We stayed one night and enjoyed the onsen facilities very much. The room is traditional so this is a Japanese tatami mat room with futon cushions, not a western style bed. This might take some getting used to for western travelers. You reserve your onsen time upon arrival and you can go back for more time in the evening and morning. We didn’t know you could reserve a dinner service but only in advance so we just had the room service dishes available which were very good. This is a very quiet and traditional experience.

The Japanese experience is amazing,I love the place, people and food!

I had the most relaxing and healing stay at Ajisai. It is in a beautiful quiet setting and the hot springs are fantastic. The staff was incredibly helpful and even helped me retrieve a lost item. The dinner was very memorable and totally worth it - traditional Japanese food that was quite delicious. I will visit here again someday!

The onsen reservation was great as my wife is uncomfortable having a bath with other people. Rooms were clean and spacious. Very peaceful place. Just a bit inconvenient in terms of transportation and convenience store nearby.

This was an amazing experience. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We opted for the stay with the traditional dinner and breakfast and the food was outstanding. We used one of the private onsens in the evening and morning and the experience was great. Please be aware that these are traditional onsens; outside in secluded areas and no bathing suits are allowed.

Amazing place! The staff was so kind and accommodating. They upgraded our room free of charge. The onsens were peaceful and clean. We got the dinner and breakfast and everything was delicious. We had the Japanese breakfast one day and the western breakfast the second. I would recommend getting meals included as the location is a little remote. We had rain a lot of the time we were there so we were glad we didn’t have to go out. 3 of the 4 taxis we used got lost so you might want to follow along with your phone. Be aware they are very strict about the 4pm checkin but we can leave your luggage in the lobby if you arrive early. I would gladly come back here!!

I have visited this ryokan before in a past trip and had a wonderful stay with family, so I had a chance to come back again with friends. As usual, the staff was very professional and accommodating. The onsen was still the highlight and great as I remembered, and the on-site provided dinner and breakfast was incredibly delicious. Strong recommendation when coming to Hakone.

Japanese style for sure but old.....

This place is a jewel. Quiet and remote. Food is great. Onsens well kept and literally in the middle of the mountain

The hotel is small but makes the whole experience more intimate. Nice, super clean, the room was big and comfortable. The staff was great, and the onsen was super nice. And the best part was the dinner. Extraordinary!
4.6
Friendly staff, clean room and hot springs. Very enjoyable stay.

Food, onsens and service at this place was excellent.

The property is away from everything and when we needed a taxi, the manager went beyond until she got us a taxi.
Gracias.

The stay at Ajisai Onsen Ryokan was incredible. My family and I had a wonderful time. The staff was very accommodating; they even made food just for us on request at late night. The onsen was clean and relaxing. The experience was enriching, refreshing, and would absolutely go once again. Definitely recommend, look to Ajisai for a great time in Hakone.

A wonderful Onsen experience. Very helpful and friendly staff. The food was delicious.

We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast. The onsen was not super clean but the facilities in general were. It was hard to get there and back without a cab and calling a cab to leave was a challenge. But overall it was a great experience to try a ryokan!
4.6
Great ryokan experience, probably the best ryokan meals of our trip. The onsen is nice, especially the outdoor one. The location is beautiful. Garret was our host snd he was very accommodating.

If you're looking for an inclusive and peaceful onsen, then this is for you!
I was traveling through Hakone that allowing both tattoos and mixed genders.
When we posted for advice on different travel sites, most people said "you're looking for a unicorn that might not exist, good luck".
So when I stumbled across a last minute deal for this ryokan, I wasn't expecting much, even though the reviews and pictures were good.
But boy, was I surprised! From the moment we arrived we were blasted by a wave of zen and ease. Our check-in was smooth and the place was very clean and beautiful.
We were welcomed with kindness and patience, all of our questions were answered in great English, and we were even upgraded to a free third onsen session (2 evening sessions and 1 morning session).
We also decided to get their breakfast add-on and it was worth it. There aren't many restaurants nearby within walking distance and after a long travel day we didn't feel like going anywhere before checking out.
Overall, our experience was fantastic! If you're looking for an inclusive private onsen that you can enjoy with your family or significant other, this is it! We can't stop gushing to each other about how perfect our experience was.

