Below you will find details about our 2 bed/ 2 bath home, Gail's Mission Beach Getaway, located in Mission Beach.
Yes, you can have it all! Enter Gail's and be transported to your San Diego beach getaway. Wake up to the smells from the bakery below, Olive Bakery and the sounds of the sea. Conveniently located right between the Pacific Ocean and beautiful Sail Bay, just a block to either one and about a half mile North of historic Belmont Park with amusement and entertainment!
The light and airy living room has high ceilings and skylight, tastefully and comfortably furnished with new Pergo-style wood floors.The California-style kitchen is open to the living room and has tile countertops and natural wood cabinets. The first bedroom has a top of the line queen bed and flat screen TV. Upstairs is a large, semi-enclosed loft area with a queen bed, sitting space, and a door to a small balcony. Upstairs you will also find a cozy nook with a trundle bed (two singles). Ceiling height in the trundle bed area is about 5 feet so it's best for kids. There are two bathrooms in the home, a full bath/shower downstairs and a walk-in shower upstairs.
We can provide an air conditioning unit for an additional fee. Please contact us to reserve the inventory.
No need to search for parking by the beach as this unit comes with it's own garage! Please see parking restrictions below. Extra large vehicles won't fit but there is free overnight parking a few blocks away. There is also a coin operated laundry room near the garage for your convenience. Everything you need is here to enjoy your vacation!
This location is hard to beat! It's close to all the main attractions: SeaWorld, the world famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Old Town with it's excellent restaurants, Belmont Park and it's authentic 1920's wooden roller-coaster, Seaport Village, downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the Convention Center and Petco Park. Come and enjoy all that San Diego has to offer including our unbeatable weather!

We like our guests to feel at home as soon as they arrive! We provide a 'starter kit' to help our guests get settled without needing to rush off to the store. We can provide a portable a/c for an additional fee, contingent on availability. Please contact us to reserve one in our limited inventory as soon as possible. Deliveries are scheduled 24 hours in advance.
Our kits include: paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner, soap, linens, towels, kitchen sponges, dish soap, laundry detergent and fabric softener, dishwasher soap when applicable, trash bags, either Keurig coffee makers with k-cups or standard coffee makers, extra blankets, sometimes extra pillows, extra sheets-for sleeper sofas, hair dryers, ironing boards, kitchens fully stocked-enough for max occupancy with some extra settings, toasters, some waffle makers, blenders, tool kits, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, co2/fire detectors, and most homes have heat available.

Last Minute Booking Policy:
If a guest books with us directly or on any OTA such as Airbnb and VRBO, within 72 hours of arrival, verification credentials are required. By making a payment on the reservation, the guest agrees to comply with our last minute booking policy.
To properly vet a guest with such short notice requires the following; a “selfie” photo specifically of the booking guest's face and holding either a Driver's License, Passport or State ID photo under their chin. We are just looking for a name to match and the photo on the ID to match that of the person in the selfie. This can be sent by email or text to our company email address. Additionally, we need to confirm guest details such as, payment, contact information, applicable check-in time, number of guests and ages, any pets, etc.
This process is required, and if a guest refuses to comply then the reservation will be canceled. We have found this procedure to be successful in avoiding fraud, and protecting all parties! We appreciate your cooperation and we are available to help with any questions.

Parking is a big issue, but it seems that way all over Mission Beach. Multiple trash cans in the way which had to be moved before eeeking out of the space.
Lots of flies at the entrance gate. The downstairs plumbig was ok but needed a good bleaching. Everything is old but it worked and was clean.we rented an ac unit for close to 200.00
It did not cool as well as I wanted it to
The downstairs bedroom was hot. 75 degrees that day and still hot.The lighting good be brightened up a bit. Dirty fans but came in useful.
Comfortable beds was a plus. Need more ice trays

The condo was feet from the beach with a direct view from the balcony of ocean. We enjoyed the bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas left for our use. My only complaint would be that there is no air conditioning and leaving all the windows open overnight worked but all the noise of the trash trucks, delivery trucks, and the bakery moving their outdoor seating early in the morning made it diffucult to sleep in 😎

My family was in town for a week. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more! The house was perfect for us. The proximity to the beach and access to beach toys made our stay so simple.
The added bonus of Olives Bakery and their amazing cinnamon rolls and coffee being just below also didn’t hurt❤️
The weekend did get a bit loud in the neighborhood and adjacent establishments, but that was expected.
We are already talking about our next vacation.
We will definitely book this place again in the future.

