About this house rental
This beautiful and unusual property is located on the shore of Lake Victoria, one of the set of lakes making up the extraordinary and extensive Gippsland Lakes. The bush-land garden extends to your own private piece of shoreline with fantastic views. In summer you may like to swim, paddle or fish, relax on the wide deck, or even just enjoy the view from the comfort of the lounge. The ever changing lake is always a pleasure to watch. There are local bush walks and lots of photo opportunities here.
The house is striking and unique, consisting of two distinct and separate sections joined by deck. The main building provides a simple but fully equipped kitchen, open plan lounge, dinning, master bedroom (1 queen bed) and spacious bathroom (step down required). The second spacious self-contained bedroom (1 double bed) is separated from the main building by deck, accessed from the car-park by ramp and includes a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Also included is a breakfast bar - kettle, toaster, crockery, fridge, etc. small dining table and private sitting area.
The 'garden' is 3 acers of native Banksia forest with wonderful contorted gum trees and across the lake is the Lakes National Park. This somewhat wild garden is filled with bush-land and water birds - honey-eaters, wrens, owls, swans, sea eagles and many more; and is often visited by the native wildlife including koala, kangaroo, echidnas, wombats, possums and others. These guys are generally the nosiest thing around in this very tranquil place.
This truly unique and relaxing setting is the perfect place for a recharge or a a very special (maybe even romantic) treat! Get away from your everyday and experience the 'wild' in comfort.
Services
Services, shops, restaurants, coffee, fuel, health services, etc. are about 15-20 minutes away in either Bairnsdale or Paynesville - but the house contains all the necessaries for cooking up a meal if you bring your own ingredients.
Local Attractions
At the end of the road (1 km) is the Wattle Point Jetty and boat ramp, and also a lovely beach for walking or an alternative swimming spot. This is also a good place for windsurfing and fishing. There is also a lovely short walk to the point (about 2km) along a bush track featuring native flora including magnificent grass-trees, which starts from just near the front gate. Just down the road (about 3km) is the Blond Bay Reserve which contains fabulous diverse native vegetation and yet more wildlife - including Hog deer.
Region Attractions
The Gippsland Lakes, Ninety Mile beach, Rivers and Parks of this area provided a abundance of natural attractions but the region is also home to a diverse community of arts and crafts people and the area is also gaining a strong reputation for provision of excellent food and wine. In short the region provide fantastic resource for R&R of all varieties.
A Note re Kids and Pets
Being UN-fenced and having a completely separated second bedroom this venue can be a challenging setting for young children. Apologies but there is no secured play area Kids. Older children will love the wildlife, climbing trees and unlimited access to the lake shore, but younger children will required constant close supervision. Similarly, pets are allowed but will need to be under supervision, on lead or contained, for both their sake and to protect the wildlife. Thank you.

Stylish, homely, thoughtful, relaxing, grounding, stillness, these are some of our first impressions. We felt we were totally off the grid. We loved the regular visits from the resident wallaby and roo families, spectacular bird watching and pure relaxation. Favourite inclusions were the outdoor shower, lying on the sunbed, immediate lake access to use our kayaks, daily dips and swims and the personal design touches and artwork around the property. Ellen is a wonderful person and host who was located nearby so we could contact her if needed. This is a hidden secret and worth every cent. Perfect for down time to reconnect and ground one self. This would especially suit those with kayaks as the water access was just devine. Other local visitors included a wombat and koala. We will be back :) Thank you Ellen xxxxxx

So grateful to Ellen for our time in Goon Nure. We were warmly welcomed & Ellen introduced us to the unique delights of the local plants & animals. Light filled, amazing design looking out to Banksia trees, wattle & water. Cosy spots to read in the sun/shade along the decking. Enjoyed the frequent visits of birds and evening wallabies. Made the most of swims with the swans. Highly recommend, a home away from home!

