Experience the beauty of Highlands in this freshly decorated and well kept property! Escape to the beautiful luxury property "Bonnie Cottage"! This home is 1/2 mile from Half Mile Farm, perfect for families, sleeps 8 adults and 2 children comfortably with 3.5 baths with 2 huge garden tubs and 3 showers, 4 queen beds upstairs in 2 huge bedrooms, king bed in master bedroom with full en suite bath, finished basement is darling with ship lap and trundle bed and full rain shower! Winter view of Satula Mountain. Full kitchen with updated appliances and full size washer/dryer. Large double deck to sit and watch nature while you have a glass of wine or coffee! Being so close to town, you truly have the best of both worlds in this quiet mountain retreat! Wide plank hardwood floors throughout, fresh paint, large library with huge picture windows to sit and read and enjoy the natural beauty of the Highlands! Walk to downtown and Mirror Lake or make the short drive. If you are going in town to an event, or some thing, fancy or at night, you will want to drive and not walk. We do accept up to 2 well trained dogs with a $200 pet fee. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or in the beds. **Please note that we, thankfully, are not inside the zoning areas where short term rentals are being restricted In Highlands after 2023 and we do not support the actions of Town of Highlands in restricting our fellow short term rental neighbors in Highlands and have given money to their cause, even though we are outside the zoning restrictions. Because we are outside the zoning restrictions, we are accepting reservations for all of 2024.

We had a wonderful weekend in Highlands for a friend’s wedding, despite a couple of brief thunderstorms during the rehearsal evening and on the day of the wedding. Our accommodations added to a perfect weekend. The location of the house was convenient to the wedding venue and to Main Street in Highlands.

A beautiful and convenient home…We wished it was ours! And, it is so hospitable…fully equipped kitchen, toiletries, games, books, everything! My children loved the ping pong table in the basement. We really didn’t want to leave.

We could not have booked a better home for our stay in the Highlands! This place has it all! It is very spacious, from the living room, bed rooms, back yard porches, everyone was comfortable! It has a well stocked pantry, something we’ve not had before! We only used a few granola bars for a couple of hiking adventures but had so much more to use at our disposal! We were there for a family wedding and really our only disappointment was not enough downtime to spend enjoying the home! Oh and the art decorating the home was beautiful! Kuddos to having a very special place and will definitely look forward to coming back and booking again!

My family and I had a wonderful stay in Bonnie's Cottage. Their communication was great and personable. The house is thoughtfully stocked and furnished. The deck is beautiful and my kids played lot of ping pong in the playroom. The location is idillic. It's beautiful and a close drive to Main Street.

It was very nice and much roomier than we would’ve guessed from looking at the picture. It would be ideal if we had brought more family with us. The location to town was good but the road coming up to the house got mighty narrow when you met cars. The only complaint we had was the lighting in the house was terrible. We just like a well lit house and it was very dimly lit.

My husband and I have stayed in many VRBOs. This was by far the best. The house is absolutely gorgeous, spacious, and extremely well-stocked. Wendi is a phenomenal host. She was so patient with me, and promptly responded to my questions as we planned our trip. The neighborhood and views are beautiful, our family couldn’t have been more comfortable. I highly recommend this listing, and I hope that we can return!

Never have I experienced the degree of effort to which Wendi went to assure our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed- really EVERYTHING we needed. Without question, the Highland area is certainly a gem! My family and I make it a point to visit the mountains yearly and our stay at Bonnie Cottage made that possible in the best way! The rooms are very well maintained with ample bedding and nice mattresses. Additionally, the kitchen is very well appointed with many baking/cooking accessories to whip up a quick meal for any travel-weary guests! Best of all, most of our group were fortunate enough to spy a mother bear and cub! I cannot speak enough about the beautiful home and its view, nor the thoughtfulness of the owners! Thank you for sharing your home to give us this wonderful vacation :)

Lovely place to stay in a nice location. We enjoyed sitting on the deck looking at the beautiful scenery. The beds were clean and comfortable as were the den furnishings. My husband loved the Library and the comfortable recliners. Coffee and coffee makers were provided including K-cups along with a welcome bag of snacks and bottle of wine. Wendi was very accommodating and promptly replied to all our questions. Would recommend highly and would like to stay there again.

Bonnie Cottage was perfect for my family, including grandchildren ages 7 and under. It was a treat to have the gorgeous view from the deck. We really enjoyed the two huge bookshelves and games in our down time. The bedrooms were huge and worked well for family units. We will definitely plan to stay here again.

In the middle of a 15 day jeeping and camping (overlanding) adventure, I booked us a cottage in Highlands, NC to get some showers, real beds, laundry facilities, and recovery time, before heading back into the woods. I am sure glad I did, because we all absolutely loved Bonnie Cottage. The location couldn't have been more perfect, being merely minutes from downtown, and at the same time, perched among the mountainside woods in a way that felt almost as secluded as the backcountry dispersed campsites we'd been enjoying along the way. The roads to get there were slightly confusing, but incredibly charming, and it seemed that each time we drove to or from town, one of us had to comment on how nice the drive was. The facilities were everything we hoped for, having enough showers and tubs for three weary, traveling adults and one toddler to quickly get bathed up and head in to civilization for dinner. The washer and dryer worked as expected and the kitchen was a great size and setup, although I must admit, after a week of camp cooking we never really used the kitchen much, opting instead to dine out. The beds would be my only concern, and that's only because my wife and I are used to extremely firm mattresses. If you like a plush and cushy mattress, these beds are going to make you feel like you're sleeping on the clouds. As for the house, it was clean, charming, peaceful, and well kept. We will definitely be recommending this place, and hopefully be back someday.

Excellent place! Tastefully furnished and Decorated beautifully with personally done art. Everything we needed was there. So well equipped. Host was so responsive to any help and questions we requested. We were very comfortable and enjoyed a nice girlfriends getaway weekend .

Bonnie Cottage has quickly become our family’s favorite vacation home when visiting Highlands. Once you pull into the drive way you feel like you are home. We had such a great stay in Highlands for the Christmas tree lighting! Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy this beautiful home! Wendi was great at communicating and left us a welcome bag full of goodies. The house was spacious and cozy. The kids enjoyed the games and reading books. Our stay from start to finish was seamless. Communication was top notch. The home owners have gone above and beyond providing everything we could have possibly needed during our stay. The house and communication with the owner exceeded my expectations. We had 5 total couples here for a friends wedding and everyone was happy with our choice for lodging even though it was about a 7-8 minute drive from the downtown Main Street. Would definitely stay here again.
