This neighborhood is a great location- close to the airport, Old Town, Mission Bay, Seaworld, the Marina, the convention center, Rady Shell, Balboa Park, the zoo, etc. The view from the back of the house is awesome! Bring binoculars to see planes landing and taking off, ships coming in, trains, buses, trolleys, and the naval base. If you need a two bedroom rental in a great location, this house is worth considering.
However, when we arrived three hours after check in, the house hadn’t been cleaned since the last guests had stayed there. We notified the management company, left to stay at a hotel, but didn’t get confirmation that the house was ready for us until 16 hours later, after several attempts to contact the manager. The property manager did agree to refund our first night and the cleaning fee, but we have not received a refund yet.
Even then, the basement bedrooms and bathroom were filthy. The basement smelled musty, the windows don’t stay open, the sheets were stained, and the bathroom exhaust fan doesn’t work.
A few notes about the layout- the bunk bed room in the basement doesn’t have a door on it. The fourth “dungeon” bedroom can’t be accessed except by going through the bunk bed room. The en suite bathroom on the main floor doesn’t have a door between it and the bedroom. So if you are traveling with small kids, or others who require privacy, this house may not be for you.

The location was minutes from downtown. A short commute to many local attractions grocery stores and Walmart. The home was gorgeous and accommodating for my family, with breathtaking views of downtown San Diego, the airport, the marine base, Coronado Beach, and the Pacific. It's a very nice neighborhood with kind neighborhoods to boot.
4.5
The back deck was amazing! Plenty of room for everyone. Very close to marine graduation , we could see the base from the deck

Our party of 9 (family of 7 and grandparents) stayed her for a week over spring break. The house, views and location were awesome! Would stay here again in a heartbeat. The house is 100 years old so you have to accept that there will be quirks but bathrooms and kitchen have been updated. Rooms were small, but again, it's an old house. However, there were multiple living spaces, four bedrooms, 3 full baths, laundry, etc. The outdoor patio off the kitchen was huge and was so enjoyable to relax on the patio furniture and eat outside. We ate out there for most meals and just took in the wonderful SD weather and views of the city, airport and bay. The kitchen has all the kitchen items you'll need. However, they only have salt, pepper, sugar and a few other spices so you'll need to provide all the rest. There wasn't a crib or pack-n-play so we bought one and left it there. Hopefully they kept it in the house and add it to the amenities. The location was 4 min drive to Old Town, 8 minutes to Little Italy and 5 minutes to Vons grocery store. The neighborhood is beautiful with lots of old homes so was really enjoyable for a morning run/walk.

House was beautiful and within walking distance of my sons graduation from boot camp. Would definitely stay there again.

The house was immaculate. The views were so beautiful. Such a great family oriented neighborhood. We had absolutely no problems. We definitely look forward to booking again in the future.
4.5
The windows and areas on the main floor are very inviting. The patio had a fabulous view and plenty of seating space to enjoy conversations.

We enjoyed this house. Worked really well with our pets. Great views of the bay and city. We enjoyed watching the airplanes land and take off. Incredible place to watch the July 4 fireworks!
4.5
Especially liked the big deck/view/yard. House comfortable and clean.
4.5
The house and neighborhood were fine but it needs maintenance. Door to the outside would not lock and mattress rails on one bed were broken… Our guests had to sleep on the mattress on the floor. Microwave and oven did not function normally. Local management was unresponsive as no one came while we were there despite repeated texts. And now they tell me they will “make it up on your next visit”. Very disappointing service. If you don’t need to eat, sleep or have security; then this is the house for you.

View was amazing. Back deck amazing.

What a wonderful location. We spent most of our time on the back patio enjoying the Trains, Planes, Harbor and beautiful view of Downtown.
Thank you again for a beautiful weekend stay!

This was a great property in a quiet neighborhood. This 100 year old home has veiws draw you outside to the deck and the location is quick to so many things in town. The beds are comfortable and the space is roomy for all. The management company is very responsive.
Set your expectation on no air conditioning and unusable off-street parking for cars. The a/c would rarely be needed with the great breeze, though, and the street parking would easily have room for 2-3 cars.
We would love to stay here again. It has so much character that you don't find very often.

Nice House/A little Quirky
Nice House with a great view of San Diego. Quiet neighborhood with somewhat sensitive neighbors (the management passed along a noise complaint the 1st night even though we were out of the house for the night well before 10PM). A little smaller than expected with a quirky layout but for 4 people would be totally fine; 6 is a big stretch if you don’t share beds or bring an air mattress as the couches are not very large. Otherwise great stay! Respectful and communicative management who were helpful at all times.

