Casa Joaquim is a charming 3 bedroom town house, with air conditioning, situated in the heart of Tavira.
A spacious interior combining traditional architectural details, wooden peak ceilings, wooden doors, shutters and floors, skylights, glass brick walls, Moroccan and terracotta tiles and furnished with charming antique and modern furniture.
This self-catering townhouse, is accessed by a stone staircase from a small private courtyard. There is a shaded terrace on the top floor, leading from the kitchen with a marble table, chairs and reclining chairs.
Providing plenty of light, space and comfort with entertainment for staying in with Wi-Fi/, Cable TV with 60 channels and a DVD player.
On entering there is a zip-up twin bedded room, beds that can be separated, with air conditioning, a spacious living room, full bathroom and a further bedroom with a double bed, air conditioning and fitted wardrobes.
Wooden stairs lead up from the living room to another floor with a large air conditioned double bedroom, full bathroom and an ample newly refurbished modern kitchen with air conditioning and a terrace, allowing for dining inside or outside.
Lovely spacious and beautifully furnished bedrooms, all of which have air conditioning and comfortable beds with good mattresses and linen.
Two reclining sun loungers deck the shaded terrace, a table and chairs are also available.
A stones’ throw from restaurants, bars and shops.
Tavira Island beach can be reached by ferry boat from just across the river, a 4 minute walk away. You will discover wonderful golden, sandy beaches, beach bars and restaurants on an island 10 miles by 1. The town ferry runs regularly from the end of may to the end of September. There is an alternate ferry service from 2km down river which runs all year.
There are excellent golf courses within 5 to 10 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.
A car is not at all essential. Tavira offers plenty of local entertainment and places of interest.
Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative. The accommodation is suitable for children, taking in account that there are two flights of stairs.
There is a cot and high chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.
This is a centrally located townhouse with close proximity to neighbours, restaurants, late-licenced bars and shops. Tavira skyline is like a patchwork of close knit terraces and rooftops, which can be overlooked… adding to the character and experience of town life!

The house is located near all of the important things that you need, restaurants, supermarkets, a ferry to an island where you can go swimming and much more. Everything is accessable by foot. Once we arrived we were greeted by an super friendly host who gave us a lot of helpful tips. Adding to this experience, the whole house was super clean and filled with everything we needed. Overall an amazing stay, would definitely recommend!

Jonny and Angie were great hosts from the booking process and supply of information to meeting us at the property and attending to our needs swiftly and efficiently. The property is very well equipped and the location is perfect for local eateries, supermarket and the 4 minutes walk to the ferry for trips to the beach. This property is just lovely, well exceeding our expectations. Communication with Angie and Jonny both before our arrival and during was excellent. They kindly arranged taxis to and from Faro airport for us.
We have two teenagers, so the house worked perfectly. The kids having the gorgeous downstairs rooms, sharing their own bathroom, whilst we had the bedroom upstairs with our own bathroom. The vaulted wooden ceilings in the upstairs bedroom and kitchen are so pretty. The kitchen is very modern and well appointed. It even had a teapot, which i loved! The AC was a godsend on the plus 30c days. The terrace is not huge but perfect, it has a fabric awning which you can lower for shade. There is a washing machine too, which means we packed light and just did a few loads. We didnt have a car, but being so central it didnt matter at all. The supermarket is a 5 min walk, there is gorgeous bakery 2 doors down (Mr.Portugese) plus cafes and restaurants nearby. The ferry to the beach is just over the bridge, so close. We found the restaurants this side of the river much less touristy than the other side. We recommend Terraze, La Salto and Ti Maria Tapas. Tavira isn't a massive place, the main attraction is definitely the gorgeous beach. However, we were after a very chilled break, so for us it was perfect. I cannot wait to come back and stay in Casa Joaquim again!

We had a great 3 week stay here and loved the town of Tavira. The apartment was perfect for our stay and was well equipped for the breakfasts and occasional meals we had in vs dining out. Angie was very responsive when we contacted her. 2 minor issues beyond their control:
The free parking beside Pingo Doce was a bit of a challenge at times with us getting the last spot on more than 1 occasion. Too bad there are so many unused cars taking up spots there while waiting for service in nearby shops.
New piping was being installed all around our part of town and not sure if it was from that work, but sometimes there was a funky smell seemingly coming from the drains.
Otherwise, great spot in a great location.