Location was amazing, the unit has been rode hard. Needs a great deal of attention to: kitchen/bathroom cabinets, furniture in living/dining room, balcony furniture, carpet is worn/dirty, no dresser upstairs for 4 people-arranging suitcases on floor was a challenge, access to upstairs balcony blocked by large chair
Pros: location, comfortable beds (except sofa bed), Olive Bakery, walk to bay, restaurants, wetsuit rentals, convenient to San Diego/coronado island. Great beach chairs/boogie boards for our use
Cons: kitchen utensils (requested pancake turner/spatula and pizza cutter, lack of bath towels/handtowels/washcloths, no entry rugs (lots of rain-floor was slippery and one child fell hard), sunken bathtub has heavy shower doors, making bathing little ones a challenge, laundry on other side of building on ground floor (only one washer and dryer, shared with all residents and bakery). Dryer broke while we were there-wouldn’t return our money. Laundry basket provided has broken handle so it’s dicey carrying down flight of stairs to other side of building,
Parking is noted in listing but is worse than we imagined. We never could park in garage or side space (too tight) and had to park a quarter mile away.
The freezer never worked the entire time we were there, causing more frequent trips to store. (We cook a lot on vacation). Mgt worked with us but it was never resolved.
We’ve used Vrbo for a decade and this was the roughest unit by far.

The location is great but the property is fairly run down. Broken silverware draw, really dirty windows plus the refrigerator quit working. The garage door was not accessible for hours without many parking options. This was no electricity to the unit as maybe a bill was not paid.
Then what kitchen doesn’t have a spatula.
Ceiling fan in the downstairs bathroom sounds like a small screaming aircraft trying to takeoff.
So for over 300/night I would only recommend this to college guys.
One more thing is it’s above a bakery and the whole floor shakes due to commercial fans and equipment

Stayed here with a longtime college friend for a girls week getaway. Absolutely loved the proximity to the beach!!! All locks are number coded: garage, gate, and front door. Garage space, as specified, is EXTREMELY small; had more difficulty parking when other vehicle was full-sized SUV/crossover. Entering/exiting garage a challenge bc of refuse bins in alley. Condo space was plenty for two adults. Nice kitchen area. Kept windows open daily for breeze. Condo is above Olive Baking Company. The aroma of cinnamon rolls and other treats wafts into the condo :) Fare is wonderful and people are sweet. Miss B's Coconut Club is right across the street. Good food there as well.

When they say “only steps” to the beach- they mean it. My kids didn’t even put on shoes to walk out to the ocean.
The location on Mission Beach is absolute perfection. It is in the quieter, low key part of Mission Beach. A bit to the North is party, night life zone. And South is the amusement park. This is the sweet spot. We parked our car and walked, or rode the supplied bikes- I can’t say enough about the location. Listening to the waves while falling asleep was the best! Several fun, beachy places to eat within a 3 min walk. The pastries downstairs were the perfect start to a vacation morning. It was so nice to not worry about driving, and parking. The location is literal perfection. Plus it was only an 8 min drive to SeaWorld.
The property was very clean. Beds were comfortable. The ocean breeze kept the temperature just right. Very comfortable place to stay. A clean, well-stocked kitchen.
The property management reached out to make sure we had all we needed, and when checking out to assist with questions. They helped me find a place to rent life jackets for my kids for the week- and it was a lot more affordable than the options I had found. I was impressed at their responsiveness at interest in making sure our stay was great.
Honestly, I can’t say enough about how great this location and the management were. We will def be coming back.

Location was perfect good walking distance to anything you might need. There is an upstairs patio area and I think that could use an outdoor chair so it can actually be used there is no central AC which was confusing I was searching for a thermostat that doesn’t exist for awhile but those are minor inconveniences it was an excellent place and would highly recommend

Overall, we had a great stay. The condo is steps from the beach and centrally located near bars/restaurants. Short drive to anything else we wanted to do. Overall the condo was pretty clean, although we only received two towels for the entire stay. We had a small group and not enough amenities for that length of stay.

