Amazing!

The place to be in Georgetown...I suggest to stay here it's a beautiful shophouse, everything is great attention to details. It's near center, just walk and discover the city. The staff is fantastic...they make you feel at home...especially Cris..I .apologize because I will have definitely written the name wrong...but she was so special...like a mum! Of course I will come back!

Great place to stay.

Staff was really friendly and helpful with a lot of advice for food and things to do. We stayed in the new room - king suite with balcony. Air cond, shower pressure, and hot temperature are stable. The room was clean. The hotel is located at a walkable distance of many tourist spots 15-20. Or a few minutes with Grab. The room is exact as the photos on booking. And there is a common area with free coffee and tea.

Bedding material could be better, bedsheets were too warm, not a breathable fabric. The balcony is more a terrace on the ground floor facing the street. (See outside photo). Still good to take your coffee in the morning.

Comfortable stay in George town

We liked the atmosphere of the old house with nice decorations. They offer free tea, coffee & water. The reception staff were very kind. The location is not far from the center. Wifi worked good.

Some minor things we didn’t like: Grab driver may have difficulty to find the place. We couldn’t open the window and no curtain in the room, so it was too bright to sleep until noon. But they are not disturbing so much. Overall this is a very nice hotel to stay.

Eine interessante Unterkunft in historischer Bauweise

Das ke-lan-tan House ist wirklich ein sehr besonderer Ort. Uns hat die Einrichtung sehr gefallen und man bekommt ein Gefühl dafür, wie das Leben früher in solchen historischen Gebäuden war. Die Betten und Kissen waren sehr gemütlich. Das gesamte Hotel war sehr sauber und ordentlich. Der Zimmerservice hat tolle Arbeit geleistet. Zu Fuß oder mit dem Grab Car können viele Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants schnell und günstig erreicht werden. Zudem hält der kostenlose CAT Bus und weitere Busse ganz in der Nähe der Unterkunft. Eine außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit besonderem Flair. Besonders schön, sind auch die Aufenthaltsräume. Einer davon besteht aus einem grünen Innenhof.

Eines der Betten quietschte, wenn man sich bewegte. Das Kelantan House ist aufgrund seiner traditionellen, historischen Bauweise sehr hellhörig. Der Lärm der Straße war sehr stark zu hören. Für unseren Aufenthalt von 4 Nächten war das okay, aber länger wären wir nicht geblieben. Die Zimmer sind etwas dunkel.

Beautiful Old home hotel in Charming Georgetown

Beautifully preserved house.. Takes you back in time Very very clean Super convenient location with easy access to the bus stop, supermarket, eating places etc

The bathroom was outside the room but was exclusive to our room... Nobody else using it.. So not a big issue as such

Ke-lan-tan House must be the best small hotel in Penang. Stay here, you won't be disappointed!

The tranquility of the internal building was beyond compare. A beautiful central area with water features including small pools of goldfish and plants created the most amazing sense of calm. My room was very clean and really gave a sense of history. The staff are the greatest asset; friendly, helpful and understanding. The shower room provided everything I needed with great water pressure and heat.

Excellent value, comfortable traditional-style hotel

The hotel is situated just outside the main centre of George Town, so it's quiet but still within walking distance of the main sights, shops and eateries. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the town. The room (with ensuite bathroom) was very comfortable and quiet. There is a small kitchen area where you can make your own hot drink. The hotel is beautifully decorated in an old Malaysian style.

Genial, cómodo, limpio... Como en casa y muy céntrico

Esta casa de época es preciosa! Está muy bien situada per a la vez queda escondida en una calle muy tranquila. La habitación era grande y muy cómoda. El lavabo privado estaba fuera de la habitación pero para nosotros eso no era un problema. Todo muy limpio y el personal amabilísimo. Café y te de cortesía en el patio que tiene una fue te y unas plantas muy bien cuidadas. Muy recomendable!

Unterkunft in historischem Haus, schön gemacht. Freundliche Mitarbeitende.

Mein Zimmer war direkt neben der Rezeption. Um ins externe Bad zu gelangen, musste ich durch die „Lobby“, was nicht optimal ist. In zwei der drei Nächte war es an der Rezeption recht laut (Anrufe, Gespräche). Generell ist es sehr ringhörig.

An excellent heritage hotel in George Town with traditional decoration & atmosphere. Very relaxing & very helpful & friendly staff. Huge room with private bathroom outside the room. Very good location close to many malls. Very clean & very organized. Excellent WIFI internet inside the room.

Good stay at KeLanTan

Accommodations were very clean. Decor nice lovely courtyard inside with place to sit and coffee available. Bathroom clean but a little far from the room.

No outlets for electronics but was able to borrow an adaptor. Advertised tours unavailable and wrong information given by staff. Night staff could have been quieter as we were in the room close to reception and heard their videos until after 1 am.

The separate private bathroom was inconvenient, especially at night. The room was noisy due to its location facing the street. To fix all this case, better to take room with bathroom inside.

Superb

The house is gorgeous and absolutely worth seeing. The area with provided water (hot and cold), with tea bags, coffee and biscuits is great. The indoor garden gives it a special flair. The house is situated a bit outside the old city center but everything is within walkable distance. The staff provides useful maps and information. The private bathrooms are situated not within the rooms but outside, our's was a bit farther away, like 20m but it wasn't a problem for us.

After our affirmed booking we received a message that the room is no longer available and we should upgrade to a different room, which coincidentally was much more expensive. We did not accept this and they then found a different solution but it was rather weird. We also found the check-in rather strange because we suddenly had to pay more than it showed on booking. Only about 25 Ringit, but it was unexpected. Also the additional 12Ringit per night for taxes should be mentioned beforehand. You also need to pay a 100 Ringit deposit for your room once you arrive.

Location is central but in a quiet street. The house itself is lovely and the first impression is in a way that you expect a wunderfull stay. The staff is realy helpfull and do their utmost best to let you have a comfortable stay. However there are also a few minors....

The building has 2 lower rooms and a few rooms on the 1st floor as well. Since the building has traditional wooden floors upstairs the noice from just walking in the upper room will definately keep you away from a good night sleep. During our stay the upper floor was occupied by a Malaysian family. From the information they given, they were invited by family to stay in the hotel and join evening family dinner outside. Although we very much respect their way of living and lifestyle, we would have appreciated if they would have given us a more relaxed stay by beeing a bit more quiet. Another issue we experienced was that, although we have put the "please do not disturb" sign clearly at our door, during our absence staff went in to shut down the aircon. Of course we understand and appreciate saving energy, but the building was renovated in its original style without any form of insulation or (saving) energy control. While have 35° (+) degrees outside the wooden non-isolated room it takes 3 hours to bring the room temp around 25° After we put in this complaint the staff mentioned that shutting down the aircon was a clear instruction given by the management. Overal we value this place at a 9, based on staff, location and the traditional housing and interior. Considerring our experiences, who might be incidential, we have to lower this to a 7. Sorry !

Authentic restored property, easy walking distance into the heritage zone.

configuration of power sockets in room for charging phones (outlets were old school … halfway up the wall … far from the bed) guests should bring a power board. Our bathroom was a short walk across the inside courtyard so wished I had remembered to pack a light robe.

Beautiful, clean and calm. Highly recommended!

Very spacious room, very clean and very comfortable. The place is beautiful and the location is great, very calm but a short walk to the center or very cheap taxi rides if you use Grab. Wifi was good to work. Water, coffee and tea provided.