A Lovely and comfortable property in the heart of Tavira. A 5 minute walk from all the shops, restaurants and ferry stop to get to the beach. The property had everything we needed for our stay and there was prompt communication with the owners when we needed it. Our family particularly enjoyed relaxing and eating on the terrace every night. Would highly recommend!
The property is on two levels and the steps to enter the house are steep so it is not suitable for anyone with reduced mobility. The stovetop espresso pots were unusable but there were two other options of coffee makers that we used during our stay.

Beautiful house in the prettiest town. We were so lucky as there was a music festival on and we got to see different bands every night in the town. I loved the cobbled streets and sitting down with a cold beer and people watching.
The ferry to the beach is 5 minutes away from the house and for €2 you get a return ticket.
Beaches are beautiful, powder sands and plenty of bars and restaurants.
We had some of the best food in the smaller restaurants. Local places are just the best.
The house was ideal for us, 5 adults. We spent most of our time there sitting on the balcony just off the kitchen. Such a nice area to sit and eat drink and chat.
We loved it in Tavira that we will definitely be back.

Tolles Haus, schöne Lage, gute Ausstattung, aber: de facto liegt das haus direkt hinter einer nachtbar, die von abends bis locker 3, 4 uhr nachts lärm macht. zwei schlafzimmer sind so de facto unbenutzbar.
Ich denke, das muss man entweder abstellen oder klar im angebot vermerken.

Great property and good location
This was a very spacious, lovely, and enjoyable property for us. The location is quiet, convenient, and walkable to everything in Tavira. It is just set back from the river and there are numerous restaurants for evening dining within 10 minutes walk.
All the bedrooms had air-conditioning which was nice, and the beds were comfortable as well.
The outdoor patio was ideal and made the perfect spot for us to visit, spend hours playing cards and sipping excellent Portuguese wine.
The kitchen was very well equipped. We used the large nearby market to buy items to make our breakfasts at home each day and items for one very good at-home dinner after a long day at the beach.
We have been traveling Spain and Portugal by car for 7 weeks, and for our group, this was one of the best of the 8 house rentals we have done on this trip.
One note: Like many older homes in the region - this is a vertical layout on three floors. So, if you have trouble with stairs, it may not be the best choice for you. For us, however, it was perfect.

This property was perfect for our family of 4 with 2 children age 10 and 12. The rooms were spacious, the upper patio was excellent and the kitchen was well-equipped. The value for price was surprising and the location was ideal.

Wonderful location and home
We couldn’t have chosen a better location for our stay in Tavira. Any of the services we needed such as groceries, pharmacy,restaurants, bike rental, were no more than a ten minute walk, and I’m a slow walker! The Roman Bridge and walk along the river was not even five minutes. The house was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The three bedrooms were large and beautifully furnished with antiques and had large bright windows. The two bathrooms were roomy and convenient. We didn’t get to use the outside patio off of the kitchen as much as we would have liked to because the weather was not conducive, but we enjoyed it on the nice days. We also appreciated the convenience of being able to store our bikes inside the enclosed space just inside the front door.
We hope to get back to Tavira and will certainly stay at Casa Joaquin again.

Insgesamt ein sehr schöner Kurzurlaub! Die Unterkunft sehr sauber, traditionell und doch modern. Zum Empfang gab es ein kleines Lunchpaket, da der Supermarkt schon geschlossen hatte. Mit der Fähre kommt man stündlich bequem zum langen Sandstrand. Sehr zu empfehlen!

A casa Joaquim está no melhor sítio de Tavira. A 2 minutos do centro, do ferry de acesso á praia e de todo o comércio.
A casa está muito bem equipada e a distribuição dos quartos é ideal para uma família, ou grupo de amigos.
Os anfitriões foram muito simpáticos, tendo enviado um mensagem, sem pedirmos, a dizer que podíamos sair mais tarde.

Nous étions 4 adultes et 2 enfants à occuper pendant 9 jours cette très belle maison.
Très propre, très bien située , nous avons vraiment apprécié notre séjour.
Par contre, la communication avec l’agence en charge de la location a été moyennement satisfaisante: personne à notre arrivée malgré les messages laissés comme convenu, personne pour notre départ et nous indiquer les différentes procédures. Dommage.

