Situated on the idyllic island of Mon, there is this former farmhouse with a huge beautiful garden overlooking the sea. Spacious and nicely incorporating its period features such as the stoves, thatched roof and the yard with its outbuildings. All amenities are there (complete kitchen, sun chairs, umbrella, BBQ etc.). With a proper bathroom I would have easily given five stars. Unfortunately, there is just one single sanitary room comprising a tiny shower cabinet, a toilet and a generous washing basin. Across the yard, the barn features a spare toilet and another shower, both rooms unheated and accessible via a laundry room shared with another property. General cleanliness and maintenance would also warrant more attention. That said, we enjoyed our stay and can recommend this location!

We stayed at this house between Christmas and New Years. If you like remote rural locations, on beach and forest - then this place is absolutely amazing! Stunning nature in all directions! We spent most of our time just lazing around in the local beach and forest, which was incredible! The home itself was very simple and very well maintained. Despite being the middle of winter, the home was easy to heat and keep warm. The home had every appliance and utensil you would ever need, and plenty of plates, glasses, pots, pans etc. All in all a great experience and I would definitely recommend it. I am sure it is absolutely amazing in the spring / summe time.

This was my family's first visit to Denmark, and our first holiday together for a long time. Overall, we had a wonderful time and I would certainly recommend it! As far as I am aware, we were the first British family to visit Strandgaarden, so there were some things that are perhaps a bit different for the British traveller to the mainland European. The main thing to be aware of is that the beds were not 'double' by British size, so I would suggest bringing bedding for a queen size bed, or a flat double sheet, or bedding for two single beds. Secondly, the welcome pack and information about the house was all in Danish and German, so make sure you're able to do a bit of translating, or request that it be provided to you in English! I would also suggest being aware that there are no wardrobes in the bedrooms. There are hangers in the house, and large chests of drawers. There are also no mirrors in the bedrooms, but there were several in the main part of the house and the bathroom. TV was good with occasional English things. The wifi worked, but it was a bit sporadic. The house was in beautiful condition, the shower was very warm and powerful. There are two showers, but we just used the one in the main house. The wood-burner was a real treat to use. The shops (Netto, Aldi, Superbrugsen) are about a 15 minute drive, but beware of lots of pheasants and hares jumping out into the road on your way! The beach was luscious, and the woodlands wonderful. If you are British, make sure you know what kind of milk you want to buy in Danish!
