Chalet Aquila 8 is a conveniently located high-end 3 bedroom vacation apartment with loft perfectly positioned for ski-in / ski-out and mountain hiking trails. Located in the family-friendly “car-free” village of Wengen with a ski slope right outside and a short ski to the village cable car station, the mountains and ski areas are truly on your doorstep! It’s also just a 300m walk to the train station or nearest supermarket.
This top-floor apartment sleeps up to 8 people, has 3 bedrooms, 1 double with king sized bed and 2 twin bedrooms plus 2 sofa beds in the loft / gallery… a cosy hideaway for the kids! All beds are European sizes. It has 1 family bathroom with bath shower and WC, and 2 en-suite bathrooms each with bath, shower and WC.
This new, high-end top floor apartment at Chalet Aquila is an extremely appealing and convenient option for central accommodation in Wengen. A ski-in / ski-out property, it is located at the top of the village ski slope, yet is only steps away from restaurants and the train station or cable car.
The décor is warm and inviting, and the use of light wood finishes throughout makes the space feel bright and open. A fireplace, comfortable furnishings, free Wi-Fi and TV create a friendly casual place for relaxing and entertaining. When not dining in the nearby restaurants, the kitchen is well equipped for all your cooking needs, while dining al fresco on the south-facing balcony is a must, and gives you a chance to take in the stunning mountain vistas!

What you should know...
Although Wengen is a "car-free" mountain village, arriving by car is no problem. There is a large multi-storey car park at Lauterbrunnen train station, with trolleys for your luggage and lifts to the station platforms. It is just a 14-minute scenic cog train ride up to Wengen. The trains depart every 30 minutes until 9.30 pm and then hourly. Taxis are available for hire at Wengen train station if you require assistance to your chalet.

Note that there are 2 sofa beds on the open mezzanine loft level for the 7th and 8th guests. The mezzanine level has a low ceiling.

There are no words to describe this fairytale magical place called Wengen! I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life. The VRBO was a perfect complement to this magical place. It was quaint, comfortable and the views were like nothing I had ever seen. We left this morning for Lucerne, and wish we would have stayed in Wengen at this amazing VRBO until our last day.

This penthouse was perfect for us and our 4 adult children. Everyone had plenty of space and there was ample room to spend time together as a family. The place was well stocked with all the cooking supplies needed to stay in for a home cooked meal and even have some traditional Swiss fondue! The place was quiet, except for the bells from the neighbors sheep, which is part of the Swiss charm. We enjoyed the view of the Alps from our balcony as well as watching the cogwheel train pass by. Would recommend for a family, or even two families to share. The place is up a steep, but again-par for the course!

An outstanding, sunny apartment with decks on two sides to enjoy the views of the mountains and village. The grocery store, bakery and train station are all about a 5-6 minute walk. Immaculately clean apartment with a washer/dryer on premises so we didn’t need to pack as many clothes. The best!

Our family of 5 (inc kids 17,15,12) had an amazing stay in Wengen in Aquila 8. The apartment is located a short walk uphill from the train station and has amazing views both down into the Lauterbrunnen valley as well as up towards Mannlichen and the famous peaks. We enjoyed using Wengen as a base to explore the area while being a little off the beaten path of Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen/Murren. We drove from Zurich and parked easily at the Lauterbrunnen train station, which we used to get up to Wengen (although the walk DOWN is scenic and fun). The apartment layout worked well for our family with 3 main bedrooms plus the loft allowing everyone their own space. The kitchen was nice and well-appointed and allowed us to cook a couple meals while not eating out elsewhere. Communication and check in with Julie at Wengen Apartments was easy. Overall had a great stay and would do it again!

I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. My family of 6 (2 adults, 4 children) very much enjoyed our stay and we’re reluctant to leave after 7 nights. We loved being on the top floor, and especially enjoyed the balconies.
The apartment was accurately described and the host, Julie, was very responsive.
It’s worth noting that the loft is very short, especially at the top of the stairs. One of my kids liked it, but otherwise we probably wouldn’t have used the space.

Chalet Aquila 8 was perfect for our stay in Wengen. We researched many homes before booking Aquila 8. What we like most about this home was the space for our family to enjoy the spectacular views. We liked the open floor plan and unique loft area for the kids.
The home was in perfect order and offered many amenities to make us feel at home. The view from the balconies was excellent and we were treated to goats and sheep with their bells in the adjacent yard. It made for great entertainment as we watched a goat that continually escaped and tried to get back in the yard!
Wengen is our favorite place to stay in the Alps and this property allows for easy at-home cooking if you wish. We cooked a few meals and brought back pizza one night from the nearby Caprice Hotel.
After a hard day of hiking, it was great to relax on the balcony and have a drink overlooking the valley or up to the Jungfrau. We were blessed with perfect weather, which made the Chalet even more enjoyable.
Plan to be back in the future, perhaps to ski.

Our family of 4 vacation was excellent starting with the booking process until the day we left. The Penthouse was more than expected and our host, Julie, was exceptionally helpful. Wengen and the surrounding areas were absolutely stunning!!

The accommodation and views were superb. Julie was extremely helpful - even with regards to organising the Covid testing. Very glad of the lift which operated with Swiss efficiency! We have stayed in Wengen multiple times and would very happily stay again in Chalet Aquilla.

What a slice of Heaven! From the moment we opened the door until we turned the key on the way out, every moment of this stay, in probably the most beautiful place on earth, was utterly refreshing and reinvigorating. I would love to more than just stay here... I would live here. 10/10

Wengen is an awesome town with spectacular views they are breathtaking. The property is located a short walk from downtown and the view from the living room balcony and bedroom balconies are awesome. The manager Julie communicates great with you and will provide any information needed.
I would recommend this property for anyone wanting to head to Wengen. I can’t say enough nice things about the city, the property, property manager and the views.

This is a beautiful chalet in the exquisite town of Wengen. Our host Julie was great at communicating and even though there were some challenges getting the payment sorted out internationally, Julie was patient and we are so glad we were able to make this trip happen. The property was amazingly positioned with a great view of the mountains and valley and close to the train, which is the main way up to Wengen. The only way up is by train or a steep hour long hike. Trains and food in this area are expensive, but for that you are getting to enjoy the most beautiful scenery in the world. And coming home to this chalet does not detract from the day. One thing to be aware of is that the ceiling in the loft area is very low, so be prepared to duck or maybe have children up there. Coming home from a day of hiking to this clean, simple, but elegant penthouse does not detract from your day and you can relax in style while taking in the view from the balcony.
