Location is great. Even though area is dense, property provides a great deal of privacy. House has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very quiet neighborhood.
We would return there again.

Beautiful beaches nearby and just a stroll away. The Laguna Trolley is a fantastic plus. We enjoyed every minute.

This was a great home to stay at for our family at four. We had everything we needed in regards to cooking and beach supplies. The host was extremely communicative. Our kids loved using the boogie boards, and my husband loved having the umbrella to relax in the shade when needed. The driveway is definitely steep, and we were a little nervous to go down it all the way, so we pretty much stayed halfway at the top and halfway to the side of the street for parking. The gardens are so beautiful! It was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The walk to thousand steps beach is not too bad. Very challenging though coming back up. You definitely don’t want to bring too much stuff you have to carry on the way back.

We have visited Laguna Beach several times and stayed in resorts, condos and this charming beach cottage. This has been the best so far. Great garden to relax in, sunsets from the porch, ocean views, very comfortable beds and nicely equipped kitchen. Walk to Thousand Steps, Table Rock and West St beaches!

We enjoyed how unique and quaint the cottage and garden are and how close the property is to one of the most beautiful beaches in Laguna.
It isn’t luxurious, but definitely magical in its own way. We were pleased with our stay overall.

This is a nice property and the listing is accurate. I was not surprised or taken aback by anything after arriving. If you want to stay near the beach in Laguna this is a great spot.

Great little house to have as a landing place for our trip. Beautiful property & smells like flowers! Property owners were great & communicated quickly with any questions.

Beautiful property, beautiful cottage. Excellent location if you want to get some exercise, park the car and walk or trolley everywhere. Close enough to downtown so you can enjoy the shops and restaurants, yet far enough away from the crowds and traffic to enjoy the serenity.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage, which is furnished to meet every need. With its stunning view of the ocean and its convenient location near Pacific Coast Highway, Laguna Beach and Dana Point, it is definitely one of best vacation places we've ever found!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in this home last year and returned to spend more time in the Laguna Beach area this year. We loved it even more this time around! The home is clean, quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped for cooking and grilling. The gardens are peaceful and beautiful. And the location can’t be beat - we were able to walk to several local beaches and hike from the house to Aliso Peak, and thanks to the Laguna Beach trolley, we didn’t need to use our rental car except for longer excursions (Dana Point Harbor and Crystal Cove State Park). Great communication from a helpful host. Having amenities like laundry on-site and beach towels/gear provided was really helpful. Highly recommend!

Very special cozy cottage. Clean and everything you need for a vacation getaway. Beautiful beach at the bottom of the hill - climbing back from 1000 steps beach to the top of the hill is a fun challenge.

Excellent location and host. My daughter and I greatly enjoyed our stay.

Basically ok, but the host rarely replied to my messages.
I had to message him three times about a door handle that could lock us out of the bedroom. Other messages were also unanswered. Both thru VRBO and text.
He did not bother to give me a rating.
Structure in need of a painting inside and out.

This is the quintessential Laguna beach cottage. We had an amazing three nights here living the dream. Just a short walk to Thousand Steps beach which we visited each day. Also loved spending time in the back garden that felt like an extension of the house. Private with loads of charm, character, and beautiful views. Communication with the host was excellent. We’ll be back!

This is a gem of a property! Located at the top of a hill, this historic cottage was perfect for my wife and I. The area is heavily residential, but you almost wouldn’t know it because of the steep landscapes and the abundant foliage. Despite the trees and bushes, the cottage has a view of the ocean from it’s kitchen deck!
The bed was comfortable, there was ample space in the living room areas, and the kitchen was nicely outfitted.
I am amazed what a nice job the owners have done in modernizing the amenities while keeping the charm of an old cottage. To us, it was a perfect balance!
We can’t wait to return and hope we will be able to book it again!!

Best VRBO we have stayed in, yet. Gary did an amazing job with this house. We especially liked spending time in the gorgeous garden patio area. The house was equipped with everything we could possibly need.

The property is quiet and located in walking distance to the beach. We especially enjoy the small porch off the kitchen. It has the best view of the ocean and we watched sunsets from there. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. This is a great place if you want a peaceful getaway near the beach.

The property is very nice and Gary was very responsive. I definitely suggest taking the trolley as parking is difficult downtown. It's a short walk to the closest station.
If you are arriving late in the evening, request that the fans are on and the windows opened, so the cool evening air cools the house. That was a very minor inconvenience, however, when we arrived late the first night and did not know there was no air conditioning (which really is not needed, you just need to keep the fans on and the windows opened by early evening.)
The washer and dryer are nice and the beach chairs and umbrella are a plus.

We had a wonderful time in Laguna! The cottage was perfect for me and my friend. The view is amazing, lovely garden, outdoor shower, great neighborhood & location, quick response, and the fans were much appreciated! It was a great week away :-) Can't wait to go back :-)
Thank you! !!!

I would definitely rent again! We were here for the art festival and pageant so the proximity to the trolleys was a definite plus. We spent more time outside than in and loved the inviting patios.

I have stayed here before and I just love the neighborhood. Friendly neighbors, easy access to several beaches, trolley is just blocks away and I love having laundry onsite.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Gary's house. He was helpful from the beginning. The ocean is close and the house had all the necessary amenities.

My husband and I as well as our three adult children stayed at the cottage in South Laguna Beach. It was exactly as we had hoped in every way. It was perfectly sized especially given the extra space that the beautiful garden and balconies allow for enjoying peaceful morning coffee, relaxing in the shade, taking in the sun, or watching the sun set. It was perfectly located for walking access to Thousand Steps Beach and short driving access to hiking trails. The location also splits the driving distance between LA and San Diego. While we rented a car for the week and relied on that as primary transportation, we accessed the trolley system one day to/through Laguna and points south to Dana Point and San Clemente easily. I would highly recommend a stay at this cottage. It is a relaxing oasis in and of itself and provides a perfect retreat after a busy day of beach time and sight-seeing.

I’m an author (The Aquamarine Surfboard, 2022). Though I had family visit briefly, most of the time I was happily writing in the cottage,,the garden, or the sweet patio with the perfect keyhole view.
I loved my “stretch breaks”, the hikes down the hill and stairs to stunning Thousand Steps Beach. My first (and second) books are inspired by Laguna… and the magic I find in writing by the sea!

My wife and I spent a week relaxing at Gary & Nadia's South Laguna Beach cottage. This was our first getaway vacation since the pandemic, and we could not have been happier with our choice. The cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood and has stunning ocean views.
The kitchen is equipped with just about everything you would need to prepare your own meals, although we limited our kitchen use to breakfasts and takeout lunches so that we could sample the local restaurants in the evenings. When the weather is nice there is a table for two with an ocean view on the small deck just outside the kitchen. Our only complaint: Most of the nonstick cookware is pretty scratched up and in need of being replaced.
The living room has comfortable furniture and an entertainment center with cable TV and a DVD player with a nice selection of movies. For music, there are cable channels as well as Pandora.
A sliding door in the large bedroom leads to another deck with an ocean view.
The garden area is meticulously maintained with tables, chairs, and plenty of shade. There is even an outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand.
The bathroom is small but adequate, with a small sink/vanity and a tub/shower. The mirror above the sink is actually a medicine cabinet with shelves for stashing personal items.
A washer and dryer are located in the garage. There is a little bit of rust on the washer, but it is easy to avoid. Laundry soap, softener, and bleach are all provided.
