On arrival we were advised that the dishwasher wasn’t working and a new one would be installed on Tuesday. On Tuesday the new dishwasher was installed along with the kitchen flooded, holes made in the hall wall and debris and what looked like mud trailed all the way up the staircase (the kitchen is on the 1st floor). This was reported to the management company along with other disappointments related to the property. The property was tired - the fridge freezer was definitely on its last legs and propped up with door jams. The freezer in dire need of a defrost. One of the key reasons for choosing this property was that it had 3 bath/shower rooms. Unfortunately the shower over the 2nd floor bathroom was unusable and it was not possible to stand in the bathroom on the 1st floor and there was no shower curtain. The house is beautiful and tired which is fine but the basics like bathrooms etc should be usable. When reporting the flood, damage to the property and the unacceptable mess to the management company I was asked if I wanted the problems rectified. I said I would but there was no further contact.

Overall we had a lovely time. However, there were frequent texts from Suffolk Secrets with a list of "dos" and "don'ts" which was fine. Most to tell us about all the extra cleaning that had been done. I was surprised when we arrived at the house. It obviously needs some "attention" by the owners. The bedding and towels were clean and in good order. However, the drain in the downstairs shower was disgusting. The water did not escape quickly which was why I noticed and was worried about it flooding. I cleaned the drain as best as I could but it still needs some attention. The same goes with the loo brush. Need I say more! We did have a lovely stay and we would use you again but Suffolk Secrets need to speak truth about the cleaning rather than just spout government guidelines.

Beautiful, quirky house, loads of character. Plenty big enough for the 8 of us - and lovely to find a house with no bunk beds (8 adults staying)! Fantastic location, definitely recommend and we’ll be back 😁
