About this house rental
The Saltwater Cottage at Gleneden Beach is a truly special beach house you will remember forever. Located on Salal Place, you are midway down a dead end street so you can enjoy the quiet and comfort during your stay. The decor is a perfect blend of relaxing beach vibes with exceptional comfort and quality. A brand new sectional couch was just installed August of 2019.
The open floor layout downstairs is great for keeping everyone together and making memories during your stay. On the lower level, there is a full bath with a Jacuzzi tub for your enjoyment. There is also a half bath with a washer and dryer. There is ample seating and a large flat screen TV with some local chanels and streaming options. Please note that all of the bathrooms are on the main level. Whether you are coming back from the beach and need a rinse or want to enjoy a shower in the salt air, there is a private outdoor shower area behind the house.
Upstairs you will find a nice, bright, master bedroom with ample space and a comfortable queen bed. The second bedroom has a twin trundle bed that can be pulled out for the second twin, as needed. There is plenty of extra bedding and blankets available. Back downstairs, there is a Murphy queen bed stored behind the dining room table if you need even more room for guests to sleep.
Just outside, there is a nice large fire pit with seating. There are also reclining deck chairs to relax in while listening to the nearby Pacific Ocean. If you start walking left on Salal Place as you are facing away from the house, you will find a path on your right that leads down toward the beach. It is only a quick 2-3 minute walk to the sand and waves.
While relaxing at the cottage is always a welcomed option, you may also consider taking a short stroll to the award-winning Side Door Café for a memorable meal or enjoy the café-by-day / wine-bar-by-night options at The Red Roof. For extra pampering, a 3-minute drive will find you at the Salishan Spa and Golf resort while a few more minutes will get you to the charming beach town of Depoe Bay, known as the “whale watching capital of the Oregon Coast.”

We have relationships with all of our neighbors who have our direct contact information. Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring pools or spas, or on the interior of the house.

Property isn’t as nice as what you would think from the photos on the listing. The outside deck and siding are weathered and the trees, bushes are overgrown. It was a little hard to find as we arrived after 9pm. Leaving an outside light on would have helped. Inside, it was clean, cozy and reasonably lit. The kitchen was stocked with almost everything you would need with the exception of ice. A couple of ice trays would be nice. The fridge was spotless. The whole place was nicely furnished. The beds were comfortable with plenty of covers for cool nights. Our weather turned out on the cool side so we appreciated that. All that said, the coffee maker didn’t work nor did the fireplace. I contacted the property manager by email and text message and while he got back with me with advice for the remote for the fireplace, it was exactly what I had already done. He made no comment about the coffee maker. I sent messages early in the day but it wasn’t until midday that he replied that he would send a team our way.
No one ever showed. He never called back to find out how it went. We were only there 3 nights and 2 days so I wasn’t going to spend my time hounding him for help. Also, maybe it’s a clean crew issue or not but when I grabbed one of the 2 rolls of tissue paper off the toilet tank to replace the emptied one, the bottom of it was damp and had dark (mildew) marks on the bottom. The other one was the same way. I found a clean one in the smaller bathroom.

This little house is perfectly set up for a family of four. We didn’t cook in the kitchen but it seemed nicely stocked. All the upstairs beds were comfortable, bedding was nice and seemed new. The proximity to the beach is perfect and the outdoor shower was so useful for cleaning off the sand. Both bathrooms were nice and clean and functional. The optional additional bed is a Murphy style bed in the dining room. We didn’t use it so we can’t speak to the comfort of it, but the upstairs beds are very nice. We would definitely stay here again!

This place was perfect, quick neach access, lots of room to hang out with family whole also taking a moment by yourself. We loved the jaccuzi tub and that there was laundry soap for multiple l9ads of laundry. My pnly suggestion would be to have a small bottle of oil for cooking there. But if you know then you can prepare. Love it!

The front deck could use a cleaning and the back deck had a hole in it. The inside was very clean and had all the necessary kitchen items needed for a weekend stay. Need mats in the big bathroom. The outdoor fire pit was a perfect way to end the day.

