Not luxury but nice place. Feels like you live in Italy. Very small bathroom. Lots of steps to property but that’s Vernazza. Nice place if your expectations aren’t really high.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location in excellent and only a 2 minute walk from the beach. Host was great.

Stefania was amazing and attentive to our needs, we had a minor issue with TV and fixed immediately. Place is ideal but the stairs are quite the jaunt but worth it! We have do many nice people to help if needed, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you Stefania!

Pros: Very good communication with Stefania who addressed a few issues the day after we arrived.
Cozy apartment for two with good proximity to town.
Cons: Sewer smell coming from the bathroom that Stephania tried to address but still lingered. Sewer issues?
Broken shower head that she said will be replaced.
65 steps to the flat, not a problem for us but could be an issue for others.

Very cozy property. Perfect for accessing the train, trails, and seashore.

Perfect spot for me traveling solo and wanting to hike between towns and explore the Cinque Terre! Stefania was excellent at communication and very responsive when there was an unfortunate leak in the ceiling. There are a lot of steps to climb to get here, so if you have bad knees, this is not the place for you! It is comfortable for 1-2 people but would be pretty tight with 2 more on the pullout, unless maybe they are children. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a homebase for exploring the Cinque Terre.

Nicely decorated, cozy apartment
There are stairs to climb to get there but we knew that in advance
Great access to the rest of cinque Terre
Kitchen was not great if you want to do much cooking

You couldn’t ask for a better location. It was an easy walk from the train station & in the heart of Vernazza. Yes, it was several steep steps to get there but you come to Cinque Terra for the hiking trails so pack light & enjoy! Our recommendation to the owner would be to have better lighting at the entry way. We arrived after dark & it would have been helpful to have additional lighting. The key require multiple rotations (similar to screwing or unscrewing a cap) in order to gain access. Once you enter the outside door, the “Rock House” is the door straight ahead at that same level, you do not go up the stairs on the left.

Excellent spot to stay while in Vernazza. Need to be able walk up steps with luggage.

This was a good little find - tucked away from the busy centre of Vernazza but incredibly close. My husband and I loved how quiet it was yet a few steps away was the Main Street. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely spot!! Very comfortable, lots of pillows and towels.
Great water pressure (for the 2-3 showers a day you will need in the summer) Easy check in.
I choose this place again!

The property is close to the Main Street but far enough away to not here the daily traveler noise. The room was comfortable and would recommend it to anyone.

We enjoyed our stay at this property! The owner was very helpful, gave great directions about the property, and was very nice! Answered any emails/questions we had quickly and thoroughly. Just the right size and location for the 2 of us! Will definitely stay again!

Love Vernazza! The Rock House is just a couple stair climbs from the centre. Away from the train- so is quiet. :-D
Nice decor. We had to go out to purchase our own shampoo though- we left it for the next guest. :-)
House is on the trail through town Monterosso to Corniglia- which is fun.

We stayed for 5 nights and we were very comfortable. The place is truly unique and a short hike to a wonderful restaurant with a great view

Place was well located close to train station and the hike to Corgnilia. We came in March so a bit cold, the room was cold and the system available took a while to warm up the room. We had everything we needed in the room.

The apartment is just as described. The number of steps to the apartment is very manageable with luggage and much better than most other options. The major hiking trail goes right up the steps by the apartment, and restaurants and town center right down the steps. The bathroom was small and functional and the bed comfortable with a small kitchenette. The only problem was that it was difficult to communicate with the host and she was not real responsive. This became a major issue when our key broke in the lock and we were locked out of the apartment at night without other lodging options. We luckily (and by total luck) found an elderly relative who happened to be related to the owner, who was very pleasant and brought us a key to save us from sleeping on a street bench. Apparently this has happened before and a spare key is stored at a restaurant in town that was closed on the night in question? None of this information was available to us. So, all in all, a nice apartment for 2 people in a great location, but host needs to be more accessible to communicate and to address issues. Further, a more substantial key needs to be provided to operate the deadbolt without breaking and leaving guests stranded without alternatives. In fairness, much of this issue results from VRBO making it difficult for hosts and guests to communicate directly.

Steps from town center
We enjoyed our stay at The Rock House in Vernazza! The house was as advertised and communication from landlord Stephanie was excellent. We really enjoyed being on the path from Vernazza to Corniglia, and the last day, after completing our walk, sat outside to encourage the hikers that they only had a few steps left to finish!
We found the bed very comfortable and the bathroom serviceable. There were facilities to help us make our morning coffee. As a couple, we were very comfortable in the space. We had no issues with internet.
We only had backpacks. I think it would be difficult to access this space with large suitcases. There are steps equal to about two or three floors, and you wind through a narrow passage. It’s fun to stay in such historic surroundings, but anyone with big mobility issues should probably avoid. For reference, I'm in my 60s and have had a knee replacement but managed fine. Great location in a lovely town , especially once all the daytrippers leave at 6.

Perfect spot for a weekend in Cinque Terre
I spent a very nice weekend in Vernazza with my wife in this truly stunning flat. Everything is built around a rock upon which the house was built and which emphasizes the whole environment. This charming flat has been furnished with some customized pieces and the night area is separated from the rest of the flat with a raised platform. The house is very clean. The bed is very comfortable. The outside temperature was quite cool so we turned on the heating which in just a few minutes warmed up the room. The flat is located in a convenient position, just a few minutes away from the train station and from the main square with its vibrant life. You need to walk a few steps to reach it…then if you have to go anywhere in Vernazza you have to walk up steps. Wi FI is OK and the signal is stronger by the window. I had to connect to work on a few occasions as there was an emergency in the office. We were lucky enough to meet Stefania, the owner and we were happy we did. She is a communicative, kind person and goes out of her way to help her guests (she suggested excellent restaurants and places to visit). We have visited all the 5 villages and we can say without any doubt that Vernazza is the most beautiful and charming village. We were very happy about our choice. We deeply recommend Stefania’s house as it is very nice, well kept and the price is very competitive in comparison with other houses which are less authentic and cozy.

