Set in 1200 square metreson one of the highest ponts in the bay, Casa Branca is perfect for groups of families or friends looking for an intimate and panoramic setting while maintaining easy access to Sesimbra. The accommodation is exceptionally spacious, well laid out and furnished and equipped to a high standard with stylish decor. Casa Branca has terraces at all levels with a terrace leading out onto the private heated swimming pool. The barbeque area is equidistant between the roof terrace and the kitchen. There is a large covered terrace on the first floor which is perfect for alfresco dining, and a comfortable roof terrace. All of Casa Branca's bedrooms are sea facing and some of the rooms also have views of Arrábida's National Park. There is a fully fitted kitchen with state of the art appliances. Please note that the owners will be living beneath the villa. Boasting springtime temperatures during the winter and cool summers freshened by a breeze blowing in from the Atlantic, Costa de Lisboa, on the southwestern coast, offers a rich and impressively integrated diversity. The capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of History. The Alfama is one of the oldest quarters in Lisboa. Since it largely survived the earthquake of 1755, the area still retains much of its original layout. Adjacent to the Alfama are the likewise old quarters of Castelo and Mouraria, on the western and northern slopes of the hill that is crowned by St. George's Castle. Every year in June, the streets of all three quarters come alive with the feasts in honour of the popular saints. The Graça quarter and the churches of São Vicente de Fora and Santa Engrácia are within walking distance of this area. Radiant skies brighten the monumental city, with its typical tile covered building facades and narrow Medieval streets, where one can hear the fado being played and sung at night. But Lisbon is also the stage for popular festivities, the place for exquisite shopping, exciting nightlife, and interesting museums, a place from where motorways branch off in different directions. Casa branca is situated in sesimbra only a mere 40 km away from lisbon. a picturesque small fishing town, with a medieval castle. Like a sentry the ruins of this 13th Century castle built by Sancho II protectively overlooks the village. Whilst here, do not miss the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora in Cabo Espichel (which was constructed at the turn of the 17th Century as a sanctuary and has often been used as a location for filming due to its singular architectural design) and Lagoa de Albufeira, a favourite spot for wind surfers.

The family enjoyed the great view of the ocean. It was a relaxing place that allowed us to tour around and go to Lisbon quite a few times. The villa had plenty of space for the 10 of us. We had a great time.

The property (as such) was a lovely old traditional villa in a beautiful location but there were a few hidden and unpleasant surprises that we didn’t know about. Firstly there are 51 steps to get up to the main living rooms (including three of the bedrooms) the other two bedrooms are on the pool level which is 36 steps up. In our opinion this should have been made clear, had we known we wouldn’t have booked as carrying luggage up was not easy, especially for older guests. Nothing was left for us, not even a bottle of milk for a cuppa. The villa was well equipped but there were no information leaflets for white goods etc .On arrival there was an awful toxic smell coming from a locked cupboard in the back lobby next to the kitchen this lobby also led to a fifth bedroom which we took, there was also a very small bathroom, a laundry room and crockery cupboards. We reported the smell and insisted they unlock the cupboard door so we could investigate . There was a water tank in the cupboard but also an uncovered drain which is where the smell was coming from. Marta, the housekeeper, kindly helped us stuff paper in the hole and provided us with an air freshener. Unfortunately this did very little and despite opening all windows in the area and taping up the vents in the cupboard and around the edge of the door the smell continued. It was so bad that we couldn’t use the bedroom at all and had to spend the first night on the sofas. The next day we reported this to the owner who’s attitude and attention to the matter was less than acceptable and little was done to alleviate the problem so we closed off this section of the villa ourselves, moved a bed ourselves, put all four children into one room and moved all our luggage to another bedroom for the rest of our stay. This was not convenient as we had to have 4 pre adolescent children of mixed sexes sharing one bedroom!!! Certainly not ideal and again not what we’d paid for! The pool was dirty and gathering algae and I had to ask for it to be cleaned. Hot water only really served for 4 showers at a time so many of us had to suffer cold showers! of Despite having these problems Mr Shah never came up to ask if we were okay, not once. Marta however was a lovely lady although Mr Shah clearly didn’t think so and openly called her an idiot when I told her how she’d helped us. We were celebrating a 70th birthday and didn’t want to spoil it so we made the best of things but thes problems did cause us distress,
