What a fun time, very unique stay in a boat. Lots of room for 3 of us and the deck was so awesome to sit and have a beverage after a day of sightseeing. Han was a great host and was very helpful with our stay and getting us around. Highly recommend.

Han was an exceptional host. Even though we were 12 hours late getting to the houseboat. He was waiting for us and assisted us with our luggage and made sure we were comfortable. The houseboat was awesome. The location was amazing. We were within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The train station and Nemo Science museun were within walking distance also. We had all the conveniences you could ask for on the boat. It was nice to be able to sit on the patio and watch the boats go by. Han wven provided beer, wine, milk and juice for us. And the welcoming flowers were a plus. The only down side is if you have trouble going up and down. We are in our 60s and our grand is 6 and we had no problem. And we are not highly active. But it is something to think about. Overall the experience and location made up for all. And Han was awesome. If we ever come back to Amsterdam we will definitely stay here again. Thank you Han for an amazing 4 days in a houseboat.

From start to finish our stay with Han was fabulous! He was in contact before our arrival and was flexible when we had a train delay. The boat is conveniently located near Central Station and it was a short walk with our luggage to the houseboat.
He greeted us upon arrival and gave us a short tour of the boat and also advised locations of grocery stores, and other must have places. He also showed us the bikes that we could use.
The four of us (2 adults and 2 kids 11/14) did end up using the bikes to go to the store and they were very convenient. The boat was well kept, quiet and appointed with everything we needed during our stay. The location was great for getting around and our kids even swam in the bay!
Thanks for being such a great host, Han!

We wanted a different experience than the usual apartment and Han’s boat was it. Very clean and comfortable but requires some agility to move around…after all, it is a boat. Han was a great host and the location is a short walk to just about everywhere we wanted to go. I highly recommend Bamboo Boat if visiting Amsterdam

Nice, well maintained houseboat with everything in good condition. There are lots of windows and skylights so the boat is not dark. The boat has heating for the winter. The host is extremely nice and stored our luggage for us when we arrived at 11am from our flight. He also rushed the cleaning so we could check in early and nap—wonderful first place to stay after a long flight. There was a large supply of coffee pods for the machine which was appreciated! The area is very quiet after 10pm, the views from the boat are ideal with an outside sitting area. There are bikes you can use to explore the city. It is only 8-10 min walk from central station (follow the instructions emailed, not Google maps) and there are grocery stores within a 10 min walk.
There is a short ladder that you need to use to access the main bedroom/living area and the 2nd bedroom requires some dexterity to access so you need to have full mobility. This is a wonderful place to stay for families (especially teenagers), and young couples with plenty of space to spread out and relax. I highly recommend taking a bike tour outside the city to see some of the countryside—most tours start in walking distance from this place.

I cannot recommend Han's houseboat enough. We spent a delightful week and it was a real WOW experience. After long days exploring Amsterdam, the cool breeze off the water and gentle rocking of the boat was remarkably relaxing. Many of the major tourist sites are within walking distance. Centraal Station is only a ten-minute walk, and from there you can go anywhere. Even with four of us, the houseboat was spacious and had everything we needed. The location was serene and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. Han was very responsive and even had beautiful flowers and beverages for us upon arrival. Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy this gem!

This was a really cool place to stay. Han was a terrific host, very welcoming and accommodating. He met us at the end of his little road and even carried my suitcase to the boat. Han acclimated us to the boat, explaining where everything was, and how to take care of the boat. He had flowers throughout the space, and had some beverages in the upstairs refrigerator. The main Iiving space has a couch, a desk, small refrigerator, kitchen sink and hot pot. From here one can access one sleeping area and one bathroom. Down a ships ladder to a larger space, with another sleeping area, eating table, bathroom, closet, kitchen area, and sitting area. The kitchen does not have a cooking stove, Han told us rental boats cannot have them. But there was an espresso machine, toaster, refrigerator, dishwasher, hot plate, lots of cookware, dishes, and silverware. The outside area was lovely, with comfortable seating. It was the perfect place to watch the Kings Day festivities, with lots of boat traffic in front of the boat. The boat was very clean and well equipped. Central station , grocery stores and attractions were within walking distance. Although perfect for us, those with mobility issues, and claustrophobia, would find it a challenging place to stay. Han lives in half the boat and is available if, and when, you need him. But he is very respectful of your privacy.