Condo is in a good location, above a bakery so convenient for coffee and pastries. The beach is a block away which is awesome. If you aren’t an expert in backing into tight parking spaces this garage will be a challenge. Getting as close to the wall as possible I still struggled to get out of my vehicle. Two large SUVs would not fit. Luckily I don’t drive a large SUV. The beds were comfortable, but the carpet and bathrooms have seen better days and the furniture is very dated. The patio table and chairs should be replaced, or refinished and the windows could use a good cleaning. Overall, it met our needs and is priced well for being so close to the ocean and bay.

Great Beach Rental
This unit has great beach access and was comfortable for four adults and 2 children. Upstairs bed is too firm, but the room was perfect for family of four.
We had to purchase paper plates so we would have enough dishes for meals in each day. Flatwear was in short supply as well

Pros-
Beach is steps away.
Bar across the street.
The neighborhood quiets down after 10pm.
Walking distance to almost everything you would need.
We are youngish parents with kids from 7-13 and still enjoy date nights often. We felt safe leaving the kids home while we walked to our date night spot.
Fully supplied with beach toys. We didn’t know there was a ton of beach toys so we bought a set and left it there.
The aromatic bakery underneath was a wonderful treat if needed from 7am-1pm. We were close driving distance to SD zoo, Seaworld, USS Midway and more.
Cons-
Parking in the garage stall was a chore. The space is tight. Had to share with rental unit next door. We had a mid size SUV and it made it a bit more difficult. Best to back in. Luckily my husband has A+ skills to do so. If not, you’re going to stress out.
A ton of key codes to memorize (from opening the lock for beach supply storage to opening locks for the trash dumpsters, gates and garage) phew! I get it, safety is key! But just be prepared for it… Get ready to pull your code notes out if your memory is subpar!
The place wasn’t as clean as I’d expect. Needs a deep cleaning. Windows were dirty, lamps were dusty and base boards and walls were dirty.
Needs a fully stocked kitchen. It was missing tin foil, zip lock bags, basic spices. Etc.
We gave it 4 stars because it was a great layout for our family with our own separate spaces and an awesome location!

Great location
The unit and the location were awesome. The furnishings and fixtures are a bit on the older side, but there was plenty of room for my family. Check-in/check-out was easy. Bonus points for being right above a bakery, which was super convenient for breakfast.

Great Spot for Family
Pictures showed views of the ocean, but don't expect to see the beach. Smells from the bakery below were enticing. Parking was tight, as advertised. What wasn't advertised was the alley getting into the garage was tighter than the garage itself. Check in said we had the left spot, which we did until other guests showed up for the other unit. They took it, but I didn't argue...didn't use the car much anyway, but I did have to climb out the window of the car. Please mark the spaces. Bikes were a little rusty but they worked great on the boardwalk.
Management called several times to make sure things were going OK.

Spent Thanksgiving week here and hosted my sister’s family. It was clean and had plenty of room for cooking and eating and hanging out. Is steps from the boardwalk and absolutely perfect! We even rode the bikes on the boardwalk-it was awesome!

A little effort from owner could take this property from good to great: a thorough deep cleaning; fix the balcony door, screen door, & blinds; wash the windows; replace broken & rickety balcony table & stools. Manager did her very best!

Nice use of space and close to beach
We like the way the apartment is laid out, it is spacious and open. However, the common area noise does travel throughout the room. We liked that the place was so close to the beach, but it was noisy on weekend nights... live bands and karaoke type loud. The place was very clean and had alot of amenities. We used the bikes everyday to ride to the grocery store and Belmont park. We used the boogie boards and beach chairs. There is a place to rent jet skiis in the bay that’s only a 5 minute walk away. The beds were great. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent beach get away 😌
We were very impressed by the location and even adored the fact that we were above a bakery. The Terrace that over looked the ocean was incredible. We cooked all of our meals at home for our 3 night stay and found everything we needed easily. We plan on using this property again in the future. Appreciated the shared beach chairs and boogie board so we didn’t have to rent any. Thank you

Fantastic Location with Everything You Need!
Great location for Mission Beach! This unit is located directly above a bakery with a balcony where you can sit and people watch; you can see the beach/ocean as well. Walk west about 100 steps and your at the beach. Walk east about 50 steps and you're on Mission Blvd. continue east another couple blocks and you're at the Bay. Walk 15 mins north or south and you're at Pacific Beach or Belmont. This unit has everything you need from boogie boards to towels to beach chairs.
Management was on top of everything and had it dialed in perfectly! This unit is a bit outdated, but clean. Definitely will stay here again!

