Stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years and it keeps getting better and better. A hotel with charm and history and is a jewel on the sea front of Weston-Super Mare.

Pleasant older style vintage hotel with sea view. Big effort made to make hotel attractive with flower displays and attractive Christmas decorations etc.Reception staff attentive .Breakfast staff pleasant also ..Good cooked breakfast ,best out of hotels stayed in at Weston .Accomodated me nicely with the rooms which are well appointed .Hotel is popular .Sometimes had to wait for busy lift. Actually didn’t mind using stairs when possible as exercise for me .Hope to stay again .

Good size room. Comfortable bed. And finally a more modern room with usb charging options in the bedside plugs.

Lovely hotel and I had a great room with nice views of the beach and sea.
Tasty breakfast.
Excellent value for money

Totally fine stay. Bed was comfortable. Carpet and decor was ok albeit a bit tired and maybe needs a repaint in places. Shower worked.
The coffee cup in the room looked like it had recently been used on the outside as it had coffee stains/drip marks, so didn't look 'clean'. Otherwise, overall it did what it needed to do... a nice comfy place to lay my head. Didn't do breakfast today, but I'm back towards end of the week so will see how I feel then!

Fine except for excessive charge for parking; £10

Great small room , 308 , warm and great view

Nice comfortable room. No frills. But did the job. TV was in a weird position but my room was an odd shape. Otherwise a good room. Friendly staff.

I was first put into a double room. I first of all found cleaning paperwork left in the room and then the light wasn't working. I was then asked if I wouldn't mind moving rooms to a twin as there was noone to change the lightbulb.
I then found more cleaning paperwork in the second room. I then had a shower in the morning in which the shower head proceeded to spray water all across the bathroom and not in the shower. I would avoid this place.

Staff welcoming. Old building but ideal for our seaside escape. The only down side was that the walls were thin and each morning we were woken at 645 with people talking outside of our room on the way to breakfast and then the house keeping service.
I’m not sure if this is hotels.com or the hotel itself but the online additional extras didn’t work either even though everything was approved via email. the parking, late checkout and restaurant booking didn’t actually make it to the hotel.

Cheap and very basic. Marks on walls, holes and rips in net curtains. The floor in my room creaked so bad it was getting on my nerves, can’t imagine how irritating it was for someone underneath me. No soap in the hand soap dispenser in the bathroom. Dinner however was fantastic.
1.0 / 10.0
No soap or tissues in the room.
The sink was cracked.
The bath panel was rotten.
The soap dish was so dirty underneath I could cut through it with my nail.
Only one bedside cabinet.
Room too hot and can't open the window fully to cool down.
Toilet cistern loose.
Signs in the bathroom which haven't been removed 'Beware hot surface'
Squeaky floor.
No telephone to complain to reception.
Wallpaper hanging off
No lock on bathroom door.
BREAKFAST
Coffee came from an urn and had been stewing, tasted like dish water.
Bread, probably the cheapest you could find.
Scrambled egg, black spots in it which tuned out to be pepper. If I want pepper I'll but it on myself also it was just a solid mas.
Fried eggs dried up and hard.
Marmalade came from a dispenser, didn't taste like marmalade.
Cold greasy bacon
Orange juice out of a carton
Plates too small
The butter was good.
All of this for a grand total of £280!!!! and it's low season. Would you stay there?

I was asked for personal information that I would have expected them to have received from hotels.com e.g. address, email address.
Process was a bit clunky.
Had to ask about dinner options.
Set up charging account but didn’t stamp the key card so barman wouldn’t accept it.
Room is to standard expected however.
Reception area and lobby is untidy and full of clutter.

Friendly staff
Hotel feels tired in places . Stairwell wallpaper. Room could do with painting

Awful stay. Music on until after 22.00, when I was trying to sleep after being up at 04.00 in the morning. I don’t think they realise it’s a hotel, not a nightclub.
When I complained to the ‘Manager’ in the morning I didn’t even get an apology.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was tidy and clean. The lift wasn't working but we were advised well in advance. The only downside was a leak on the shower but didn't retract from our visit.

Lovely large room with fantastic sea views. Hotel very tired looking though. Peeling wallpaper, stains on carpet in bedroom . Needs a spruce up.

It was a lovely property

As you enter there is a sign over the door saying “170 years as a hotel.” The old girl is showing her age.
The hygiene is good, laundered sheets and towels are also good and the reception area and dinning room nicely decorated.
I always look at the bed room carpets, they are always an indicator of the hotels cleanliness, and they were good in our parties rooms.
What lets it down is the decor in the bed rooms. The rooms have all the facilities you expect in a hotel but there was signs of paint damage on the ceilings as a result of damp. Generally the rooms decor looks tired.
The best part of our stay was the breakfast. The worst parts was the lack of a lift, especially like us if you are on the 3rd floor. The Bar area strangely does not feel like it should be part of such a grand building, it had more of a working man’s club feel.
Overall, value for money, it’s fair.

