Great Place to be

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is charming. Very small, but great for the two of us. The hot water in the outdoor shower felt great. We enjoyed walking the trails around the cottage. Great stay for us.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here! The cottage is beautiful, clean, and correspondence was easy! We’d stay again if ever in the country.

We enjoyed our stay. Cabin was perfect setting. Could have used blackout curtains but loved it including the outdoor shower

Very quaint and private. Everything was great. Hot tub needs a new cover. Very hard to operate. Hot tub was clean. Host was awesome

We had a perfect stay here,
A complete warm home , not big but big enough to have a lovely time.

The view from the cabin over the pond toward the mountains is very nice. The hot tub was magnificent. The top is very heavy, opening it takes 2. Please note the outdoor shower is the only shower. Bathroom is small. Beds are comfy. Kitchen is well equipped. Very quiet relaxing stay. Walking trails nearby a bonus!

Delightful cottage for day tripping around Iceland. Couldn’t have asked for a better or more equipped home. So grateful for this gem that made our stay in Iceland the absolute best experience.

Such a magical experience! Cozy stay for a couple. Enjoyed the outdoor shower and hot tub.
Waking up to the view from the picture window was breathtaking.
Twinkle lights, cozy blankets, and quaint radio set the stage for unforgettable moments

Location was absolutely beautiful. We loved it! We would for sure stay there again.

My wife and I enjoyed that this house is very close to Reykiavik, yet you feel like you are in a more rural setting due to its location next to the nature reserve. We had great car access to the Golden Circle, Southern Coast, and areas farther west (including Snaefellsnes) for a little more of a drive. The house is close to local restaurants so we got to enjoy some great Icelandic food at reasonable prices.
The nature reserve is filled with hiking/biking paths so you can continue your enjoyment of the natural beauty this area has to offer without driving anywhere. Also, we got lucky two nights in a row, and saw the northern lights from the house. It's location really limits light pollution.
The outdoor shower and hot tub are great features. I didn't think the outdoor shower would be a thing, but I agree with prior reviewers that the hot shower mixed with colder temps is quite refreshing.
If we could change one thing, we would suggest that the owner charge a cleaning fee and have the unit cleaned by a third party instead of having the renters do it. We spent a portion of our last day cleaning instead of touring, and would have been happy to pay so we could have the time vacationing.

Paradise cottage was the perfect base camp to explore Iceland. Close to Reykjavik if needed but also in a quiet natural setting with trails to run and explore and a beautiful view. It’s small by American standards (the size was perfectly fine with these Americans) but it has everything you need from cookware, a hairdryer, robes, very comfortable beds and we used the hot tub every day. My entire family agrees that I did a fabulous job finding this gem!

I stayed at this beautiful well equipped home for 8 days with my son while visiting Iceland from the US. The location inside Heidmork is absolutely breathtaking on its own! You are basically living within a nature park! The home is only 20 minutes from Reykjavik, so it is a great location to take in the city sights as well as being a home base for touring around the south and west of Iceland. We even spent a day just walking and hiking around Heidmork to break up the trip. The outdoor shower was fun, although my son took a bit to liking it. We adjusted the water heater down from maximum hot to a lower setting so that it was not scalding hot. The jacuzzi was the perfect place to relax in the evening after a long day of exploring. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. We made breakfast every day before heading out. We did make homemade pizza one evening and the oven worked perfectly. Having a washing machine in the house helped us to pack light and be able to wash our clothes and towels as needed. Heat was efficient when needed and one day the full sun warmed the house enough that the AC unit had kicked on by itself and kept us comfortable, but that was only one unusually warm day. The hosts communicated everything we needed to know before our arrival, and everything was provided or explained, so we didnt have to bother them at all during our stay. Looking forward to returning in winter!