Better Than Camping!
Much has been done to make this cave a home. Bravo.
The initial challenge is that it is located on top of steep uneven stairs. With heavy suitcases, it’s a long, difficult haul up 54 steep steps, 100 feet high.
We practically choked on chemicals used to treat the room. Our eyes watered. I started wheezing. We had to open the windows and doors to clear out the awful smell.
In the process, the cold room became freezing cold, in the high 30s F. No heat. We tried to reach the owners but the WI-FI didn’t work. I called them long distance on my phone, and after their children were in bed they called back and sent out two people to fix the problems.
Unfortunately, the property does not have heat. They brought an old plug in heater that overnight raised the temperature about 10 degrees. By the third night it was comfortably chilly.
The written code for the WI-FI was wrong. It worked briefly after the service call, but then it stopped again, even when we held our phones up by the kitchen window as suggested. Our own 2G cell service worked very slowly.
Pluses for this property: a small fridge, a toilet, a microwave, an electric teapot, a hot shower, good water pressure and a comfortable bed. It’s much more comfortable than camping.
Other issues: a secondary front door that should never be locked, few electrical outlets, a small leak in the ceiling over the bed, written instructions to place trash outside but no place to put it and micro-thin bag liners.

Quirky little stay!
Gorgeous little apartment tucked away of the Main Street in Vernazza. Slept 3 of us comfortably, very clean with a good size fridge and tea/ coffees/snack facilities. Perfect for our stay in this beautiful part of the world. Was very quiet and heard no train noise at all.

Lovely home base in Vernazza
Stefania is a responsive and courteous host. Her apartment is clean and has just the right amount of amenities for our 4-night stay. It was wonderful to hike and explore the Cinque Terre villages by day and take a refreshing swim at the beach each evening. Stefania - thank you for being part of our great vacation!

Perfect location!
This charming apartment was just the right size for two people, had all of the amenities advertised, and was in a great location. It was just off of the main street and had easy access to the trains, the beach, and the trails. Stefania was a great communicator and made the check in/out process super easy. I would stay here again!

Beautiful apartment
The apartment was beautiful and in a quiet little alley. It's up a few flights of stairs but relatively easy to get to. Close to the water and some great food. And just a short walk from the train station. Would definitely stay here again, it was perfect for us.

Nice place
The apartment was nice and bright and clean, but the lack of internet service was very frustrating, as it only worked maybe 5% of the time of our three day stay. Also, if you come with heavy luggage, the 50+ (?) steps up to the apartment is not enjoyable.

Enjoyed our stay at The Rock House
We had a nice stay during our brief visit to Cinque Terre. My only critiques are wishing the hot shower water lasted longer and the WiFi was slow each night. Otherwise, good location and accommodation. Not disappointed we chose to stay here.

Cinque Terra is amazing
However there was no shuttle to be found . We drove so you must park about 1.5miles above the town. Lighten your load , you have to hike it all back up a fairly steep canyon road only for residents who have access thru a gate . So we hoofed it all the way back up to our car at 7am in the dark and in the rain ... Monterosso had many more restaurants open especially on New Years Eve, but we were lucky to find one that had at least one table not reserved . Delicious , but we worried about catching a train back to Vernazza . It was a memorable Buone Ano Nuevo evening . Cute little place too . But I would have picked Monterosso now that we checked out all except Corniglia.

Wonderful place to stay in Vernazza!
This was the perfect place for us. It was clean and artsy and nicely tucked away off the street so it was very quiet! The bed was extremely comfortable which was nice. The wi-fi is very spotty so I wouldn't rely on it for coverage. We would definitely come here again!!

Nice liitle apartment in an AWESOME little town
My husband and I stayed at this property for 4 nights in May 2017. We loved Vernazza. It is an awesome town (as are all of the 5). This property it understandably small; however, we didn't spend much time there given all of the hiking and sites so it really didn't matter. The property was clean. Access to it is a bit difficult with large, heavy luggage. That, however, is probably true with most properties in the Cinque Terre.
The downside to the property is the size of the bathroom. It is quite small especially for larger individuals. It also doesn't have any outdoor space or windows with a view. Since we didn't spend much time there, it really wasn't an issue for us.
Overall, I was pleased with the property and would stay there again.
The property manager was wonderful! Stefania was very quick to respond with all questions or concerns.

We absolutely loved this place!!
This was a very unique and beautiful room! We did not spend much time in our room while visiting the Cinque Terre, nor did we plan on doing any cooking, so this was the perfect place for us. As with many rooms in the area, hot water box many not last thru two showers, so use it wisely :-) Stephania was very responsive prior to our arrival, answering all of our questions about the area; even trying to set us up with a hair dresser from La Spezia. She was waiting for us when we arrived as planned, helped carry our luggage up to the room, there are many flights of steps to this room!

Loved it. Such character. Very clean and comfortable.
Stephania was so nice and lovely. Was waiting for us to arrive and walked us to the apartment. Perfect location to everything. Would highly recommend.
