Good facilities, big room

Great service and spacious room by Japanese standards. Friendly staff. Great breakfast at a fair price. Onsen options as well were great after a dat walking around the town

Location is about 10-15 minutes walk from train station. It's very quiet neighbourhood. You will surely have a good sleep. Room is clean and comfortable. Staffs are very polite and professional. The best part is the onsen (both public and private) are great. Breakfast space is a bit crowded but staffs are very efficient to clean and refill food items. I will definitely stay again.
4.6
The private onsen was the best during our 15 days trip. The breakfast had a lot of choices. But the seatings are problematic if you are a large group of travellers. We, family of 5, luckily seated together during breakfast.

Incredible!
4.6
It was amazing. My son said that it was the best hotel he had in Japan so far.
4.6
The breakfast is really good with good choices of Japanese and western food. Japanese food is tasty. Services by staff were great. The only setback is the location.
4.6
Good hotel, close to the train station and easily walkable to the old townscape of Hidatakayama Sanmachi Historic District.
4.6
Walkable to JR and bus stations for around 8 mins. Staff are nice and helper. Breakfast is good with variety choice. onsen is good enough for me. The triple room is big enough for 3 person

During check-in, a front desk staff pointed us with a gloomy face to go back to the entrance for registration. However, there were no signs or staff indicating this when we entered, this is not a common procedure in hotels, but it made us feel like it was the tourists' own problem, which immediately gave us a bad impression of this hotel.
Before us, there were 3 customers checking in, she greeted them with a smile. However, when it was our turn, she not only was unwilling to process our registration, but eventually let another employee do it for her. We felt completely discriminated against, until we directly asked her if she had any dissatisfaction with us.
As a hotel that receives international guests, the suspicion of discrimination against customers has seriously undermined guests' confidence.

Nice quiet hotel with comfortable beds. Our 1st room smelt a bit musty near the sink so they agreed to move us to a different room, much appreciated.
The hotel has a good buffet breakfast with western and Asian choices. We didn’t try the onsen as it was closed for maintenance, there were family private ones available but too long a wait.
Location is a bit far from the old town but is walkable, about 20 minutes. Morning market beside the river is worth visit.

Would stay again staff are super friendly and accomodating

Beds were fantastic, private spas are great and lounge on top floor is wonderful
4.6
Very nice hotel with spacious room. Seems to have nice spa even though we didn’t use it. Very cute welcome bags for my children and they loved it. Location is slightly away from the town centre so has limited restaurants around. However close enough to all the convenient stores.
4.6
You don't need to worry about the transportation arrangement. Location is around 10 minutes walk from the station, and also 10 minutes walk to Takayama Jinya and another 10 minutes to Takayama Old Town. Plenty of parking space with reasonable parking charge. Welcome drink and breakfast are good, including draft beer for happy hour and house wine for breakfast. Spa is a perfect space for relax. A lot of European are staying in the hotel and we could feel that they were happy with the stay.
4.6
Common space area feels dated or not cleaned frequently especially the lounge in the lobby. Floor was sticky, likely from the beer machine.
Overall average stay.
4.6
Lovely breakfast and spacious rooms
4.6
Nice location, just wish there were more nearby restaurants
4.6
Great property in between train station and old town. Single-sex soaking and sunas are nice
4.6
one of the best stays i've ever had as a solo traveller. everything was great from guest density, facilities, service, not to mention every staff speaks great english. nothing to complain for this price, and i hope they continue to do it this well.
also shout out to the tamagoyaki i had from their breakfast. it's surprisingly the best tamagoyaki i've had in japan.

Fabulous place to stay. The mineral baths are amazing. We loved our stay!

Lovelly view. Great breakfast and excellent cleaning staff. Not very close to dining options.

On our first trip to Japan, we were not sure what to expect, but Wat Hotel was an incredible experience. We came to the exceptionally clean and classy establishment and greeted by the jovial staff member Riko M. Despite how busy it was, she made sure we were well taken care of and made navigating the system easy especially with her great English skills. She had no trouble making us feel welcome in an unfamiliar area. The breakfast had a wide variety and even had several staff members keeping everything in order to make it a smooth dining experience. We would easily visit again during our next stay in Takayama and also recommend Wat Hotel to friends and family.
4.6
Size of room was fine but lacked clothes storage and quite plain with small bathroom area. Hot bath/spa area was nice with an inside and outside bath. Location was good, can walk everywhere from there. Breakfast buffet was good food, just a bit cramped and busy, you come straight out of lift into the buffet.
4.6
The breakfast was great, with many varieties of foods. The room was clean and spacious. There is separate toilet and washbasin.
4.6
New and convenient hotel within walking distance to Takayama town. Onsen experience was good.
4.6
This is a great option for Takayama area. There’s four private onsens that you don’t book, they are first come first serve. We used them 3 times, and only once did we have to wait about 15 mins. The staff is so friendly, and the room/ hotel was clean! Good location, it’s not far at all from the busy food/ shopping streets in Takayama and still in a very quiet area!
4.6
Not happy with the following:
Our room 212 had a dump smell coming from the bathroom drain.
Staff not friendly - on reception we were given town map in Japanese but the English version was available.
On positive side - breakfast had reasonable choice but not enough tables and some people had to go to eat in the lobby.
4.6
Overpriced if booked from US. Our rate was 3 times higher than the rate of our Japanese friend.
4.6
Room was very spacious.
4.6
We are very disappointed with Hotels.com. Hotels.com is supposedly to give us best price guarantee but we found the price of the hotel to be almost one third the price we paid when we checked in. When questioned, no amendments were made.
4.6
This hotel offers a lot of things. It even has a nice grand piano that we can play! The onsen is very nice and very few people use it.
4.6
Good breakfast
Good service
Good sized room
Good amenities
Nice Onsen
Did not like having to look for our robes on ground floor. Would like to have seen them in the room
4.6
Probably one of the less practical hotels near the station. Swarmed with international tourists (granted I was one of them so…). Facilities are fine but it felt understaffed compared to the mountain of tourists it was serving.
Next time I’d stay somewhere else.
4.6
Nice hotel in quite neighborhood.
4.6
Nice hotel to stay in Takayama. New and clean hotel with welcome drinks. And it comes with FREE onsen facility with public and private onsen. This is the main attraction of this hotel. Location wise is also good
4.6
This hotel stay was one of the best stay I ever had. From the moment I walked in and the check-out, the staffs were very nice, friendly, and very helpful. The complimentary welcome beer was so good! The breakfast was great with so many varieties of both Japanese and western foods. The bar and other complimentary offers were unbelievable. Onsen experience was great! I (we) totally enjoyed our stay and planning to visit again just to enjoy this hotel stay! I would definitely stay in the future and highly recommend this hotel stay to anyone who expects a pleasant stay.
