Unfortunately we were unable to experience the whole stay at the hotel due to me falling ill so had to leave early.

Another super stay in one of my favourite
hotels . It is welcoming , clean , comfortable
and the staff are amazing .

Good position next to the station sort of midway between shops and keyside. Staff great, only gripe is paying £19.50 to park for guests is too much and would probably mean I’ll look elsewhere to stay next time
5.0
It was very nice. Convenient to the shops etc.
pillows were a bit lumpy but that’s the only poor comment.
Room was very nice and spacious staff were good

Great stay, friendly staff overall good service

Lovely old hotel rooms great food good next to train station
5.0
Very tired and old fashioned furniture in room, carpet stained, woke up with stiff neck from awful pillows, bed itself was nice ,comfortable and clean Although there was a bath in the bathroom you can’t have one as there’s no taps, but some lovely features in reception area

Breakfast was lovely and staff was friendly. the room window side was dusty and told the reception. She told to sort out however nobody did or came. Second night we directly told the bed making staff and she did the best for us. I wonder no good communication between them. And we love sauna but smell like urine.it was not like this last time we came.

Great stay. Room very comfortable and clean. Staff really friendly and helpful

Building is very grand and maintains fantastic original features. Décor requires update to modern standards.
Nice spacious room. Good bath and shower.

Ideal location next to station and city centre. Impressive lobby area and sweeping staircase give off a very grand feel, however not matched by our accommodation. Internal room so no windows other than one with frosted glass onto corridor. Meant it was quite gloomy. Room was tired and in need of an update. Shower not particularly powerful. Bed was comfortable though.

A hotel with amazing history and architecture but run down to the point where paint is flaking off the walls. Mould in bedrooms and bathroom. Uncomfortable beds. Not satisfied at all with hotel

Stayed one night and ate in the restaurant. My meal was excellent but beer choice was not great. Guinness in cans for example.
Staff were great.
Real downside was the mattress in my room which was just awful.
It’s not great when you sit on the edge of the bed and your bum hits the hard part because the mattress is so weak.
Room was a single and the bed was small double.

Good location, fair price. The room was on the small side, the bathroom in particular felt cramped. The room was too hot for me even with the radiator off (early Nov) and although the window did open there was no way to latch it open to cool the room down.
5.0
Room little tired, Bed very comfortable.
Staff were very good nothing to much trouble.
Lovely Breakfast staff couldn't been more helpful. Reception Realy helpful how to get places.

Lovely hotel, fantastic to see so many of its original features still in place, the staircase with beautiful Chandeliers, is just stunning. Staff were efficient, friendly and welcoming. Room was perfectly suited for my needs and as described. It was also immaculate. 10/10 for cleanliness and facilities,

I booked hotel room for my wife who had travelled all the way from Dorchester to the Royal Station Hotel Newcastle -upon-Tyne.
I am extremely disappointed by the level of customer service. She was given a room on 4th floor which didn’t have a lift and she had to carry her suitcase on her own to her room. She wasn’t offered any assistance.
Room was small and in her words “like a hostel room” .
The room was less than satisfactory for the price and unlike any of the rooms and amenities described on the website.
The room was not sound proof and noise from trains kept her awake.

The room was incredible, so big and comfortable. Perfect stay - we'll stay again!

Excellent stay, very comfortable clean room with excellent friendly and helpful staff

The building and lobby were lovely but it stopped there. The rooms were tired and dirty. We had black mould and cobwebs in the room. I would not stay again.

Very convenient for the station. Spa facilities not available - warned but no alternative offered. Lovely desk staff but on her own so took ages to check in. Good hairdryer.

The hotel was once very grand. It is very conveniently situated and the superior rooms are very comfortable. The hotel serves a very nice buffet breakfast.

Location is bang central so good. The building has been splendid in its day. Mould on ceiling and signs of damp on curtains.

Unexpected victorian elegancy

Excellent value for money, amazing location, lovely to have use of the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room for the money. I’d say ‘faded grandeur’ is probably the best description for the hotel, it’s a bit tired. However for the price and location, it’s great - this was my second stay and the room this time was much nicer - overlooked the stations which was lovely and quiet. I’ll be back!

Location to train station. Reception service was slow. Receptionist informed me I use a walking stick I should have telephoned them to inform them I could not use the stairs as the room was on the 4th floor and then up 6 steps. Alternative room offered had kingsize bed but would be separated as we were 2 women requiring two beds. Recetionist would come over to inform us the room would be ready. After short while informed kingsize could not be separated into 2 beds but twin room available with lift to 4th floor and 4 steps up to the room. We accepted this room as the time was now 3.40pm and we wanted to get into the room. Dinner and breakfast was lovely. Only downfall was the reception service not very friendly.

Small room but clean .

Great location but the layout means you are walking a long way and up lots of stairs with luggage, our room had no windows except a roof light with a broken blind. The gym was old and mostly broken but the pool was good and staff friendly.

Always a comfortable and accomodating stay at this hotel. The best bit is always the breakfast.
4.0
Lovely hotel, easy check-in, large rooms only issue was it was too warm in bedroom no windows and when we asked for radiators to be turned off we were told they couldn't so fetched ice water and a fan but no plug sockets near bed so that was really a waste of time, so didn't have a good nights sleep.

Everything was as good as you would expect, except the late check out/ I tried to book and pay online, when it came to the last day they said it was not available. On the positive they were very good at looking after a case I needed collecting.
5.0
Hotel was lovely and central to city centre which we wanted, room was fabulous and clean,
Breakfast a bit over priced was the only negative.
Definitely stay again 😁

The room we had was a great size and very comfortable and fantastic location. Whilst our room was serviced each day we were annoyed that we had to call room service for fresh towels each day (even though we left dirty towels in bath as required)

The price was right.
Only one complaint - the shampoo bottle was empty in the shower.

Beautiful place, homeless camping outside begging at the entrance was an issue