We arrived to a very clean and well maintained cottage. It had a few quirks, like using the microwave when the light in the dinning area was on would switch the breaker off, and you had to let the water run for a couple of minutes before the hot water would make it to the sink faucets in the bathrooms and in the kitchen. Our only real disappointment with the property was that the morning of our check-in, we were notified that repairs to the fireplace could not be completed before our arrival, so we would not be able to use it during our stay. Other than that, the neighborhood was very quiet, and the location was just a five minute drive to Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site, and access to a stretch of beautiful coastline!

We enjoyed our stay here although the house it not as nice as it appeared in the listing. The location is great but the house lacks central heat. Bedrooms and bath have cadet heaters but downstairs is heated with gas fireplace that is inefficient. Probably wouldn’t be an issue in warmer weather. Although one bath is quite large, it has a pedestal sink with no room for any toiletries. Shower is small, which is fine, but you cannot get in it without being doused with cold water based on the configuration. House is moderately well stocked. Beds are comfortable.

3 women in early 40s relaxing getaway. We really enjoyed the house and I could see booking this one again! Loved the proximity to the beach and walkable to the cafe.
just a few quick mentions: the pillowcases that were in the basket for the murphy bed either hadn't been laundered or were stained (makeup and some yellow coloring). So I found some fresh linens upstairs to put new pillowcases on. And the soap dispenser in the large bathroom wasn't working. We also had a really hard time getting the fireplace to turn on and on the second evening the pilot light went out so we had to re-light it.

The house was fine and certainly met everything that was stated. Did not read the fine print about pets can't stay in the home alone even in crates. I suggest this not be a pet friendly home. Very stormy and lost power. No central heading and, unfortunately, the fireplace was not working which we did not know until we arrived. Lost power for several hours and was pretty cool. It was ok.

The saltwater cottage was an ideal stay for our family of four. It’s two blocks away from a lovely, quiet beach. The cottage was spotless, well equipped with everything you would need, and very comfortable. I appreciated the digital handbook which provided all the information we needed and management was a text away if we needed anything and always responded in a timely manner. Would highly recommend the Saltwater cottage!

We thought the little cottage was adorable! It was a peaceful place to stay to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. We took walks to the beach, which was about two blocks away, and opened up the windows of the bedroom to hear the ocean as we slept.

A cute cottage in a nice, quiet neighborhood. A charming walking path to the beach two blocks away. Our kids loved the boat bed and treasure chest filled with games! A great base for our explorations on the Oregon coast!

Saltwater Cottage is located in a woodsy setting within a small, quiet beach neighborhood. The cottage is CLEAN, bright and every appliance is in excellent working order. The fireplace made our weekend stay extra cozy. And the jacuzzi in the bathroom suite was absolute luxury!
The beds were soft and comfortable; we woke up well-rested. Thank you for hosting us with such delightful hospitality. Our experience was 5 star! We will vacation with you again!

We loved our weekend getaway to the Saltwater Cottage! It was an excellent home base as we explored up and down the coast. The cottage was so cozy (loved sitting by the fireplace at the end of a day of adventuring!) and had everything we needed. The cottage felt like a secluded cabin in the woods, yet was such a shot walk to the beach. The peace and quiet was exactly what we needed.

This property at Gleneden Beach was wonderful. Exceptionally clean (I am very picky) and exactly as advertised. Short walk to a lovely beach, cute neighborhood, wonderful restaurant (Side Door Cafe) within walking distance. We had a fantastic long Thanksgiving weekend relaxing by the fire, going on long walks on the beach, and playing games as a family. Oh the beds are very comfortable too, we all slept amazing! Highly recommend and we will surely return.

We had a great time in this very well stocked home! The house was exceptionally clean and in a really great spot. It was only a short walk to the beach and in a very cute little neighborhood. The property managers were quick with a reply and were always there to help if needed.

I have a little girl who has been chronically ill we spent a run in the hospital when we got out she was so bored so i thought a trip to the beach sounded great .. sadly the first night she got Ill again and needed to go back to go home to the hospital. They refused to help me with any of my trip back or even giving us credit to come back when she was better .. I payed the whole week but stayed 1 night awful customer service so let down how unkind this company was choose a different company . There was also no cleaning products and a ring around the bathtub