The view sells this place! It’s an adorable old Tudor style house that is perched on the hill. It was a delight to stay in with our family over the holidays. We even got to see fireworks shot at midnight near downtown! The beds were super comfortable too. Our 14 old grandson loved the “New Dungeon” and moved right in!
A few minor things to mention:
1) The description said that we could park one car in the driveway. However, it was very narrow, plus the plants overgrowing into the driveway made it almost impossible to use. Fortunately, there was no issue with parking on the street.
2) The shower in the upstairs has no door or curtain. As hard as we tried, we could not avoid getting the floor soaked each time we showered. We recommend a shower door, please!
3) There were not enough towels supplied. Also, there were no wash clothes supplied at all, which I like to use.
4) One of the owners, Bill, left us a note to call him with any issues. We could not get one of the heaters to work, so we did call. He was super responsive & came right over to check it out. He was unable to fix it, so he brought us a free standing heater. He also brought us a lighter for the gas fireplace. Thank you, Bill!
5) The main heater that did work was very well. But, it was old, so as the metal expands/contracts, it makes a very load BANG! It scared us the first night. A little heads up on that would be helpful. Also, the heater in the basement bedroom was not working, but we used the portable one to keep our grandkids warm.
6) The bathroom on the main floor has been opened up to the bedroom. Obviously, this was done to install a walk-in bathtub, probably for an elderly person. That’s okay, but we would like to suggest a barn style door be installed on the wall to give you more privacy in the bathroom!
7) There are not a lot of plugs or lights in the house. There was a nice desk set up in the living room area, but only two plugs. One was for the table lamp, the other for a property manager pad device. We unplugged it so that we could plug in our own device, but I kept getting automated messages from the property manager to plug it in again. We finally borrowed a plug expander from our local daughter so that we didn’t have to be in the dark & could have everything plugged in! We recommend a plug expander be installed permanently there.
Overall, it was a truly a joy. We would love to stay here again.

Bed, bathrooms and kitchen were all very clean with nice fluffy white towels and newly remodeled. However the rest of the house could use a good scrub, the walls around corners and light switches were really really dirty. Also the “den” or the dungeon as it’s called in the house is completely unusable the room is old and smelly with a lumpy bed. Almost all the cabinets and closets also had the same old smell in them so we never hung anything up in them. They also didn’t leave us any trash bags

This house was so charming and ended up being the perfect addition to our weekend. The patio and the view is incredible, and the house is exactly as advertised. It was a great distance from Gaslamp, the beds are comfy, and we didn't have any issues with parking.
The only con I will mention is the lack of AC. We thought we would be okay without it, because it's San Diego and the weather is always nice! But apparently the weekend we went was an unusually warm and humid weekend for the time of year, so it was actually very hot in the house during the day and we had to open just about every window in the house to try and cool it down. Definitely not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning!

We needed housing for the out-of-Towner family members for a family reunion with local Southern California family. So our main needs were ability to cook and eat and sleep and visit with family and have easy access to a birthday celebration in Lemon Grove and a retirement celebration in Coronado. This house met those needs.
PROS
Panaramic view of downtown San Diego and airport.
Deck had plenty of seating, eating tables.
Dining room table (though dirty/sticky upon arrival) was a good size for eating and playing games.
Bathrooms clean, but a push soap dispenser would have been more sanitary than the one tiny bar of soap provided.
Kitchen appliances all clean and working
Good supply of pots, pans and cooking utensils.
Easy access to all places we wanted to go—Coronado Beach, Zoo, Arts-Rec store in Barrio Logan, Lemon Grove, airport.
Great couches and rocker recliners and other seating in living areas for family conversations and group games.
Good WIFI connection
The neighbor across the street complimented us on being quiet considerate guests.
CONS
Be careful on slippery stairs in stocking feet
We had 2 toddlers, so bought an expandable gate for the top of the going-down stairs (which are open from the living room) so we didn’t have to worry about them falling downstairs.
Homeless half naked man with his pants dropped down came to our front door and took quite a bit of coaxing to leave.
Deck—didn’t look like anything had been cleaned.
Grill was gross, moldy; unusable.
Deck railing bird poop—tried to clean;
Cushions on wicker furniture dirty;
Deck floor not clean
The 2nd floor rooms:
Hardwood floors were dirty —black feet, we walked barefoot because of slippery floors & stairs.
Basic supplies we had to supplement:
We bought…
Paper towels
Plastic wrap
Foil
Garbage bags
Toilet paper
Disinfectant wipes
Sponges
Dish scrubber
4 large plastic serving bowls

Family enjoyed our short stay. Found property exactly as advertised. Afraid to write glowing review because I can't see how I was rated as a Guest, until AFTER I submit this review. So, if, for example, I find out I have a low Guest rating for something that existed before my arrival, I don't want my Guest review to be used against me in any dispute. Kind of a dumb system, if you ask me.

My wife and I take our grandchildren on an annual Cousins Trip. This year we decided San Diego & had planned to stay at the Marriott on Coronado Island, but found your property available, with the exact dates we needed. The grandkids loved the multi level, outdoor play area in the back yard along with the amazing deck off the dining room that was our favorite hangout spot for the weekend. Each night we would gather and hear the amazing stories about that day from their perspective. Great memories start with a great place to meet. Thank you.
