The house was not properly cleaned at all. We walked in and immediately had to vacuum the kitchen and wipe down the surfaces. There was dog hair everywhere, specifically on the side tables in the living room and the bedframes. There was still hair in the drawers in the guest bedroom upstairs. The upstairs primary bathroom shower handle broke off during use. The downstairs primary bathroom vanity had 2/3 lights burnt out.
We have been staying on this Island for 20+ years and have never experienced this kind of carelessness towards a rental property. It's almost as if someone came in to clean and then simply didn’t!

Kiawah is our favorite, this trip didn’t disappoint.

We really enjoyed our stay on Kiowah Island. The house was beautiful and well equipped.

We were in town for a wedding and the house was perfect for our large family. We enjoyed spending time together in such a peaceful setting. The location was very central and the house was very comfortable and well equipped. We would not hesitate to stay here again. :)

Great home with lots of room to spread out. The pool was a must with the hot temperatures. It’s on the small side, but we still enjoyed spending time out there daily. Beach access was a little over a mile away so it was an easy ride on bikes. The kitchen was well stocked and house very clean. The only things we’d change are having some more dish towels and wash cloths for the kitchen and updated tv’s so we could stream. Overall it was a great home for our family vacation!

This property has plenty of room and bathrooms to accommodate a tennis team of women. The pool and deck was a great place to gather and relax.

The check in process was so simple. The house had every amenity we needed to enjoy our stay. The pool was nice. Beds were comfy. Enjoyed the golfing and a night out in Charleston. Overall a wonderful experience!

We had a fire alarming chirping for 36 hours. We called the maintenance people and no one responded. We never found the beach towels or trash containers. The house had large dead bugs, carpet stains and didn’t feel that clean. It had a rotten egg smell. The pool was unusable cold and had no cover. We had a two year old and never felt safe. No toys or beach items available. Overall, it was a poor experience. We texted and called the maintenance company with zero response. We are still waiting for a response.

This was perfect for my daughter's grandmother's passing. So thank you.

The house is in desperate need of TLC and a professional exterminator. While the rental management company was attentive, professional, and did their best to remedy the issues (including making 2 visit to spray the hornets nests and a mid-stay clean), nothing can remedy a sorely neglected home. The “palmetto bugs” or roaches were everywhere, large and small. It needs to be addressed asap, and simply spraying Raid will not cut it. For such a large home in an exclusive section of the island, it’s a shame that the owners do not care enough to maintain it. The kitchen needs new cutlery, plates, paint, trash can, and a deep clean. Also, the drawers and handles were loose and wobbly, the closets lacked hangers, and the linens were very thin. The house needs a full overhaul. The one star goes to the Vacasa customer service. The house is in need of repair and it simply can’t be helped unless the owner invests in a full overhaul and extermination.

The house wasn't that clean, and there was a bad bug issue. The vrbo staff was very helpful with addressing issues. The pool was great to have, and the home havd ALOT of space. The good forsure out weighed the hiccups of the home.

193 Governors Drive was a lovely home, very roomy, well-decorated & well-located. However, we have the following suggestions: 1) that lighting be added to the front entrance, as that area is very dark in the evening; 2) more cleaning would have been appreciated in the home, i.e., the windowsills in the kitchen, removal of cobwebs above the toilet in the full bath on the first floor and in the screened-in porch; 3) we would have appreciated if all tvs were operational, as out of the four tvs in the home, only one was operational and that was the tv on the first level in the living room; and 4) it would also have been good to have 2 nightstands in the bedrooms, instead of one, particularly in the bedrooms that sleep more than one person per bed, as the other person in the bedroom really has no place to put their belongings.

The house is beautiful. The outdoor space with the porch and the pool was the best part of being there. The pool was just the perfect size. I would definitely rent this house again.

Beautiful!!
The house was roomy and perfect for our group size. Plenty of space to spread out and do our individual things. Very relaxing and serene! Only drawback was that the steps leading up to the door are very dark, but we used our flashlights to illuminate for each other. Great community!

Near perfect
We loved the location. Most of the amenities, were amazing but a few were not working properly. Nothing that would keep us from returning or recommending the property to others.

