Very comfortable and well-appointed cottage in a beautiful setting, felt like being in the jungle.
Excellent location for the National Park and also easy to access the main road for Hilo and around the island.
Wonderful views of the stars at night from the garden and even a glimpse of the mountain top from the gate.

Great location, checkin and checkout time was ideal, good size, no. of beds available, clean, well
stocked kitchen, visitor book which offered valuable formation to us from other visitors.
A little expensive, toaster was a bit old and needs replacing.

Great location for visiting Hilo and Volcano National Park. Rainforest setting felt very private. Nice books about the island for planning are available. Cards and board games very appreciated.
Suggest making a book providing basics on the stay - check out time and policies; maintenance such as should we keep emptying the dehumidifier tank?; and local tips/recommendations. Also, this booking site does not note that the washer/dryer is only available if staying 3+ nights so that was a big surprise to us upon arrival - recommend adding this info if you can so families with kids can plan ahead. Confirmation with access info on the morning of arrival would provide peace of mind for long distance travelers.

Beautiful cottage and spectacular rainforest garden yard. Very comfy beds and sheets. Nice living area, kitchen, and bath.
Bath linens could use replacement/updating and more to supply 4 people (cottage sleeps 4); directions to home and address need clarifying. Host is very responsive and these are in process of getting done we think.

This cosy cottage ensured we had a wonderful stay in Volcano Village. It provided everything we needed and was a warm and welcoming base. We loved our time here and can’t recommend it enough!
Nothing - but FYI the kitchen sink plug is broken and the tap leaks. Very minor things that weren’t problems for us.

It was a little difficult to figure out how to use the thermostat and the fireplace.

Great location for exploring the Volcano National Park. Very responsive host.
Fairly basic kitchen utensils. OK for a few days but would want more for a longer stay.

Bed was a little damp although room did have a dehumidifier that could be used.

The location is very close to Volcano NP.
There're several things I'm very disappointed. First, I reached out to the property a few days before arrival asking when we'll get the door code, and if it's easy to find food to eat near by. We didn't get any response. I emailed again a couple of days before arrival and still didn't get replied. I called the day before arrival to make sure we'll receive the door code when we're there. Finally the property manager answered the call and told me the code will be sent on our arrival day. I made sure she'll send early in the morning since we'll lose signal later in the day close to Volcano NP. Second, when we arrived the property, the room smells like mode. I opened all the windows to let the air flow a bit. The WORSE thing of this property is the water!!! The water flow is so not stable. It became very tiny flow quite often and not warm enough quite often. It's a disaster when we had showers especially with babies. There're also dust everywhere in this property. Lots of messy stuff in the closet. Can't believe it's rent like that. Third, the last surprise is, the day after we left, I received an email from the property asking for extra $30 cleaning fee without any reason. We tried our best to make the stuff back to place and washed the dishes by hand as much as possible before we left. I don't know what do they expect. I declined the request to pay extra cleaning fee. Gosh what an experience. BTW, the stores in this small town closes too early. If you're traveling and want to have a good breakfast and dinner, please make sure to drive extra miles to Hilo. We'll never stay in this area anymore.

The location of the property is close to VNP. We could be there early and do several hikes before the crowds arrived.
House is renovated, has very nice touches, very secluded and surrounded by tropical ferns and palms.
Rooms feel cosy.
The weather in April is unpredictable. It was raining in the afternoons and during the night and the place felt humid.
We also did not like the bedding. It is nice looking but synthetic and we all were sweating.
There are no good knives or frying pans.