Good experience! Good food and nice onset. Google says it is walkable but with suitcases it is better to take cable car up two stations and down a little.
4.6
Good hot springs and friendly staffs. A little hard to be there.
4.6
Suite for 9 people is too small, room is cramped
futons are hard
4.6
Quiet place in the mountains with hot springs. Staff was very nice!!
4.6
This is one of the best onsen you can go to.
4.6
Great property with private onsen. Taxi exist but area is walkable, catch the right bus when you have luggage
4.6
The Onsen were wonderful. And on the whole, this ryokan felt very nice. However, we would NOT recommend eating there. The dinner was very expensive and very poor quality. The tempura was old and had been cooked 2 or 3 days ago. Each dish was pretty vile.
Also there was a family in the room above ours with extremely noisy children and we could hear everything. Other than that, it was a lovely place
4.6
Great hot spas (there are 2 inside and also outdoor) and nice Japanese style room, with all the amenities. The staff is super nice and friendly, they even gave us a ride to the station, because taxi service was not available. Well worth the experience!
4.6
Friendly staff, great food, and nice establishment! I highly recommend!
4.6
Onsen was beautiful and a great experience, beds were comfortable and good room sizes. Walking from the station is not recommended, especially if you have luggage. Room quality/fittings were okay. No views but the ground are peaceful. Overall, not quite the value for money.

This ryokan was an overall good experience and we really enjoyed our stay in Hakone. Compared to the price we paid for this ryokan, we expected a little bit more luxury, but it was a cozy and authentic experience for us. We loved the onsens. We only tried japanese breakfast once, it was alright. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was clean.
4.6
Really rustic ambience. Loved the small feel of the place. Staff was super warm and the onsens were amazing. My family loved the outdoor one better. We had dinner and breakfast and it was so tasty. Really enjoyed our stay.
4.6
Traditional ryokan with included onsen (traditional spa) that can be booked privately both inside and outside. Take a taxi from Gora station (700-1.000 Yen) as it is up hill. You can easily walk down to the station for the ropeway or train. There are not many options for dinner in the area so eat before you arrive. Good service and helpful staff. Traditional breakfast with good coffee.
4.6
You come to Relax here, Dinner is always a Highlight and the Location of Gora is a Great Start to see Mount Fuji.

We had an amazing time. We booked the deluxe family suite with our own bathroom and it was plenty of space for 7 people (5adults, 2kids). We also booked the half board and got breakfast and dinner every day which I highly recommend. It was not only delicious but also a lot of food! The private onsen was amazing and we didn’t have a problem getting the times we wanted. It was clean, hot and relaxing.
There are two ways to get to the ryokan from Gora. One is with taxi, it’s 600yen and about a 5min ride. The other way is by taking the train to Koen Kami then walking 6mins to the ryokan. The walk is very easy. We took the taxi when we had luggage but then walked when we were exploring.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We celebrated a birthday and they went out of their way to get us a cake. The hotel was also kid friendly with toys that you can take to the room. One women at the front desk spoke perfect English. Will definitely be coming back

The Onsen Resort entrance is located in a small driveway beside the main road, driving in with caution will avoid you from missing the driveway. Stairs exist between the carport and the resort entrance (~50m walking), and most of the rooms in this resort are on the 2nd floor, just take in mind that you will have to move your luggages through stairs. There are 3 Onsen in this resort, and each Onsen will be allocated to respective room guests within respective 50-min time slot, then you got your own private Onsen within that time. The private Onsen is your only way to take the shower as well, as there is no other shower space available in room (there is private toilet). The room is very Japanese styled and sleeping is relaxing after Onsen.
4.6
It was a very humble and calming stay. The baths were amazing and the rooms are gorgeous.
I would recommend trying to get the breakfast or dinner to minimize having to go out for every meal. The town, Gora is awesome but is a ‘sleepy’ town and not everything is open when you want it to be. I recommend a stay here for anyone wanting a quieter Japan experience that’s within reach of Tokyo
4.6
Definitely get a cab to the hotel from Gora station when you have luggage for 609 yen. Note there might be no one there to greet you if you arrive earlier then 4pm and wanna leave your luggage before check in. Traditional Japanese style breakfast and dinner recommended to try for one day and you can go out to eat for the other days. Friendly staff, had a great time there!

Love this private family onsen option. We enjoyed our stay here and the onsens.
4.6
It was an amazing place. They have 3 onsens including 1 sauna and 2 outdoors onsens. You have to book the onsen time slot and you get it for 50mins for you and your family or friends like private. The staff are super nice and really helpful. They also have lots of games for kids so makes it even better for family with young kids.
Gora has nothing for food after 4pm and there's only 1 combini nearby station. So make sure you bring the food and all the necessities.
4.6
The staff is awesome! Thank you so much for the pleasantry. We only stayed one night and wish we could stay longer. The private, outdoor, and indoor onsens were such luxury. We cannot wait to return. Many thanks.