Very friendly staff that had to tell people that the lift wasnt working. As most were senior citizens . Breafast good. Position of hotel excellent
6.0 / 10.0
The lift as been out of order for a long time which made it difficult for us both because of walking up the stairs with or disability and when we booked there was no mention of the lift being out of order which if i was aware of the lift being out of order i would have probably booked somewhere else lorraine nolan

Hotel is rather dated but functional , room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Everything worked fine with no issue's apart from lift which was fortunately not a problem sure it will be fixed shortly. Breakfast was perfect and restaurant was very nice.

Very grand old hotel. Superior sea view room was massive. Plenty of parking.

we were disappointed and angry that the lift hadn't been working for at least 5 weeks and we were send an email letting us know the night before we were due to check in. A member of our group is disabled. I believe it's very dishonest from expedia and the hotel to let us book without telling the clients the truth. the staff were not very forward in offering help with carrying luggage.
6.0 / 10.0
Positives: the staff are helpful and polite, the pillows and bed were comfy, the breakfast was fine. You are right on the seafront and close to all the amenities.
Negatives: as other reviewers have said, the hotel needs renovating, sockets and radiators are coming away from the wall. Doors are damaged and are hard to open, our room had a damp smell near the door. The lift was out of action and we received an email about this the night before checking in. It did not really affect us but it’s disingenuous to let guests know at such short notice when the lift has been broken for weeks. The hotel has potential if some money is invested to improve it.

Stayed for one night, Top floor room, Lift not working decor needed updating, paper peeling of the walls etc. The pictures on the website look alot better than the actual rooms. Staff were really friendly, Breakfast was nice too. Probably wouldn't stay again with so many other options in Weston.

Could be a beautiful hotel. Everything is there but desperately needs upgrading. It’s been neglected for a long time!
2.0 / 10.0
Booked accessible room to be put on 3rd floor involving two staircases between each floor. Lift out of order and had been flor a long time by look of dusty bollard in front of it Receptionist changed room to first floor but still difficult. Beds too narrow for huge room bathroom tatty. All paintwork throughout hotel needs good clean or repaint. £10 parking per night ridiculous. Breakfast cold and dried up. Not a good stay

We had a pleasant one night stay at the hotel however the lift has been out of order for at least the last 4 months!!!! It wasn’t too much of a problem for us but my mother in law really struggled going up and down the stairs. We were informed about the issue with the lift a few days before our stay but by then there was nowhere else to stay nearby. We decided to risk it as we were only staying one night- if we had been staying longer we would have had to cancel our stay.
Car parking was easy - plenty of space but a charge of £10.
Check in was efficient- staff were lovely.
Room was very dated but comfortable with a fabulous view.
Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.
Check out was easy.

Turret room with fanrastic views across the bay. The staff were very attentative and friendly and we found weston super mare very clean and friendly place yo visit with this hotel in prime location. Only gripe was its a dog friendly hotel and someones dog barked considerably in evening and morning. Not the fault of hotel but annoying.

Stayed here before. Place is nice. Right on the sea front. Very good. Paid extra for a sea view. Life out action might be a problem for some guests
8.0 / 10.0
Staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Room was clean and looked to be partially refurbished, furniture looked fairly new and some walls were ok whilst others were in need of repair and painting. Overall the room was satisfactory for what we paid. Breakfast was excellent, hot buffet, cereals, fruit, danish pastries etc all were constantly replenished as necessary. Would definitely stay again

Lovely old traditional hotel with period features but needs some TLC.
3.0 / 10.0
The staff were welcoming and friendly.
The reception area, bar and restaurant was nice.
Rooms are comfortable but in need of some TLC.
We only stayed for one night, so it was ok.
Location was great for the beach.
4.0 / 10.0
Booked a superior room but everything was tired, the lift didn’t work and we only found out 3 hours before we arrived and if your travelling with a disabled person that really is not good, the floors had holes full of expanding foam, the paint was peeling, the net curtain in the bathroom was black at the bottom and stained all over, the windows were so dirty you couldn’t see much out of them. Beds were comfortable enough and it was clean but I wouldn’t book here again.

It's seen better times, room very dated and the doors creaked like a Halloween prop, staff were nice but the food wasn't great, lift not working, also you have to pay to park your car in their carpark.
6.0 / 10.0
Easy to get too, hotel is slightly dated but very well priced. The room was hot tho.
3.0 / 10.0
Great views of the sea front
The lifts were out for our visit, although we were notified prior to arrival, 3 flights of stairs every day. We are fit & able so fine for us, but did feel sorry for some of the elderly guests
The rooms although I believe recently renovated, were shabby & need of repair
