Having read quite grim reviews of this hotel on Booking.com and Google.Maps, I did not expect much from it, and was hesitant to book it. It thus came as a nice surprise that I liked it, and found it quite great. The room was huge and clean, and everything was nice and comfy. The furniture was a bit old-fashioned, but overall fine. The sound-proofing of the room wasn't perfect (people making noise in the corridor in the morning were very audible, and if I listen well I could hear a neighbor snoring in the middle of the night), but not the worst I ever experienced, and I had a great sleep. I haven't tried the breakfast.
The hotel is somewhat outside the city center, and its immediate surroundings aren't lively. Sure, it is just ~20 min walk to the downtown, and the area feels safe; but the day I stayed there was quite cold, so when I wanted to go for a drink in the downtown before sleep, it felt quite far, and I did not make it. Though, they have a small bar in the hotel, although not very exciting.

nothing. It was just an overnight stay and we needed nothing more.

Hotel has excellent facilities as one would expect for a 4* hotel. It's very conveniently sited for all the major sites of interest on Merida.
The hotel decor was tired in places. The terrace was only accessible by steep stairs from the hotel or via a steep ramp outside which was part of the car park access.
3.0
The cleanliness of the room was not ideal for a four stars hotel. The service at breakfast was not adequately managed, as food was missing, there was no crockery or cutlery and, for example, the cheese was not being stored in a cool place as it was becoming dry with no quality. I had to set at a table which was dirty due to the fact that there was not enough staff to clean the tables and prepare them for the next guests.

The location for exploring Merida Roman history on foot.

the art style of the room and inside building.
Parking in the street in front of the hotel is free and was readily available.
Mediocre bed mattress.
No plugs next to the bed.
Non existing sound insulation. We had the pleasure to share our night with a group of teenagers and enjoyed their discussions and music tastes through our walls. Complaining to the staff was of little help to tame the noises.
We were also bless to hear the water flowing through the pipes, with clarity.
The hot water ran out for my partner shower.
Upon notification of these discomforts at check out, the clerk offered us a sad look and apologies. My hours of sleep missing were not impressed by this level of customer care.
Safe to say we will not come again in this place ever again.
