About this house rental

Come & enjoy a stay in our cosy, sympathetically refurbished period cottage. Circa 1600 Bailiffs cottage was built for the Bailiff of the Castle & bought by Sir Edward Coke, Lord Chief Justice of England, Earl of Leister in 1615, along with associated houses, Castle & Priory. Bailiffs Cottage is a truly charming & unique cottage with many original features. Entered by the front door straight into a lovely inviting large open sitting room with a fabulous inglenook fireplace and many lovely original oak ceiling beams with Norfolk pamments & brick floor. The kitchen is a modern extension, a large impressive room with a fabulous lantern sky light and a sleek brand new fitted kitchen with a fantastic breakfast bar and a dining table for 6. French doors lead out into a very private, fully fenced garden, so your four legged friend will be secure here!
Upstairs is reached by an impressive Cast Iron spiral staircase, the wooden floor boards give the upstairs character and charm that you would expect to see in a period cottage. There are two double bedrooms, one features a pretty clawfoot bath, the other has an internal Juliet Balcony overlooking the pretty front garden, both rooms are a good size, one has a Kingsize bed the other a Double bed. On the landing there is a bathroom with a large shower.

The Village of Castle Acre is a real gem! It has so much appeal for visitors, a real must to visit is spectacular English Heritage Ruined Priory, a Ruined Castle & an impressive large church. There are numerous walks around the village including a very pretty walk along a meandering stream which runs alongside the priory, it really is such a tranquil and beautiful walk. The water is so clear and inviting & often in summer children and dogs can be seen enjoying a paddle in the ice cold water! Castle Acre is also on the well known Peddars Way route, attracting many keen walkers.