Full of character - quirky, in a good way! - and in a wonderful location convenient for Amsterdam Centraal. Clean, comfortable, with a friendly and helpful host. Great all round!

Loved it !!!!!!
Absolutely fabulous. Loved the bottle of wine and warm welcome as we arrived. Was peaceful right in the heart of the city.

Our two adults and two kids (3 and 7) had a great time in a week on this houseboat. There was plenty of space — the kids took the “lower” bedroom and the adults took the one adjacent to the dining and kitchen area. The inside was cozy and comfortable whatever the weather (highly variable from sun to hailstorms!) and we enjoyed hanging out on the deck when the weather allowed.
The owner, Hans, was always available and was helpful throughout the stay, from meeting us at check-in to when we needed ice after our younger daughter bumped her face.
We didn’t use the bikes much because we rented ones with child seats, but I did ride one to the store after we returned our rentals and it was ten times better! A great asset to have on hand.
Would gladly stay here again!

My husband and I were traveling with another couple to Amsterdam and were looking for a unique lodging experience. This was the perfect place for the four of us. The boat was warm, comfortable and had everything we needed. Han met us at arrival and showed us around. He left us with fresh cut flowers and beverages and was available if we needed him. The location is so close to everything but very quiet. We can't imagine staying anywhere else when we go back. Thank you Han - hope to see you again soon!

The apartment is unique and in a spectacular and very central location. Han was very helpful.

We enjoyed Han‘s place very much. It was very convenient to Amsterdam within walking distance of many things. The bed was very comfortable. If I was to suggest any changes, it would be to get a microwave. We could have used it once or twice. Thank you very much!

Thoroughly enjoyed our wee stay on Bamboo Boat. The location is super central so just perfect for us. The boat is more roomy than the photos make it appear. Was clean and comfy and a fun place to stay. It would be tricky if you have limited mobility. You can’t cook on the boat, not a bother for us as we were out and about the entire time. Otherwise the kitchen is well kitted out with 2 fridges, wee dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster. Great to have the bikes too. Han was super responsive and helpful before and during our visit. Thanks Han :)

Han is a wonderful host and his house boat was great! Our kids enjoyed their sleeping nook, and we also slept well. It was nice having our own space and it felt calm and peaceful on the boat even though we were only a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the city. The boat has everything you need; I just had to learn to navigate in the small boat bathrooms.

My family of four enjoyed our stay immensely. We were delayed by lost luggage and Han waited for us to make sure we got situated. The boat was great fun, well equipped and exactly as described. The location is very convenient, and the views from the boat are amazing. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Amsterdam!

We stayed on the houseboat for three nights and greatly enjoyed our stay! The boat accommodated four of us easily, beds were comfortable, and it was a luxury to have two bathrooms. Han was a superb host who met us on site when we arrived to show us around, stocked the boat with coffee and drinks, provided four bikes free of charge, and put out fresh cut flowers. The location was amazing just minutes from the train station, restaurants, and museums yet in a quiet location with a peaceful view of the waterfront. There was even a friendly neighborhood cat who came by to visit. We definitely recommend this boat if you are planning a trip to Amsterdam!

The boat is absolutely gorgeous and in a perfect spot! Our host was very hospitable and had also provided us with a very generous welcome pack. Waking distance from everything and incredibly quiet and peaceful. Travelling with teens so the extra shower and toilet came in very handy ! We will be back :-)

The houseboat is a great place to stay while in Amsterdam. Han is a great host. Our flight was delayed by over an hour so we arrived late. Han was flexible with our arrival even met us halfway from the train station. He gave us a tour and made sure we were comfortable. The location is great to walk, take the train or the tram. We slept great, beds are comfortable and location is quiet. We would love to stay there again on our next visit.

House boat was fantastic! Han was a great host and has done some great personal customized carpentry and other nice features to his house boat. The place is well put together and very convenient walk from Centraal Station and many other attractions in Amsterdam. We came with our 2 elementary aged boys and they loved it!

Han was extremely helpful and the stay was fantatstic. Brilliant position in central Amsterdam. Loved the boat. Comfortable, warm and clean. Characterful to say the least. The added benefit of having bikes supplied for us to use was very much appreciated. Thankyou Han.

