I've stayed here several times now and it's been great every time. It's in a safe location and quiet. A no frills place with clean rooms and easy parking. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. I will continue to book here whenever in town.

Worst stay of my life. Horrible front desk and dirty/rundown room. They lied on ameneties.

The Econolodge was simple, but met our purposes. It was clean, comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had the disabled room, 103, and we put the chairs outside and you can see the sun set over Castro Valley.

For a no frills hotel, my room was clean, tidy, and with all the things one would need for an overnight stay. The staff was really kind and friendly. I would come back for sure and would recommend it to anyone on a budget like me, definitely.

It was the most disgusting place I ever stayed anywhere in the world. I couldn’t wait to leave in the morning.

The people were nice. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave. It was loud because it is on the boulevard, but convenient.

Expedia, I recently booked a room for my elderly parents at an Econolodge in Castro Valley, Ca. The reservation confirmation was 72826114507415 I wanted to share that my parents and I experienced a very bad stay. Here's what happened: On the night of May 16th, I had gone two hours away to pick up my parents in Modesto, Ca and brought them to stay at the Econolodge in Castro Valley. It was after 10pm we were all tired. After checking in at the lobby, and my elderly parents to their room I was about to leave and somehow the door would not open from within. I thought that was odd, but maybe my mother had locked the door. I proceeded again to move the handle, lock and try shaking the door but it wouldn't open. We were trapped! I called the front office and they were unable to open the door either after trying. I got panicked then cause I felt in real trouble should we have a medical emergency, fire or something else. After about a half hour or so, the manager or someone in maintenance had to come into our room by way of the window! They eventually were able to free the door open. We were then asked to move to another room further down. I had to wake up my elderly father that had been sleeping just a few hours to tell him what had happened and why we had to move. He was very upset too at what was happening. To make matters worse, the room we got moved to smelled dank, like it had not used for a while. The TV did not work and there was construction debris and material nearby.

Customer service was very rude. They made us move rooms and the room they put us in a room that was not in great condition.

2 comfy queen beds. Fleas(?)on friend's bed. I was falling asleep as he said, "Something is biting me!" Next morning, he showed me bites all over his body and told me he had to soak in the bathtub(jacuzzi jets didn't work and no drain plug=improvised), then he dressed in fresh clothes/long sleeves/pants/socks.
I "realize" the [same] woman at check-in AND anytime i went to the office might not have felt well OR was stuck in a job she did not like OR previous people [throughout the years(?)] vandalized/stole/or distespectful to her OR was never taught basic "GLAD you are here!" skills????
When (at check out) Mike told and showed her bite marks (on his arms, neck face)she at first tried to brush it off saying "We have an externinator that takes care of the property." Never apologized, but did immediately radioed the maid "Be careful" and said she was going to contact exterminator.
Mike thought bed bugs, but he was bit AS SOON AD he laid down.
Note:I wanted to call the motel, it was on 4/15/24 to see if we could get partial or full refund, but am a Brain injury survivor.AND I do not believe the "she" would have done so.I hoped to give her opportunity to make it right, give warning i WAS going to leave review.(I love to give great reviews for great, friendly and knowlegable service even personal business phone calls.NOT bad ones....
IF person is having a bad day.
Note:i did NOT get bit, brought a blanket to lay over my bed.
Fridge needed defrosting.

The property is a bit older - very nice, large rooms, soap & lotion, fridge, microwave.
Mostly - I appreciate the quiet room & good bed.

This place needs an overhaul. A complete renovation. Things falling apart N not working.

It's average and ok for the price. It's very dated and the breakfast is basic coffee with a cheap pastry. The staff was accommodating and there was plenty of parking

I have stayed at this property before and they allowed to put my deposit on my card. I came back the next day and all of sudden the staff required me to leave a cash deposit. I did not have any cash ($100) on me as I was there for a job. The site did not say anything about a cash deposit so i did not have that on hand. All story short i had to cancel and book at the property next door. This was VERY inconvenient and unprofessional. NEVER AGAIN.

Check in was smooth, place was quiet despit having nieghbors. Rite next to freeway entrance and food and grocery stores

The room I was given was NOTHING like photos on the website and the sink filled with water every time and took at least 30 minutes to drain. The vanity under the sink had broken drawers.

Management is not up to par.

They gave me a room but when i went to it the door was WIDE OPEN, bed messy, when i went to ask for a refund because, no thank you?, he tried giving me the runaround of “oh a customer just left”. So you gave me their room without housekeeping cleaning up? Disgusting.

terrible front desk
2.0
First issue was the bed was a full not a queen! It felt like an oversized prison cell. Lighting was horrible the tomb was thrown together with mis-match furniture. The room felt like it was a converted storage room. Maybe just that room 218 in the back. The only + was there were no pest or rodents!
1.0
I checked in and was harassed by the front desk about not getting a smoking room because he was implying that I smelled like smoke. When I entered the room there was a gap at the bottom of the door once I closed it. There was a chair that was dirty and disgusting and the bed comforter had a cigarette burn. I immediately checked out! !!! I don't think it's fair that I still had to pay for the night. They offered another room but at that point I declined due to the rude customer service and the building looks like it's an to collapse. There are broken down cars in the parking lot.
1.0
It was dirty, loud and a overall horrible experience. People were screaming outside the door, slamming doors and hitting walls. The room and the bathroom felt gross and old and dirty. Worst experience staying at a hotel I’ve ever had.
4.0
Good room for the price. Decent view of the valley. Good access to groceries, services, and restaurants across the street, convenient for longer stays with the advantage of the room's mini-fridge and microwave. Room amenities were all in order, only problem was the hairdryer was broken. Good wi-fi speeds. Customer service and room cleaning service was reliable.
6.0
No coffee pot or Kleenex in room
