The location is fantastic. It's location on the seawall trail is perfect. We were able to walk easily from the hotel to and around Stanley park.
Also, the neighborhood has great dining options.
4.3
The property has character and the dining room has one of the best views in the city. Staff are friendly and servers were accommodating with our choice of seating in the dining room. There was live music on Sunday night that was great. The rooms are in good shape, not super modern but clean and well maintained, handsome, spacious, all the amenities wifi etc. parking is also easy and convenient, no valet required.
4.3
The room was clean and very comfortable. The staff was cheerful, welcoming and personable.
nothing. We loved the hotel, its location and its ambience.

Nada

Loved the location - within walking distance of everything- beach, park, restaurants and shops. Very comfortable bed, clean room. Every staff member was friendly and helpful.

A friendly homely hotel
No air conditioning on very warm nights

Location and ambience are great.
Staff was indifferent and uninterested in us at every stage. There is no air conditioning which makes the hotel hot and uncomfortable.
4.3
A quiet and very comfortable room, plus a fine cooked breakfast with a beautiful view. 😎😎

Love the old building and the location
Elevator not working

Location on the West End was good. Walking distance to most things we wanted to do. Beach front was beautiful and right out the door.
Slight delay at check in to verify the room was ready. Only 1 functioning elevator but we were on the second floor so not a problem for us.

Fabulous location right on English Bay. Great live music in the lounge and super comfortable and clean room.
Loved everything

The staff. Reliable, helpful, informative. Always a smile. Excellent food and bar. The partial view from my window. Could lie in bed and watch the water. Definitely location. Close to everything. No car needed. Even pick up at hotel for tours. Awesome!! Will definitely book again when in Vancouver.
Absolutely nothing to report.

Location, history, food, comfortable and good value.
Rooms could be a bit warmer.

Staff, restaurant meal, cleanliness
Last morning ran out of hot water!

When we booked the room, nothing was evident that there was a $100 cleaning deposit. We didn't find out about that until we were checking in. Not a good surprise.

Lovely older hotel in a wonderful location. We were upgraded to a suite with a separate living room, full kitchen and bedroom. We were staying with 3 other couples so our room became the gathering place which was great for all of us.
the cleaner is a pinesol type product that lingers in the air.

The location is great for walking around English Bay.
I love the ambience with a sense of history.
No problems...

location!
they have no free slippers and the carpet floor is kinda old and not sure if it’s sanitized

location. green space, quiet, Oceanside,
staff all very attentive, happy. positive and gave you the feeling everything was possible
dog friendly.
beautiful heritage building
windows opened
having a jig in the room would have been handy to make a cup of tea. By no means a necessity, just a nice to have.

Great location to just park your car for a day or two while visiting the city. Loads of good restaurants & groceries within an easy walk. easy walk along the sea wall to Stanley Park or take the foot ferry across Kitsilano & Granville Island.
4.3
older hotel with class, quality, history and on the ocean.
it was all good.

The Sylvia is on English Bay and as such, is the perfect hotel for summer time, or any time in fact. The path along the beach is a great place to go for a walk and there are is so much interesting activity on the beach. On top of that, there are plenty of great restaurants nearby.

The location on english bay
The management was rude judgemental who after one day kicked me out, because of an assumption. Leaving me in the street with all my luggage with no place to go. The reason for kicking me out was not reasonable, nor true. They waited till I left the hotel to illegally enter my room and pack my bags on their trolley. The amount I paid did not reflect the cost on bookings. com. They refunded 145$ out of the 553$ I paid for a 2 night stay. Than kept my deposit. The management was rude n judgemental trying to spout covid regulations gave him the right to evict me because I had 3 guests from town visiting me, even though the restaurant area did not follow covid regulations. This is one of the Worse run hotel. The management had the arrogance to email me asking about my next stay would be better if I didn't book it through bookings.com. they didn't uphold the reservation for a room with 2 queen sized beds for me n my helper who was helping me move. Their actions cost me quite a bit if money no savings or anything. This is one of the worse hotel stays I've ever had and recommend that anyone from the gay community to not cater to this prejudice and poorly run hotel. Waiting for someone to go out of the hotel after I been there for more than half the day than say they tried to get ahold of me when I went by the front desk numerous times is a dispicable act that I am going to take legal action against. The owners of this hotel have better fire the management and most of the front desk staff for this. Or I'll sue the hotel owners for allowing this kind of unprofessional behavior to occur. Gives hotels in the area a bad name.
