We had a wonderful vacation. This house was located in a quiet little town with very friendly locals. We rented a vehicle and was able to see a lot of Switzerland sites from this location. The house was very clean with a fully stocked kitchen. There was a pasture with cows behind the house...very peaceful. We highly recommend this house!

The chalet was lovely. At the top of the hill in Jaun with a beautiful view. It would be helpful to have something in writing on the property regarding only 2 rolls of toilet paper are provided as well as the single trash bag- this is common in Switzerland, but not in American VRBO’s. The host clarified this and it was no problem to find more in Charmey. Thomas was an excellent host and responded immediately to any questions we had. The on site managers were lovely, but only speak German, so we used google translate to communicate. I would recommend this Chalet for sure!

Stunning location and views are magical! Good access to local attractions and apartment was very clean. Could have sat and looked at the view all day!! Only recommendation would be to have some of the ‘things to do’ binder in English- we don’t speak German. Super trip and highly recommend!

Le chalet n'est pas situé au Bad-schwarzsee mais au-dessus de Jaun. Bad-schwarzsee est à 3h30’ à pied et sans route directe en voiture! Abritel a dû intervenir pour récupérer une somme injustement prélevée sur la garantie. Chalet très beau, bien orienté avec vue magique sur la vallée de Jaun et les Gastlosen. Tranquillité assurée avec gestionnaire sur place amical.

Chalet Barbara is a fantastic property in the Swiss maontain range. It has a great view over the valley and village of Jaun. There are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and department stores in close proximity (by car). The drive up from the village of Jaun to the Chalet might let city dwellers shiver, but it is part of the experience. The good news is there is little traffic and the drivers are polite and accomodating to "visiting drivers". The Chalet is superbly positioned for trekking and walks in the Swiss countryside. In fact, if you like walking you do not need a car at all, the track starts right at your doorstep and everything is within reasonable walking distance (20-30 min walk - 5 min by car). The Chalet is very well equipped, warm, and very cozy. The host and the caretaker couple are both six-star, e.g. vrbo should label them as 6-star super hosts. The communication was always very easy and the response swift. The entire team made a point to go the extra mile and make our stay exceptional. - The only improvement suggestion I have is to add a washing machine inside the apartment (could possibly be done by replacing the bathtub with a shower, to make space for a washing machine?). There is a communal washing machine in the basement, but it is only accessible through the outside staircase. Nevertheless, this is a minor issue given the overall quality and outstanding location of the chalet. It is nirvana for anyone who likes country living, hiking/skiing, peace of mind, and quietness. Highly recommendable. P.S. There are also cultural performances in the old church in the village of Jaun. Check with the friendly tourist info in the center of the village for the schedule

Die Wohnung ist wunderschön oder soll man besser sagen: heimelig-gemütlich? Das viele Holz wirkt überaus warm und freundlich und man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an wohl. Der Blick aus dem Wohnzimmer und vom Balkon auf das Tal ist wahrscheinlich der schönste des ganzen Ortes und die Wander- und Ausflugsmöglichkeiten sind schier unerschöpflich. Die Wanderungen von Jaun zur Brecca-Schlucht und zurück, die Gastlosenrunde, eine Tour rund um den Jaunpass, das Abenteuer Jaunschlucht, der Weg vom Jaunpass über die Almen nach Jaun und ein Ausflug ins Lavaux mit einer Wanderung durch die Weinberge von St. Saphorin nach Lutry haben Appetit auf mehr gemacht. Alles war wunderbar, auch dank des schönen Wetters! Der Hinweis „Bei 2 Personen und dem minimalen Standardpreis ist das Studio n i c h t im Preis enthalten. Das Studio kann zusätzlich für 10 Euro pro Nacht gebucht werden.“ sollte in der Offerte ganz vorne und unübersehbar platziert werden, sonst entsteht eine vorhersehbare Enttäuschung beim Buchen.

Das Objekt befindet sich oberhalb der Ortschaft Jaun. Die Lage ist grundsätzlich ruhig. Unterhalb des Hauses führt eine Strasse entlang, die auch von Bedeutung für Touristen, Radfahrer und Einheimische ist, daher ist dennoch mit Verkehr zu rechnen, der uns jedoch nie gestört hat. Ein Spaziergang in den Ort Jaun dauert ca. 15 Minuten. Dort gibt es alles für den normalen täglichen Bedarf. Sehr zu empfehlen ist die kleine Bäckerei Buchs am Ortsende Richtung Jaunpass. Unbedingt das Safranbrot probieren, eine regionale Spezialität ! Ebenfalls ein Muss ist ein Einkauf bei der Käserei am Ortsausgang, wo es neben einer großen Auswahl von Käse auch frischen Joghurt, Milch und weitere Köstlichkeiten gibt. Die Region bietet zahlreiche Möglichkeiten zum Wandern. Wir haben insbesondere die Runde um die "Gastlosen" genossen. Sportliche 11 km mit rd. 800 Höhenmetern. Eine sehr abwechslungsreiche Tour mit tollem Ausblick. Das Haus bietet neben einer großartigen Aussicht die Gemütlichkeit einer Berghütte. Die Ausstattung ist ordentlich und für eine vierköpfige Familie ausreichend. An bedeckten Tagen hätten wir uns mehr Licht in der Wohnung gewünscht. Zudem sind Dusche und Betten etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Vorteile des schönen Balkons, der tollen Lage, des großen Wohnbereichs und der gut ausgestatteten Küche überwiegen aus unserer Sicht aber. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis passt. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war problemlos und äußerst angenehm. Zudem steht vor Ort eine sehr liebe einheimische Familie als Ansprechpartner zur Verfügung (deutschsprachig). Gute WLAN-Verbindung vorhanden. KfZ-Stellplatz direkt am Haus. BR-Player und moderner TV. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können das Objekt und den Vermieter ohne Einschränkung empfehlen. Vielen Dank, dass wir Ihre Gäste sein durften.