We had a great time at the beach. The location of the property is just off the main promenade and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. It was well kept up and perfect for the six of us.

It is truly steps to the beach and boardwalk! The area does have a lot of commotion, but we loved that. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching all that was going on.
The place was clean and had what we needed in the kitchen. But we didn't really cook, we ate out most meals.
The only issue we had was with the garage door but they were on top of it and fixed it right away.

Schönes Appartement mit Meerblick
Die Lage ist wirklich sehr nah zu Strand und Meer, welche vom Balkon aus auch zu sehen sind. Großzügige Wohnung mit sehr schönem, lichtdurchflutetem Schlafzimmer auf der Empore. Die Bäder sind geräumig genug, verfügen über ausreichend Abstellfläche und gute Beleuchtung. Sogar Duschgel und Shampoo werden angeboten. Die Küche ist sehr groß und bietet alles, was man zum Kochen und Speisen braucht, auch richtige Weingläser. Alles ist recht gepflegt und in gutem Zustand. Der Balkon ist schmal, für zwei Personen aber ausreichend. Ideal zum people watching, wenn die Surfer morgens zum Strand ziehen. Ruhiges Umfeld, die Olive Bakery im Erdgeschoß macht einen guten Cappucino (medium 3.50$) , backt gutes Brot (das aber manchmal von gestern ist) und schliesst um 13:00 Uhr. Nach 22:00 Uhr ist es (im Oktober) sehr ruhig, das Coconut Cafe 100m schräg gegenüber an der Ecke Mission Beach Blvd schliesst dann. Tolles Angebot an Strandequipment mit ausgezeichneten Boogie-Boards. Die Garage ist ziemlich schmal für 2 PKW, man sollte darauf achten, kein Auto größer als 'Compact' zu mieten. Insgesamt ist das Condo auf jeden Fall sehr empfehlenswert.

Great location, nice amenities
This property was as it was listed for the most part. The location was so nice and close to the beach. The bakery below made the whole place smell lovely and tasted divine. Restaurants down the road made a night out easy and fun! The check in process was really nice. Everything has access codes and it made it easy for us to get into the unit without having to worry about a key. We arrived late Wednesday night to find the guest in the other unit who shares the garage parked in the middle of the garage blocking our space. It is a small garage with very little room to spare. I had to call the management company after hours. They said they would call the other guests. So we waited. The management company called back and said they couldn’t get a hold of the guest and that I needed to knock on the door. So that was a little awkward and I was really tired as we had been at Universal for two days. Once they came out and moved we got everything arranged. It would be nice for the management company to reinforce that someone else is also going to be using the garage. The other guests just assumed because it was late they didn’t need to move over. They clearly didn’t read the fine print which was laid out quite clearly in the instructions. The management was a little short on the phone but it could have been the late hour. The condo was really nice and spacious. The beds were comfy and the view of the ocean was lovely. It was a bit warm when we arrived but the rooms had fans so it cooled quickly. The upstairs had carpet throughout. It was really old and sort of nasty. This probably needs to be taken out. The management company had it vacuumed and cleaned as best they could but the owner needs to put up the funds to replace it. The first floor was hard floors and rugs which was nice and clean. The kitchen was pretty stocked but could have used more plates so I didn’t have to hand wash after every meal. Also they only gave us one hand towel, no wash rags and only one garbage bag. The unit came with bikes that you had to share with the other unit. This part of the bike situation was not on the advertisement. It felt odd to have to make arrangements. Fortunately the other unit guests didn’t really use them much and we brought some of our own to supplement. There are restaurants, pier and carnival close. The bathrooms are a bit dated but everything was super clean. Overall we would probably stay again as the experience was easy and the location is great.
