The location is in a quite area, far removed from the large cities. It provides a good contrast in your trip, and the mountains certainly adds to the atomosphere.
Not much to dislike.

Very friendly service.
Spacy rooms.
Beautiful traditional onsen.
Excellent dinner.

Amazing food and super friendly and helpful staff. The room sizes were huge as well which was a welcom change from what we had been experiencing so far in Japan.

Everything was phenomenal. Asuzi (I probably mangled the spelling) - the owners wife - runs an immaculate operation with a very small staff. Very hospitable and warm from our arrival to departure. The rooms were massive in size - literally suites - and just the right temperature on a cold April night. Also spotless - but that’s probably a given.
The onsen was cozy and water just right. I guess it also helped that being a small place with only a few guests, it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. We were entirely alone for the whole time we were at the onsen, which made it feel like it was our private onsen.
The breakfast was spectacular and Asuzi took a lot of trouble to explain to us all the many local dishes prepared fresh for us.
All in all one of the best stays we have ever had anywhere. The only pity was we had planned for only 1 night here, when even a week would not be enough….!

Meals (breakfast and dinner) were fantastic and really showcased local cuisine, including Hida beef and hoba miso. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help us with any queries - for example, what to do in the local area and bus times. They all really made us feel at home.
Room was very spacious. Once our beds were made they left them out for the duration of our stay. Other ryokans sometimes put them away during the day which can be a pain if you want a nap!
We didn’t have any complaints.

We could not expect a better ending to our 3 weeks trip in Japan. Furusato was the best way possible to deep experience the Japanese Alps. Everything, from the staff, the food and the onsen was a magic experience.
Any complains. Everything was perfect.

The staff is amazing! Azusa Nakano is the most welcoming host we have ever met. She goes out of her way to speak English with us and even helped us plan our visit around the area. The breakfast is delicious with alot of variety and changes completely each day. Furusato definitely makes you want to come back again!
Wifi didn't reach one of our rooms but it didn't matter too much since we enjoyed being in the lobby and didn't stay in the room that much.

A quiet place surrounded by beautiful mountains. Furusato is a very comfortable ryokan with large rooms and a cozy hall with kind and helpful personel and marvelous breakfast and dinner!

We really enjoyed our stay and the room, onsen and food were so good. Comparing to our previous Japan trips, it's one of the best ryokans that my partner and I have been to. I would recommend anyone to stay here for their first-time ryokan and onsen experience. Azusa-san is a great host and you won't have to worry about the language barrier as she's able to speak English well.
I couldn't fault anything during our two night stay.