Un chalet en bois typique de la région , situé en haut d'un village sans attrait particulier et donc l'accès demande une certaine habileté de conduite automobile. La surface du chalet est importante mais n'est pas aménagée de façon fonctionnelle : une très petite suite parentale donc une partie du lit demande une certaine gymnastique pour l'atteindre lorsque l'un des conjoints est déjà installé; une trés grande chambre pour les enfants lorsqu'il y en a ou une chambre à 2 lits séparés pour les parents ou autre couple.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt in der Ferienwohnung mit unseren beiden 7-jährigen Jungs sehr genossen. Die Wohnung bietet ausreichend Platz für eine vierköpfige Familie und ist sehr gepflegt. Am besten gefiel uns der fantastische Blick vom Balkon über den Ort und das Tal. Im Ort kann man alles Notwendige besorgen und Jaun sowie der Jaunpass sind prima Ausgangspunkte für entspannte, ausgiebige Wanderungen. Die Wohnung sowie die Lage können wir auf jeden Fall uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

We had a wonderful holiday in Chalet Barbara. The apartment was excellent, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was well equipped with even a cheese fondue set. The caretakers were super helpful, having the heating on before our arrival. Brilliant and even the weather was beautiful !

Nous avons passé quelques jours à Jaun dans un décor extraordinaire. Le Chalet Barbara était exactement comme on avait imaginé, joli, extrêmement propre, confortable, et on aurait pu passer notre séjour entier sur le balcon à admirer la vue sur la vallée de Jaun au son des cloches des vaches. Nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement et tout s'est bien passé! Merci à Thomas, M. et Mme Mast pour un long weekend parfait, qu'on referait volontier!

Das Chalet bietet einen wunderschönen Blick auf Jaun und in die Berge. Die Ausstattung ist OK. Leider hatten wir eine Baustelle - die Straße zum Chalet wird gerade erneuert. Die Umleitung war leider nicht durch Ampelanlage betrieben, was zu einer abenteuerlichen Auffahrt zum Chalet durch eine sehr enge Gasse führte. Bei entgegenkommendem Verkehr ( auch Radfahrer ) führt das zu erheblichen Anfahrtsproblemen am Berg. Gerne kommen wir wieder, bis dahin sollte die Straße fertig sein.

Wir (71/69) haben im Mai/Juni zwei wunderbare Wochen in der schönen Wohnung im Dach des Chalet Barbara verbracht. Der atemberaubende Blick vom Balkon in 1050 m Höhe war eine wunderbare Einstimmung auf den Tag! Die Wohnung hat alles, was man für eine erholsame Zeit braucht. Sie liegt ideal, ist sehr ruhig - Kuhglocken und Zikaden erzeugen die begleitenden Geräusche. Für die Fahrt zum Genfer See oder nach Bern braucht man nur 1 Stunde. Die Fahrt über den Jaunpass nach Gstaad oder Château-d’œx ist wunderschön. Natur pur. Gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind in Jaun und Charmey.

My Family and I selected Jaun and Chalet Barbara for our trip to Switzerland, and both decisions were the best we could have done. Jaun is a lovely village in a valley, mountains surrounding, with chalets swiss-style. The strategic situation allows visit Bern, Fribourg and Luzern and other nice villages like Interlaken, Gruyere, Thun and Murten. Chalet Barbara has all the facilities to enjoy and start all about mentioned above: is very clean, comfortable and charming, well conditioned and with incredible views. Regarding the owner, Thomas, from the beginning he was very kind and provided us all kind of information and help. The housekeepers, Mr. and Mrs. Mast were also very kind and helpful.

This property is exactly as described and pictured. It's actually a bit better since there is an extra shower and sink in the second bedroom. Also, the views are much better than the pictures reveal. The house was very clean and well maintained. The owner met us there and showed us around. He was very helpful and recommended places to shop and dine. The village is very quiet and quaint but there is much to do in the neighboring areas. We went to the Gruyere cheese making facility and the Nestle chocolate factory. We also drove over the Jaunpass to Gstaad for the day. If you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then this is your place. We will hopefully return to this house the next time we're in Switzerland.

Everything about the Chalet Barbara was perfect. Great location in the remote village of Jaun in the Gruyeres region. You can overlook the town and the waterfall from the balcony. The pictures on the listing that overlook the town were actually taken from the balcony. The owner and property manager were both great to work with. The Chalet itself was clean and spacious for our family of 4. The heated floors were nice. We were provided linens, towels dishes etc. There is nothing negative we have to say about our stay. Wee will definitely go back.

We had a wonderful stay at chalet Barbara in mid May. The location is excellent with a picturesque view of the Jaun valley. The chalet was quite spacious even for the four of us. The chalet is very well kept, well equipped and with good heating. Unfortunately we could stay only for 3 days but would have loved to stay longer. Its a great value for money. We surely recommend for families and romantic holidays.