Peaceful surroundings with a beautiful view of the lake and sounds of birds and loons. Close drive to Reykjavík. This cottage has all the amenities one would need for a getaway. The cottage was very clean and it felt very cosy. The bedrooms were very comfortable with fluffy pillows. The outdoor shower was unique but if you don’t mind quickly running out in the cold mornings, you can actually get a decent shower with hot water. No one will see you btw.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Iceland.
You do have to give yourself time to clean up the cottage and change the linens before you leave , so if you have to catch an early flight , just be prepared to wake up earlier.
I loved this place and so did my family .
The owner can easily be reached via email if you have any questions or concerns and has a quick response .
Thank you for allowing us into your beautiful cottage.

Beautiful place to stay with walking paths in a pine forest and gorgeous lupine blooming.
Could use some hooks for hanging clothes in the bedrooms

This place is wonderful! Great location overlooking a lake with mountain skyline. A deck where we ate our breakfast each morning, and a hot tub where we spent each evening after touring. For anyone who like to stay out in the countryside but still be near the city, this is the place! It is not a hotel or a traditional house in the city. It is unconventional... we thought of it as "glamping"!
We were nervous when we read that the shower is outdoors, but it was not just OK, it was great!
You do have to do all your own cleaning of linens and towels, and you have to clean the bathroom and floors before you leave. But this saves money because they don't charge a cleaning fee, so this is better.
All around, highly recommended!

Hi... My Fiance and I stayed here the week of our wedding at Kvernufoss. The view was beautiful. The cottagw was nice and cozy. The hot tub was great. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend :)

The place is wonderful in the middle of a reserve with view on the lake. In the house you find everything for preparing a nice meal or enjoying the evening. The outside shower was surprisingly nice and warm as the hot tub which can be enjoyed even under the rain.

This place is quite magical. I didn't realize there was a view of the lake until we arrived. Guests should be aware that the only shower is outdoors. This is not a problem if you are a seasoned traveler and think nothing of showering outdoors when it's chilly. It might be a challenge if you are used to only using hotels in your travels! The bedroom space is unique in that there's space for a bed...and only a bed (well, a slight exaggeration). If you a sharing a bed, it will require climbing over your sleeping partner. The kitchen amenities were perfect. I could have stayed here for a week and never left. The only downside that I found challenging was having to completely clean the dwelling, including washing all laundry, before leaving. This was a challenge because others were waiting on us and it took some time (even though we were rarely home and did not cook except for the 1st night). If you're leaving for the airport from here, you may find this bigger challenge than it was for us. Overall, I would stay here again. The view was spectacular, accommodations comfortable, and surrounding area very relaxing. Put 'Paradise Cabin" into Google maps for easy directions. The directions listed are okay - there is no longer a route number (408) on the Heiomork sign. Find the roundabout and it's the first major road on the right from the roundabout. The sign is there (as pictured) it just doesn't have the 408. The road is paved a bit further than I expected. Great Place!

Beautiful natural setting in a watershed conservation area, dirt roads, cozy cottage, well appointed. We stayed for about a week and rented a car. You will need a car if you’d like to stay here. About 20 minutes from downtown. On Google maps type in “paradise cottage”… much easier that trying to follow the directions. Nice being able to shop and cook, as well as do laundry. Shower is outside, but nice hot water. Hot tub is great!! Walking trails accessible from the yard… lots of birds to see!!

We had a wonderful time! The hosts were amazing! It was just what we were looking for after our busy time in Germany

We stayed 5 days in March at Paradise Cottage and had a great time. The cozy house is in the middle of nature, but still not far from Reykjavik. It is only 15 min to the center. The house had everything we expected and the kitchen is fully equipped, even a Nespresso coffee machine is available.
After a day of exploring Reykjavik and the surrounding areas or the Golden Circle we enjoyed sitting on the sofa and looking out of the large windows into nature. It is really a peaceful place.
We absolutely enjoyed our time in Paradise Cottage and can highly recommend this accommodation.

What a beautiful cottage and a place to come relax after a long day out on adventures. The cottage was warm and inviting with everything you would need to snuggle in if you chose. The hosts were gracious and I look forward to coming back and staying. Thank you so much for opening your home for our stay. Cheers!

What a beautiful little hideaway, We stayed there for 5 days and on the first day it snowed really hard it was AMAZING!!! I would recommend this to all especially those who like peace and quiet this is for you, There is a nature trail right on your doorstep, The shower is located at the side of the house outside which was not as bad as i thought it would be, over all Great experience so glad i went.