Idyllic gateway from it all
Had a lovely stay. Property just like advertised. Very clean and comfortable. Setting among nature amazing. Wildlife very entertaining and very much 'part of the property'. Ellen was fantastic - both in sending information prior, inducting us to the property and follow up after we left. Wonderful experience.

Peace and tranquility with wildlife abound
Ellen was extremely friendly and welcoming for our arrival. Her pre arrival communications were excellent. We arrived on a public holiday so found ourselves short of some supplies. Ellen very generously offered supplies and in fact returned to us with fresh eggs and garden vegetables from a neighbouring friend's garden. Our accommodation was clean and very comfortable. Ellen has a plethora of local wildlife friends who visit and in fact she provided treats for us to give the birds, kangaroos, friendly kookaburra and butcher bird. These critters gave us hours of delight. Sitting at the lake and watching the swans swim by gave us beautiful moments of peace. While being away from the hubbub of crowds the property was still close enough for short day trips and sightseeing of the beautiful local area. Thank you Ellen. (And your coffee was great!!)

Beautiful tranquil property by the lake
We stayed here for two days over the New Year's holidays. This is a great property by the lake side with beautifully designed house, lots of trees and greenery. The interiors of the house are very nicely done. Its extremely clean and well maintained. The linen provided was very good. Kitchen is well equipped and has a good selection of Tea. Lots of different kinds of birds can be seen, we also saw kangaroo. Its a very tranquil and comfortable property. We had a great stay and hope to visit again.

Heaven on Earth!
What a joy it was to arrive, to be greeted there by Ellen and so warmly welcomed to her superb property.
Within an hour we were visited by the "Welcoming Committee" of 3 gorgeous kangaroos, who also returned later in the evening with some extra company. Birds everywhere flitting through the trees, stopping for a dip in the giant bird bath set in a beautiful bush garden. Later that night the possums came sneaking up to visit us, and kept us all amused. Just as we were heading off to bed, we heard a loud tapping noise and after investigating with the torch, we found the source of the noise...a tawny frogmouth (owl) up in a tree with a frog in it's beak, thrashing it against the tree trunk to kill eat before enjoying it for it's late night snack ...and this was just in the first 8 hours!
On another night time walk we saw a sugar glider, bats and more possums. The kangaroos visited us every evening, and on the last night we were there, 6 showed up with 4 of them returning late at night and staying until around midnight (as if they had come to farewell us!). We also saw a mother and baby wombat and an echidna on day 2, and black cockatoos arrived early on our last morning to signal impending rain.
We had an amazing few days away with total peace and serenity in every waking moment. The house was extremely well set up for comfortable and easy living and we had everything we needed and more. I should add that the TV was never switched on, as we were too busy having fun out on the spacious verandah being entertained by all the wild life.
I would highly recommend this property for anyone that wants a retreat from a hectic lifestyle, and it is a credit to Ellen that she is happy to share her little slice of heaven. Thankyou Ellen for having us to stay.

Beautiful artists retreat with everything you need
We stayed at Zinc House over Christmas - the kitchen is really well equipped, the property is beautiful and inspiring, the location on the lake is super romantic. House is open plan and easy to keep cool - even on hotter days has a great breeze off the water. Kangaroos and koalas on site! Ellen is really welcoming and provided really detailed instructions about all of the property's facilities. House is perfect for an older family or couple into kayaking or stand up paddling, boating or just enjoy natural bush setting.
We sat out on the deck until late into the evening and were glad we remembered our mozzie repellant! Beds were really comfortable with nice linen and Ellen provided coffee, tea, sugar etc. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.

Tranquil and beautiful
A gorgeous spot, right on the lake. The house is amazing. Would be great to be there when the weather is warm to enjoy time on the water. We had fun despite the rain, exploring the local game reserve by 4 wheel drive and riding our bikes around through local tracks. The kids loved the wildlife and exploring around the lake.
The only suggestion would be that the beds were very small. Comfortable but small.
The host was very friendly and welcoming, and gave us plenty of local advice for things to do.
We all had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.