Beautiful property
Home was amazing! Only complaint was beach access in this area is difficult @ best. It is all residential & only one spot for public access.

This house was a last minute plan due to a hurricane intruding on our original destination. Our family couldn't have asked for more but let me tell you the negatives before the positives.
1.) You pay a $200 cleaning fee for what?? We had dead wood roaches in the home, spider webs everywhere, garbage all over the yard from the racoons and the garbage bins were plump full. If we pay to have a home clean you would expect that it will be clean and you aren't doing that on your first night- or calling vacasa to have someone come do it.
2.) Plan ahead if you are going to grill and request a full tank ready and waiting. There were 2 empty tanks so that postponed us grilling out every night until someone delivered a new tank.
3.) Have them triple check that pool! Little did we know the pool wasn't filtering and we lost a day of swimming so they could dump a ton of chemicals into it. Good thing the ocean is only a mile away and not expensive to pay to get into. Our littles were less than impressed with idea of not being able to swim while breakfast was being made.
4.) Pick up extras because toilet paper is sparse as is the paper towel, dish soap and hand soaps. We planned ahead on this and brought our own, had we not we would have made the 30 minute trek back to Charleston for WalMart. You can venture to the gas station on the island but you'll pay more and get less.
5.) Request the bug man to spray before you get there or you'll be dealing with all the bugs during the night when you're to enjoy the deck. My husband had enough and found the spray they had on hand, sprayed the deck himself.
6.) Verify that the electricity is up to par. The room on the main floor was unable to use the outlets without popping a fuse. This was rather unnerving as we had a young one staying in that room and the lady we spoke to indicated it could be a shortage and she'd send someone to make sure nothing started on fire. Needless to say we didn't use anything BUT the ceiling fan in that room all week.
Although we had a list of negative things we did have a lot of positives.
This home provided us enough space for 12 people, The on site chef was amazing and his waitress wasn't bad either. The cleaning crew may have been on vacation as was the property manager ( true story!), this home gave us a weeks worth of memories, laughs, and a vacation our whole family will forever remember. Had the hurricane not hit our original destination we would never had ventured to Kiawah Island, SC- seen a shark fin in the ocean, 3 sting rays, an overabundance of shells, 2 different lizards and many many other critters.
We would definitely return but maybe with a different venue to host us.
If you are looking to book this home- trust us you wont be disappointed as long as the above things aren't your experience also

Our family had a wonderful time again at Kiawah we loved the pool and per usual the beach is the best! We did run out of propane for the gas grill
The extra tank was empty. And the living room sofa was hard on the behind!

Wonderful home perfect for a group
I stayed at this property July 2021 with my 2 girlfriends and our children. Check in was very easy and the house was ready as promised at 4p. The house itself was perfect for our group. The pool was lovely (5 feet at the deepest), and was cleaned 2 times a week during our stay. The outdoors had an outdoor table with an umbrella and 4 lounge chairs with umbrellas. The porch has 4 lovely rocking chair overlooking the pool. The kitchen is lovely and the most well equipped kitchen I have had at a rental. Every drawer and cabinet are labeled so you know what goes in there. 3 bedrooms with queen beds and 2 bedrooms with 2 twin beds each. The mattresses were a bit soft and maybe a king bed in 2 of the rooms would be better (for those of us with stow away children. I did love the dual living rooms. A space for the kids and a space for the grown ups. There was plenty of space so that the tweens and teens had adequect private spaces. It is a really good value for the money and I would return in a heart beat.
BTW the Ocean course is amazing but booked out well in advance we discovered if you go around 2:30 to 3p you can hit golf balls and you may be able to get a last minute 9 hole tee time. Beaches are amazing. For families with children beachwalker park is the only one with a life guard.
Don't hesitate it was a great vacation!