Getting on and off the boat is safe and easy as there are security lights and anti slip matting.
Like all other reviews one of the bedrooms has a very low ceiling and no space either side of the bed but my son who is over 6ft loved it in there.
There is also a TV in the bedroom with the curtains which was cosy.
Using the free bikes was great fun and the central location is just perfect. Once in bed it is very quiet and you wouldn’t know you were in the middle of a city.

Location of houseboat is excellent. Very close to central station, canal tours etc and 20 minutes walking distance to most museums. But happily it is off the beaten path and once there, tourists disappear. Hon, the host, is very accommodating. He lives right nearby and is quick to respond. The houseboat experience is a once in a lifetime. Especially fun for a family.

I am glad I read reviews of this property first, as I was at least a little prepared for the trickiness of arriving, climbing over two other boats, on unlit steps, and down more narrow steps to get in. The boat itself is also tricky to get around - steep stairs/ladders, narrow scrambly entrance to one of the sleeping areas, and rather a slippery floor. Having said that, it was a quirky, characterful place to stay. Unfortunately, against the description, the kitchen is no longer fully functioning (only a toaster, single hot plate, coffee maker and kettle available) but for us this didn't matter as we only had breakfast there. It grew on us, and I do have to say, I did enjoy my "hobbit hole" bedroom with the porthole just above water level, listening to the lapping waves as I went to sleep. It is a warm boat, which as we visited in December, was a blessing! The best thing though is the location. You can see the station from the boat (10 mins walk) and most other attractions are within 20 or 25 minutes walk. We briefly met Han, the owner, on check in. He lives on the boat too, so there in case of emergencies, otherwise our paths didn't cross. I recommend, but definitely for those happy to scramble about.

Found out last minute that there’s no cooking on the boat. Getting to sleeping quarters can be a challenge to some seniors. Stairs going into the (no cook) galley creak to the point of waking up. The outdoor space was the most fabulous feature.

A unique experience not to be missed. Much more fun than a hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights after our river cruise, so we had a bit of luggage. Han greeted us and kindly assisted with getting our luggage inside, where we found fresh flowers up top and below, as well as juice, wine and beer he had provided for us. Everything was immaculately clean. Located close to a grocery store, bakeries and a variety of restaurants, as well as the metro, canal cruise boats and buses. And despite being on a fairly busy canal, the boat is well insulated, warm and quiet. Recommend giving it a try unless you have mobility issues, as there is a short, uneven walk over the top of other boats and steep stairs down to the lower apartment. Thanks, Han, for sharing your place with us!

The bamboo boat is a wonderful experience- great location, large , comfortable and fun! The boat is an easy walk from Central Station and though it is centrally located it’s quiet and restful at night. Han is a great host - he left lovely flowers and cold drinks for us and made sure we had warm blankets. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Note that the boat is not for everyone - there are several stairs outside and though it’s well lit and there are guard rails, climbing aboard with suitcases is a bit challenging. Inside the boat the lower level is accessed by a ladder - manageable and frankly part of the fun - if this sounds like fun to you. We had not been to Amsterdam since we were in college - what a beautiful city. We absolutely loved it. Highly recommend some time in Amsterdam and highly recommend the cozy fun of the magical bamboo boat.

I hope to return to this boat in the future. Great location, short walk from central train station. Hannity had bottle if wine, beer and orange juice in fridge when arrived. Walking distance to lots of attractions. Thanks again Han

The location couldn't be better - right in the center of everything - but sitting on the deck looking out at the canal was incredibly peaceful. Hans was very welcoming and the boat had everything you needed. Wonderful stay.

Our family stayed 4 days in this amazing boat. Everything exceeded our expectations from the unique charm to the incredible location which put us within a short walk to literally everything we wanted to see and do. Han, our host, was helpful and very easy to deal with. Riding the four free bikes around the city will be a lifelong memory for our kids. Thank you Han.

This place is great. It is actually 2 apartments. The downstairs is actually much brighter than one would expect with portholes right at water level and skylights. Very quiet but only a short walk to the center and the train station. As others have said, the approach and set up of the apartment requires decent agility - short sturdy ladder to get to lower apartment and uneven surfaces on the way to the boat. The deck is awesome! Han was a pleasant and accommodating host ! I would come again if I have the chance!
