If you like marsh living this is an ideal location. Great fishing, crabbing and birdwatching. Will definitely rent again.

We loved our stay! The privacy, shade and view from the home is wonderful. The private dock and boat ramp was what peeked our interest and was so convenient for our guys that love to fish. The house was very clean and updated. The kitchen had lots of cookware and utensils. We did have to drive to the beach but it was not far and we didn’t find it to be inconvenient. The only reason I did not give this review 5 stars was because the upstairs room was quite warm. Even with a mini ac and fan it was particularly warm during the day. The ac air was not cold so the room stayed warm. Night time was tolerable. We liked that the upstairs had several beds. It was good for the teenagers. We look forward to our next visit!

Just the way the pictures looked. Absolutely breathtaking! So peaceful and quiet. House was very comfortable but the property was perfect. Fished, crabbed, went on a boat ride and sat by the fire. Look forward to renting it again.

Always a great location! Loved the new paint and other upgrades to the home. Very nice stay! Only complaint would be the water is quite salty out of the tap, maybe a filtration system is needed. The stove could use updating. Other than that, we always enjoy staying here.

We love the location , and being able to step out the house and walk to get on your boat was great. This was one of the best trips we ever had.The only thing was the water in the house had that sulfur smell , but we brought water to brush your teeth and to make coffee with. Like I said we had a awesome time and will come back next year.

Well weather did not cooperate but beautiful setting, took some great pictures with my new camera! Kitchen was stocked wonderfully! Upstairs great for kids but a little warm at times. Will definitely stay again! Maybe fish will bite then!

We really enjoyed the location. But this house looks, feels, and smells like it hasn't had any updating since the 1990s. Mattresses were horrible, as well as pillows. Crummy and scarce cookware. Walls need paint. Cabinets and appliances in kitchen were rotten or corroded. At the price I paid to stay here, I expected much more from the house. Will not stay here again, unless these issues are handled. What has the owner been doing with their rent money? They charge enough for a four star rental but it is barely a one star accommodation.

As we drove the small winding path thru the woods to the house, it opened to a beautiful view of the deep water marsh. We were met with the calls of herons and various water birds as we walked to the covered dock. The oak trees flanking the home were dripping with Spanish moss, and various types of palm trees also dotted the property. The home itself was comfortable and clean, and reminded me of the many beach homes I remember staying at during my childhood. The children enjoyed fishing off the floating dock,and the evening boat rides,which were easy as we simply put the boat in at our own private ramp during high tide. Now, if you have someone with limited mobility in your party, getting down to the floating dock at low tide might be a challenge for them, but it didn't hinder the younger ones in our party. On days the kids wanted beach time, we were just down the road and made a trip to the public access or State Park.Overall, we were thrilled with our stay, and hated to leave the peacefulness of our quiet marsh retreat. We will be returning to Hog Heaven but have a lot of memories to sustain us until then.

Really love the location. Have always been beach front fans but have changed my mind after staying here twice. The deep water marsh is so much better. Always changing landscape as the tides go in and out. Fantastic sunsets and such a sense of privacy. Private dock and boat launch, great! The inside of the house is large and spacious however the furniture, carpet, counter tops, bath fixtures and appliances need to be replaces ASAP. Just plain worn out. Lighting is awful for reading.Won't stay here again until those things are done. Could be best rental on island with those improvements, sorry that the owner has let the property go. Windows and blinds dirty. Needs paint and update.

My family has rented this property in the past before it was placed in the rental market, so we knew the conditions. When we were choosing a place to stay we again chose Hog Heaven because of the Atwood website stating all the upgrades, what a joke! It takes more than paint, new curtains and new living area furniture for it to be considered an upgrade. The floors were NASTY,carpet and rugs were stained, especially the rug in the living area. The handle on the stove was lose and the ceiling light was full of bugs. The hall bathroom door would not lock, the tub drain was broken and there is a loose board in the floor. The dining table is loose and the two benches on the ends are in desperate need of repair. The door knob on the door facing the creek needs to be replaced, hard to open. The outside faucets have leaks and the fan under the gazebo kept tripping the breaker. The overall appearance of the house is in need of pressure washing from the siding, windows and steps. The greatest asset of this property is that it is located on a deep water creek, because my family loves to fish, shrimp and crab. Another note, the times you having chosen for arriving and leaving cuts any renter out of a day of vacation, because it only takes your cleaning crew at the most 30 minutes to clean!

While we really enjoyed our stay, the house could have been in much better shape. To be a "hypoallergenic" house (which is what we were told it was when we were told we couldn't bring our dogs) the house was not the cleanest. While the things that really mattered were clean enough (bathrooms, kitchen, beds) there were closets with junk piled in them, carpet that was really dirty (with two 2 year old's this was a huge deal) and the exterior of the house could use a lot of tidying up. I really think the house just needs some cosmetic touch-ups and it would be great for the rental price. Again, we had a great week, and would probably stay here again, but giving attention to some of these areas would definitely make the house more appealing.