La comunicación con Angie desde un primer momento fue perfecta y tanto el check-in como el check-out fue muy fácil. La ubicación de la casa es ideal ya que está en el mismo centro de Tavira, teniendo lugares de ocio y restauración a escasos minutos. El no tener parking propio no es un problema ya que se puede aparcar perfectamente en las calles de alrededor. Cabe destacar que a la llegada nos dejaron agua, zumo, una botella de vino de la zona....detalles que marcan la diferencia.
En la casa hay información de qué hacer tanto en Tavira como en los alrededores, y todo tipo de utensilios y objetos para disfrutar de las playas (sombrillas, juguetes, carrito,...), terraza con barbacoa, y una cocina espectacular que parece sacada de un catálogo con todo lo que puedes necesitar.
Ningún pero se le puede poner a la casa y sin lugar a dudas, repetiremos si podemos.

Loved our time in Tavira! And we were mostly comfortable in the accommodation.
The kitchen is very well equipped and the upstairs bedroom is very comfortable. We were very confused about where to park even though we were told to park up the street. I am suggesting that you update your booklet to provide more specific information about times one can park on the street and when one cannot park and if one can park overnight and where the free, long term parking lots are etc. People on the street told us to move our car but we were not sure to where? We were never able to get the downstairs heater on so were chilly the first few days. Directions to the Supermarket would have been helpful. We eventually found it. Apart from this, we were very happy and would recommend to our friends if this information is more clearly communicated. Thank you

Tavira is a lovely city. Lots of wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance.
We loved every minute of our stay.
Property manager very helpful and any problems were sorted quickly and efficiently.
Taxi service was excellent. No need to hire car. Bakery next door and supermarket a short walk.

Great location in Tavira!
Tavira is lovely and charming and this apartment is as well. It’s in a great location where you can walk anywhere you want to be in Tavira. We walked to the ferry to go to the beach, we walked to great dinners every night, we walked for coffee and pastry in the mornings.
The apartment is on the 2nd and 3rd floor with one bedroom on the 3rd floor and two one the 2nd. There is a wonderful patio off the kitchen on the 3rd floor where you can eat, read, sun, relax. Even though there is a lot going on during August and the Portuguese get started late and stay up late, the apartment is well insulated and sounds from the street were never an issue. The kitchen is well stocked and it’s easy to cook meals there if you prefer that to going out. (But the restaurants are great and very reasonable so don’t cook too much!)
We were two couples, my mom and her husband are in their mid-70s. They did just fine with the stairs to and in the apartment.
Beds are comfy, plenty of towels. No complaints! We had a fabulous stay!

Lovely patio off the newly renovated and fully stocked kitchen. Beds very comfortable and nicely sized. All 3 bedrooms were air conditioned. Be aware the unit is 2nd and 3rd story so getting large or heavy bags up the stairs was challenging. Living room could use a bit of updating.

Location very central lovely sunny rooftop terrace. Lay out worked well with two family bathrooms. Well equipped modern kitchen. November was probably a bit late as needed calor gas in the lounge area which was basically the hallway but would imaging great all round property during the summer.

The house is very well presented, spacious and has everything needed for self catering, and a delightful terrace which we used for all our meals - great weather! The air con was extremely welcomed.
There is definitely no need for a car to access most areas of the town, which has a good variety of restaurants. One of the nearest was La Petite France (very well worth a visit) but, be aware, that this and some others did not accept credit cards.
A large supermarket is within walking distance - useful for immediate necessities.
We did have to wait to meet up with the agent for the key when we arrived, which was rather irritating after the journey and the reason why we could not give it 5 stars. However, otherwise good, friendly service, which would encourage us to return.

A beautiful house with full of charm
We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at this property the house was beautifully restored and had everything you could want. The area of the house is spot on plenty of beautiful restaurants close by. We especially recommend La Petite France just a street behind the house. A stroll across the bridge and down the side of the estuary brings you to the ferry port which takes you to the stunning Ilse of Tavira. Our overall experience of the house was fantastic and Tavira itself a was a true gem. We will definitely be returning to this amazing house.
