Babcock house is the ultimate bed and breakfast experience. In a historic home in Appomattox, we enjoyed tremendous breakfasts after our nights in the Rebecca room on second floor. We enjoyed the balcony over the front porch as a storm began to set in. We read the reviews about dinner, so we then booked a reservation for Friday night supper. It lives up to all these reviews! The dinner menu was full of delicious options, and I can tell each was well prepared based on our two choices that evening. The cocktails were innovative. For what we were served, it was very reasonably priced. The breakfast came with the room, which was also an excellent package. One morning was, sausage, eggs and grits but with a twist. Another was French baguette, pancake with strawberry syrup and bacon. I can give kudos to this and keep a couple for knowing how to treat guests so they will come back. We spoke with another couple who comes three or four times a year from about an hour away. I think that speaks volumes!!
Not much at all to improve. Such a fine old historic inn w/ history. The balcony out front is for all guests and not attached to one room. There was capsule coffee upstairs in the hall.
The Rebecca room, no 4, had a double bed, not a queen. I think the rooms surrounding ours (3,5,6) seemed to offer queen beds, with 5 and 6 being on back corner thus having very sunny windows. But honestly you can’t go wrong at Babcock House!

Beautiful building. Owner Talia was wonderful and an excellent chef. Extremely clean. Exceptional value. Breakfast alone is worth the price. Easy location

Historic home, close to sites I was visiting garden , felt like owners loved the uniqueness of the home’s historical value, so they repurposed it into something good for the economics of the community. A win-win!!

The food is absolutely unbelievable. Dinner and breakfast were both a real treat.
I like B&Bs, but if you are expecting a giant characterless room with a wide screen TV…sleep someplace else.

The inviting rocking chairs on the front porch for happy hour. Sunday brunch was a delicious send off to exploring nearby Appamattox Courthouse National Historic Site. The Rebecca Room was comfy and beautifully furnished and breakfast delicious with superb personal attention. Innkeeper was attentive and available

The inn was charming, the hosts were delightful, and the food was delicious! Our room was lovely - a little dated- but the beautiful bathroom and charming second floor balcony were wonderful added features.
Sadly, outside of this little gem and the Appomattox Courthouse, there is really nothing to do in the town.

The Hostess, Talia was wonderful! She was very friendly and helpful. We even had a last-minute diet change that they catered to with no problems. The breakfast was delicious, and the bed was comfy!
We did have some issues with the internet not working so great, but everything else was perfect.

Very relaxed, unpretentious and comfortable. The dinner menu is exceptional - a pity we weren't hungrier. Fantastic breakfast. A real chef in charge in the kitchen.
The air heating in the room is a bit drafty and noisy, but that's a matter of not being used to it.

We liked the hostess, the parking, the breakfast was superb, the location was quiet and the originality of the property was welcome.
The room was a bit small for the money (plus small double bed) and we were sorry that there was no bar/drinks or food options - we arrived early evening and would have welcomed a cocktail and closer proximity to eating (kitchens were not open and had to drive to range of standard eateries in town).

This was my first time at a bed and breakfast. I may never stay in a hotel again! The staff is so warm and personable. The suite we were in was modern and yet cozy with a farmhouse feel...with a gas fireplace that made it my happy place during our stay. The food was nothing short of amazing!! They also have the most beautiful library (photos attached) and I'm a book lover so this was a huge bonus for me. Breakfast is included with your stay and it wasn't just coffee and donuts like at a regular hotel. No, honey. I had peaches in molasses with whipped cream and a ham omelet and every bite was deliciously satisfying! And...I left my silver pinkie ring and texted the Inn Keeper--because she gave us her number-- and she is mailing me back my ring. And when I told her I forgot to purchase a shirt, she offered to charge it to my card and mail it along with my ring. You can't get that kind of service at a hotel. We will definitely be back!

Loved it all but house is an older home ( obviously ) so you will have floor creaks and older beds etc but that just adds to the magic of the place

Owner/proprietor very nice.. Excellent ham omlet for breakfast.
Nothing that isn't just part of staying in a house from the 1800s.

We were treated as special guests by the owner Tulia. The two breakfasts we enjoyef were the best ever. Only sorry that ee couldn’t enjoy the dinner as certain to be remarkable! The room was lovely but given the chance to visit again, we would opt for a larger bed. The overall atmosphere have lovingly retained the feeling of the gentle home. Thank you again.
