We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week staying at this charming home. It had plenty of room and the main living area and kitchen with water view was perfect. The history of the community and house added to the feel of a beloved home - with all the comforts of today. Communication with the owner was kind, caring, and much appreciated since we were arriving from California. A relaxing and delightful location.

Great time had by all! It appealed to ages 4 to 70 (our infants had a great time too but can’t really give an opinion yet :) ). Melissa was helpful and easy to communicate with, the property was outstanding with plenty to do, and location can’t be beat between marina and beach and close to great food. Would definitely stay again.

Spacious, sunny kitchen with scenic views of salt pond, flowers and wildlife. Easy access from marina for 16 ft boat at this house dock. Two entertainment centers spaced apart gave different viewing options. Comfortable beds in each bedroom. Lots of room for my entire family. Our stay was first rate! The hawks nest is a very special place which was difficult to leave. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Location, Location, Location! The house is literally 5 minutes from the highway and you would never know it once on site. The tranquility and privacy of the home were some of the best I have experienced in my many rentals over the years. The kitchen was beautiful and well appointed, having 3 full bathrooms was a plus and overall there was enough space for 10 of us to not feel crowded with one another. Let's not forget the incredible views, good fishing and the FREE golf course just steps from the front door. Truly a unique property that I do hope to be back to in the future.

We had a fabulous time at this property. We spent a huge number of hours just being on the patio and watching and hearing birds. The house was very well kept. WE loved the tennis courts across the way. We had quite an age range but everyone ended up being very happy. Many thanks to Melissa who was an outstanding hostess.

This property was amazing AND exactly as portrayed. It's an older but well cared for home with lots of updates to the kitchen and bathrooms. For us, 3 couples with some visiting adult children, it was perfect. The bedrooms are set up in wings, each with its own bathroom. Eat in kitchen and dining area were very spacious and the back deck which is located off of both, had nice seating for eating also. We brought our boat with us so the dock was very handy for clamming in Ninigret Pond.

Although my family stayed in this home in October, it is obviously a perfect place for a summer vacation. Located on Ninigret Pond (actually an inlet), just off Route 1, with a dock in a private housing area, the view from the deck is gorgeous, and the area peaceful. The house has everything you need to cook for a large group, including multiple ovens, a great outdoor grill, and more plates, silverware and pots than you'll ever need, including, of course, a lobster pot. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, and the loft would be perfect for kids. The old, rambling house has been added to over the years, and there are pictures and decorations from the family history. My niece commented that it was like staying in a family home. Plenty of room for a large group to eat and cook together. If you have a rainy day, there are puzzles and games to keep everyone occupied.
When you arrive, be sure to take inventory, as we purchased some things that were already there (paper plates, cutlery, etc.). This is a "use one, leave one" home, which is perfect when you only need a bit of mayo or a couple tablespoons of olive oil. There weren't a lot of spices, but most everything we needed was on hand.
Melissa was a great host, responding to all my questions promptly, and checking up to make sure we had everything we needed. Be aware you need to book WAY in advance if you want a summer spot.

The layout of the house was ideal for our group of extended family and one young child. The location near the South County attractions was ideal, and coming home each day to Ninigret pond and its amazing views and birds was perfect.

Blessed to have been able to spend a week at this fantastic home. The location is unique in a number of ways. As part of a private community it is very peaceful and private while offering plenty of nearby local attractions and activities. Lucky to meet some of the neighbors who couldn't have been nicer.
Walk out the front door and tee off on the private golf course or use the back door to the dock and on to the sandbar or private beach association. A well equipped kitchen and plenty of space for larger groups. Melissa is great. Truly magical place and highly recommended.

Our inter generational gathering of 10 people loved the house, the furnishings, the location and our hostess’ attention. Cooking Thanksgiving fixings went very well. The children loved the loft space. The grandparents loved the master suite. No complaints from the others. We’d stay here again! Dinner at the Matunuck Oyster Bar is a must for seafood lovers!

Great house! After several years of renting houses, this is the first house we've wanted to return to. Large well-equipped kitchen with plenty of utensils, dishes, pots & pans, etc. AND a table that comfortably seats 6. There is also a large dining room with another large table, which we used for doing jigsaw puzzles, many of which are in the house. Four full bathrooms and 4 bedrooms (3 with king beds, 1 with a queen) plus a loft sleeping area provide more than enough room for an average family or 2 or a bunch of friends. Lots of towels were provided. Little amenities like reading lights next to almost all bedsides were present. The view of the pond is incredible and the 2 available kayaks were appreciated. The owner was very responsive to all communications. The absolutely only thing we missed was being able to swim in the water in front of the house.

My family was able to have four generations stay at this location. It has a fabulous view, amenities and location. We were able to dock our boat and two kayaks, and the house provided two additional kayaks. The sunrise and sunset views were phenomenal. Not to mention the private beach, golf course and tennis court available to us. We are extremely pleased with the hospitality and the house. Thank you again.

We have stayed at a few other houses in the area but this one is the best we have seen.
The views of the pond are wonderful in the morning and evening. One early morning with my slightly jet lagged daughter we were down at the dock and spent 30 minutes talking to a man fishing off of his boat. Moments like this just make the whole trip better.
We rented a boat at the Ocean House Marina (
oceanhousemarina.com they were really great) for the week which really made the whole experience amazing. Digging for clams (my mom loves, LOVES digging for clams) walking around on the beach on the other side of the pond and just driving around the pond in the evening light. These things make the whole week even better.
But all that was around the house. The house itself is perfect for a couple of families to spend time together. There is room for the kids to get away from the parents, for puzzle laying, for naps, for cooking together in the huge kitchen. An not to mention the deck. Great place to sit and read and enjoy the light and the sounds.
We got to borrow the tennis court across the road and everyone made us feel welcome and part of the neighbourhood.
Thanks for everything! See you again soon.

My family enjoyed our second stay at Hawks Nest this summer. From this location you have easy access to Charlestown beaches and beautiful Ninigret Pond right in your backyard. The house has all you need for a great South County getaway, and the peaceful neighborhood and friendly neighbors make it even better. Everything is clean and well maintained. We can't wait for our next visit!

This is a very special spot. We came with our three kids, 6,5 & 1.5 as well as our sitter. The property is beautiful. The bedrooms were the perfect size and fit everyone comfortably. The beach was beautiful and my husband and I played a ton of golf and tennis. It was a true get away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago. We are already booked again for next summer. Didn't ever want to leave.

The house was very comfortable for our large group. Melissa let us in a little early due to our wedding ceremony scheduled for 5:30. The kitchen was well equipped.Almost everything else you would need, was provided. The setting was very peaceful overlooking the pond. We went to the local beaches, Block Island, Mohegan Sun, and visited many local restaurants.

the perfect spot for our family
to gather, relax, enjoy the beach, a variety of water sports, successful clamming, great food at area restaurants, as well as suppers on the deck, and a wonderful family reunion.
I recommend Hawks Nest without reservation.

The house, the pond, the land and the people in this place were perfect for us. We first visited in September and decided that we would be married in this beautiful, serene setting. We spent hours on the deck just looking out over the pond, watching the swans and listening to all the birds.
The house was clean and comfortable, perfect for our family and wedding guests. The golf course is beautiful and very challenging. We enjoyed walking to the shops, restaurants and beaches nearby, but most of all we sat on the deck and took in the pond. Kayaking around the pond was a wonderful discovery. We were so happy with our experience there that we've reserved the same two weeks next June.