Overall, our stay was good. We come to Kiawah 2-3 times a year. But the house, as other reviews say, it needs work. Here are some high and low points:Communication: this was disappointing. I received an email that we needed to wait to check in until the property was inspected. I had texted the concierge around noon, asking about early check in and they said we needed to wait until the inspection. 4pm is stated check in time. Well, 4:30 rolls around, after the stated check in time and we go to the property. Still no email, text call giving us the go ahead to go inside, that an “inspection” had been completed. I called VBRO and they said to go in. This inspection email never came. Strange. I had also called because we wanted a broom and dustpan and had a question about the main tv, HD was not working and they said they said I would hear back in 24 hours. Broom for pool area which was covered I leaves. I never heard back. We did figure out the TV, kind of, but the TV in the master did not work either. (We did not use the main master so it was not a big deal.) Pool: pool states it is not heated and it is not. That said it is larger than I thought and a good outdoor space. After 2 days in the sun, good for the kids! But after 2 cloudy days - too cold to swim. Best part of the house. Actual space: Minimally decorated- which is reflected in price - so that is totally fine. It advertises queen beds and that is what is there. But a lot of damage to vents (little ones beware) - some almost completely open like in dining room. Arms of couches and chairs are damaged. Definitely needs to be painted and updated furniture. Again- I think the price is a little lower than other places bc of this, but it definitely needs updating and broken furniture needs to be changed out. As stated, master tv does not work. Kids beds upstairs super uncomfortable (you can feel the springs). But upstairs master was fine. Location: on Governors, but the noise is completely blocked out from high walls. Pretty close to to Ocean course and beach is drivable or billable. Cleanliness- it was okay. Carpet was definitely not vacuumed- and if it was- new vacuum is needed. Hard surfaces appeared clean. Smelled of stale smoke so we spent a lot of time airing out the house. The smell was a low point. Overall: I gave it 4 stars bc honestly, the lower price reflects some of what I mentioned. A little TLC, and it would be a great rental.

Wonderful family getaway
We always love when the advertisement is exactly what the property offers. The house was wonderful and the options on the island made our stay memorable. The one suggestion we offer is to upgrade the downstairs master to a king bed. We agree with other posts that although there are 5 bedrooms, since 4 are upstairs showing a common living space, the property may not easily accommodate multiple families who want there own space. Since it was just our family the kids LOVED having their own kid’s space upstairs with a stocked mini fridge and hang out space. There are some minor upkeeps needed on the grounds but that comes with any property. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet, get away space.

Perfect Pool area
We loved the pool as it was shallow and then had a deep section. Our toddler could enjoy the shallow area and play. The surrounding deck was perfect for sunning and grilling out. It was very private. 12 minute bike ride to Boardwalk 40 to enjoy the beach. Quick car ride to Osprey point clubhouse and also the Ryder Cup Bar for food and drinks. More outdoor lighting would be nice for entering the home after dark.

Great family spot
Overall, we were so appreciative of the hospitality by both the owner and the property manager. Kiawah is beautiful. It has a great bike ride route to the beach. We ate on the screened in porch every night.
A few things to note - it's a small house for 5 bedrooms so you definitely don't want to have too many people (living areas are small). It had some odd maintenance issues that we couldn't fix while we were there because of COVID-19 (the handles on the doors fell off and some other strange things). That said, the property manager was incredibly helpful and responsive - if it wasn't during corona, I'm sure they would have come to fix right away.

Disappointed
This house has great bones but has been neglected. The pool area was a wreck - full of debris and leaves which my husband spent two hours cleaning. We requested a heater (generally available in Kiawah) and was told it was broken. The carpets were old and should have been replaced 10 years ago. The outside lights to get down to cars and driveway and not working making it extremely dangerous to come and go at night. The A/C was broken - and our upstairs guests roasted for the last two nights. The property manager was very responsive - sending pool guy out to clean (but couldn't fix the heat bc heater is broken) and A/C man out hours after I called. But clearly, this great house is not being kept up.

Big House, Bare Bones
About a 20 minute walk to the beach. Spacious house with beautiful pool and patio. Bare bones, so be sure to bring extra detergent, soap, coffee, cream, beach towels, etc.

Lots of space
Large House, lots of space, bare bones so bring extra soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, coffee, cream, sugar, etc. House is about a 20 minute walk to the beach. The pool and deck are beautiful and a great place to hang out. Plenty of room for parking and nice having two dens with two tv's for people into sports.

Wonderful Stay
The house was wonderful. There were a few minor cosmetic things that could be done but overall the house had everything that we needed. We would definitely recommend this location and Vacasa to our friends.