My wife and I have just had a wonderful 4 nights here and would go back tomorrow if we could. The house itself is very clean and comfortable, with 2 full sized double beds, a lounge and full kitchen with everything you’d want in it. The hot tub is also exactly what you’d want - hot and spacious, just the place to sit after a busy day! I will admit the outside shower is unusual, and although we managed not to need it most of the time we were there, when I went out to use the last morning after a night at minus 15C it was frozen! Still, it’s quite an experience to shower before/after using the hot tub when it’s so cold.
The house is in the middle of a nature reserve so there are no neighbours and very little light pollution, so a walk to the end of the drive means you have the perfect opportunity to see the Northern Lights.
The hosts too are excellent, replying very quickly to anything I asked and all information I needed was provided in very good time prior to my stay.
Ultimately this was totally perfect for the 2 of us and we had a truly great time there. I would recommend it to anyone.

We had an amazing time! The house was perfect. We loved the hot tub, shower, and being surrounded by nature. We hiked and ran each day in the trail outside the house. Our hosts were amazing! They helped us with any question we had. We could not have asked for friendlier hosts or a better home. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much, Susan and Stephen

Fantastic place a stay you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but only 30 minutes from Reykjavík centre. After a day exploring back to the cottage for Rum and get into the hot tub . Then the lady of night Aurora Borealis comes out to dance in the night sky . I totally recommend this property 👌🏻

Our five night stay in Paradise Cottage was perfect! The cottage is warm and cozy, has a beautiful view of the lake below the property, and the hot tub on the deck is very nice and comfortable. The outdoor shower is unique and enhanced our travel adventures. We cooked several nice dinners in the kitchen, and we enjoyed hanging out in the living room. The cottage is on the outskirts of Reykjavík in a protected nature preserve and watershed management area. Grocery shopping is nearby and downtown Reykjavik is about a 15 minute drive from Paradise Cottage. We hope to stay in Paradise Cottage again when we return to Iceland!

My wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was as advertised. A terrific location for hiking on your down days. Close enough to Reykjavik to allow a quick trip into town for tours, groceries, or dinner but far enough outside of town that you feel totally alone if that’s your thing (it is ours) . It is the perfect location to do day trips to the majority of Icelands “must see attractions”. Iceland was , according to my 15 yo , the best vacation we have ever taken . It was about the beauty of our surroundings not the food or architecture. I would do it again in a heartbeat and Anna’s place is where I would stay on my return trip

Loved it, big time!
The house was wonderful, even the outside shower. It was perfect for my wife and I. The flowers and plants were amazing. The location is secluded but close enough to services. The Olis gas station is just right down the road and has food items, bread, cheese etc. and also have cooked meals. We LOVED it!

It is a small cottage, but the view is amazing. We were not expected, but the owners came over and made it right, they were helpful with our itinerary for the best places in Iceland. The shower is outside, because of the hot tub. We enjoyed the tub under the midnight sun and the fire place on cold evenings. Not 5 stars but comfortable and the view makes everything right.

Absolutely beautiful property in a great location. Small, cosy, and well equipped. We had a wonderful time staying here and the location was perfect for exploring Iceland. The hottub was fabulous and don't let the outdoor shower put you off staying here as it was lovely, hot and private. Overall an outstanding stay and we will definitely be returning and staying here again someday. Thank you so much :)

We’d live here if we could! We are a couple who were in Iceland for a long weekend, the cottage has everything you need for a cozy time. The hot tub and fire really made the place as well as the views of sunrise through the glass panels in the morning. The views are stunning and the shower was actually very refreshing! Will be recommending to loved ones

My husband and I stayed 4 days at this place and loved it! It's clean and cozy. I got some beautiful sunrise pictures. The place is very small. I would recommend to owners to taking out one of the chairs, this would make the place look roomier. Loved the hot tub. Was not looking forward to outside shower but it was fine! Owners were fast to reply with answers to questions. They even let us check in early since no one had stayed the night before! Beautiful views of Lake.
