A stone’s throw away from the Ottauquechee River, this two-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage offers the charming Vermont escape you have been looking for. Freshly renovated and furnished with hand-crafted period furniture, this 1850s country cottage sits a few minutes away from both Woodstock and Quechee, Vermont.
With a mountain stream, expansive riverside views, and quiet roads ideal for walking and biking, this country cottage is the ultimate location to relax and enjoy the Vermont scenery or venture out for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. There is a window AC unit to help cool the home in the summer months, however, its wooded location helps to keep this quintessential New England home naturally cool.
Whatever time of year you decide to visit Vermont, you will enjoy Quechee’s spectacular views, convenience to recreational activities, and a comfortable feeling of luxury and seclusion. While offering the best of Vermont vacations, Quechee is convenient to Boston, New York, Albany, cultural and entertainment events, and nearby world-class health care (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center).
Quechee is centrally located between Woodstock, Vermont, and Hanover, New Hampshire (home of Dartmouth College). Hanover and Woodstock combine the quaintness of beautiful New England villages with the cultural sophistication of a college town. My wife and our large lab had a great stay at this home. Compared to some earlier reviews it seems like the owner had taken some steps to make the home more comfortable. Home was clean for check in and had everything we needed for our stay. We had unusually hot weather during our stay but window units on the first floor and in the bedrooms kept the home plenty comfortable. Would gladly stay again.

We liked the cottage and the tasteful renovations which preserved its historic nature. Loved the location's privacy and nature surrounding us. It was very warm over our stay and the AC units upstairs and down gave us more comfort. The linens were lovely, even if the mattress was a bit uncomfortable. There were no chairs on the deck and we wanted to sit outside often, so we bought inexpensive chairs and left them there. Our biggest complaint was with Vacasa's oversight. The cleaning crew did not remove the last guest's trash. I filled the container on the porch with it and contacted Vacasa to notify them and request a pick-up. The rep apologized and said they would contact the garbage company and promised a pick-up the next day. No pick-up occurred despite several requests made by me. I removed our trash and stuffed it in the can and hoped for removal before the next guest arrived. I would also add the cleaning service could have cleaned the kitchen better-cobwebs under cabinets, etc. I also could not locate the dishwasher which I was instructed to use before leaving. Not sure how I could have missed it after searching every cabinet in the kitchen...I did the few dishes we used with soap & water and wondered some more! Cottage is charming but if we return we will bring deck chairs, dish soap, garbage bags and a broom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We slept well and the location was perfect. We would like to visit again!

Cute house in a great location— private but close to town. The upstairs was a little warm, but one of the upper windows did have a screen. With the provided box fans, we were able to sleep in comfortably.

Beautiful, quiet location next to river with spectacular views of covered bridge & VT landscapes! Clean, cozy, bright, rustic home in wonderful rural Woodstock area. Home is conveniently close to most highways & the center of town. The spacious rooms have mix of period & contemporary furniture, adding to the charm. Had great outdoor deck & river view was certainly a big plus! A few deck chairs would have made that even better! The kitchen had all necessary items for nice stay, loved washer/dryer, Keurig, couple fans, big TV & the easy parking. The two nice, upstairs bedrooms were private, but be prepared for some stairway use..
Great time & very relaxing, we had super week here!

I always had a great experience staying with Vacasa. This place is not it. The place is probably over 100 years old. The floor is uneven, and the whole house feels like falling apart. Weird location, not a good stay, and do not recommend it. We heard super weird banging noises at night and woke us up. Weird vibes. Feels haunted.

The home is charming, immaculate and amidst woods with no neighbors in eye or earshot. It is on a dirt road, so an awd vehicle is a good idea. A stream runs along the driveway. The Ottauquechee River is across the road. The bathroom is on the first floor, and bedrooms on the second floor. The smoke detector goes off if you saute on the stove. I recommend learning how to turn off a wired in smoke detector. You should open the kitchen window when you saute, because most of the smoke detectors about 15 ft from the floor.
The road is a rural road, leading to other roads that extend to Billings Farm in Woodstock, terrific to walk on. Other places to walk are Happy Valley Road and the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Park. If you time your walk at the national park, leave an hour to get to South Peak to hear Woodstock's church bells, you will feel you've entered a Christmas card.
We ate at Pizza Chef, which plays terrific jazz, but wear warm clothes! Also at Simon Pearce- make your reservation a few weeks in advance for a weekend table. The food at both places was great.
The trip was a winter wonderland.

My partner, 2 dogs and I loved everything about this place. The house is beautifully restored and very comfortable and the location is private yet easily accessible to to a wide variety of adventurers

The house is located right next to a river and is surrounded by trees, ferns, and flowers--just a lovely lot! It's a short drive to Woodstock and Queechee, so it's great for exploring the area. The house itself has all of the supplies needed for cooking and hanging out with family. The stairs are quite steep, so it was a bit challenging to have bedrooms upstairs and the only bathroom downstairs. Unlike the photos, there was quite a bit of furniture and 2 air conditioners haphazardly placed in the bedrooms. The house could use a bit of attention to make it more welcoming. Our communication with the the host was just fine and everything happened as it should have. I also appreciated that the host checked in with us by text on the cleanliness of the house--that's not also ways done and was a nice touch.

This is the perfect winter Vermont-getaway house for people who: have a car that does well in snow/ice/mud and know how to drive it, know how to walk up an icy slope safely day or night, can handle a steep wooden staircase (with a good handrail), don’t mind going downstairs to use the bathroom, and don’t mind not being able to unpack.
Riverside Cottage is perfectly located near Woodstock and Quechee, near xc skiing and not too far from downhill.
The kitchen is wonderfully equipped with anything you could need.
There is only one closet in the whole house, in the entry, and it was locked, presumably containing the owners personal belongings. Across the entry sitting room, there was a metal clothing rack with 1 (ONE) hanger on it (but two ironing boards). Thus, upon entry, no place for winter/ski jackets, snow pants, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. Upstairs, in the two large bedrooms, there is no storage at all, no luggage racks, bureaus, or even hooks, just beds, nightstands, and a rocking chair. There are a few nooks, such as top of stairs, where closets could be created.
Otherwise, this is a perfectly charming place in a beautiful setting.
