About this apartment rental
Welcome to this private 900 square foot (83 m2) apartment conveniently located just 4 miles (a 15-minute drive) from Newark Airport (EWR). Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall is only 1 mile away. There are 3 separate bedrooms. There is one bathroom with full tub/shower. The kitchen is spacious and equipped. There is a living room with a sofa, work desk and chair, and a 32-inch Fire TV. No parties, events, or smoking of any kind -- strictly enforced. Street parking only.
This apartment is the entire first floor of a two-story house. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and one bedroom has a twin bed. The larger bedroom in the rear of the apartment has a Fire TV. The living room has a sofa where an additional person can sleep. There is a Fire TV also in the living room. The apartment works well if you are tourists coming to visit New York or Jersey Gardens Mall, a family spending time in New Jersey, or students and professionals that need a private space to work remotely.
You will have exclusive and private access to this apartment during your stay. It is located on the first floor of a 2-unit house. You will not have access to the other floor of the house (that is a different apartment).
I am available via the Airbnb platform before and during your stay to help you have a pleasant and comfortable experience.
Stores, restaurants, churches, etc. within walking distance. This is a mostly residential neighborhood with a large Latin American presence.
NJ Transit Bus No. 24 stops about one block away from the property and can take you to Jersey Gardens Mall and also to the Elizabeth Train Station (get off at the corner of Jersey St and Broad St in Downtown Elizabeth) where you can catch a train to New York City. Total travel time from the apartment to New York City is approximately 1 hour. This bus also goes to Downtown Newark NJ.
There is no parking included in this rental. You will need to find parking on the nearby streets. You will be responsible for your vehicle and any parking violations you may receive.
Please note that heat is provided from October 1 to April 30. Air conditioning is provided from May 1 to September 30.

Self check-in and check-out are available. I have a lockbox with keys at the entry door to the building. I will send you the code to the lock box on the day of your arrival.
The check-in window is 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm. If you are planning to arrive after 11:00 pm, you must clear this with me. I may not be available to support you during check-in if you arrive very late at night.
Newark airport (EWR) is 4 miles away from this apartment. It is a short 15-minute taxi or Uber ride away.
Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall is only 1 mile away and can be reached by Bus No. 24B that stops nearby. You could also walk to the mall if you want. It would probably take about 20 minutes to walk there.
NJ Transit Bus No. 24 stops about one block away from the property and can take you to Jersey Gardens Mall and also to the Elizabeth Train Station (get off at the corner of Jersey St and Broad St in Downtown Elizabeth) where you can catch a train to New York City. Total travel time from the apartment to New York City is approximately 1 hour. This bus also goes to Downtown Newark NJ.
There is no parking included with this rental (the house does not have a driveway). You may park on the nearby streets, which is free, but you just need to pay attention to the street cleaning signs. The City of Elizabeth cleans each street one morning per week and those times are posted on signs. I cannot be responsible if you receive a parking ticket.
Please also note that this apartment is located in an older house. Some recent guests have arrived with higher expectations than what I can provide given the age of the house and layout of the apartment. The apartment looks like the photos in the listing and I keep it updated and clean. It is a basic space with basic amenities. If you are looking for a functional and competitively priced place close to New York City and Newark Airport EWR, this would be a good space for you. If you are looking for a modern and luxury stay, this is probably not the place for you.
I also just want to make clear that you are renting an Airbnb and not a hotel room. There are many differences between Airbnb and hotels, and some newer guests on Airbnb may not realize it. Hotels are large and often have many rooms, and the ability to change your room should issues arise. Hotels also have staff 24/7 that can help you with every issue or questions that you may have. On the other hand, I am an individual host and manage my listings to the best of my ability. I try hard to create a good experience for my guests. I am including this disclaimer here because I have recently seen a rise in guests that seem to view Airbnb as very similar to a hotel, but in reality it is quite different. Thank you in advance for understanding this.
Finally, I have a yacht parked not too far from this location. If you are coming to the New York area for tourism and you would like a private boat tour of New York Harbor, I would be happy to arrange it. The views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, etc. are amazing out on the water. Please contact me for more details if you are interested in a tour. Thank you.
Before you arrive you will be asked to complete guest verification through third-party provider Superhog. This is done to ensure we are keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations as well as providing both our guests and our properties with extra protection. Superhog will contact you via email and/or text to complete the verification. Please do so prior to arriving at the property to enable a quick and easy check-in process. You will also be given the choice between a security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver. This process is required. It is not optional. You will not be given access to the listing unless your status is "approved" from Superhog. You will need a valid credit card in order to complete this process. We are fully disclosing this here so that a guest cannot claim after booking that this was not disclosed.
Guests are responsible for bagging all garbage and placing the bags in the bins outside the building, or at the curb, as instructed by the host (host will communicate with guest regarding this).
Also, guests must leave the apartment in the condition they found it (e.g. no leftover food, nothing that creates a need for excessive or deep cleaning). Please wash all dishes that you use, remove food that you've brought in, and discard all trash. My cleaning fee is lower than most Airbnbs and it covers basic cleaning like washing of linens and towels, vacuuming, etc. The cleaning fee does not cover deep cleaning, excessive kitchen and bathroom cleaning, etc. Thanks for your cooperation!
If you check out late, there will be a $100 per hour fee for each hour or fraction of an hour that you stay beyond the check out time.
If you smoke, use incense, use drugs of any kind (including marijuana and cannabis) anywhere on the property including outside areas and common areas, I will charge a $300 fee. If there are damages related to smoking or drug use, I will charge fees in addition to this $300.
