What to do in Beautiful Maggie Valley: Maggie Valley and the surrounding area truly has something for every member of the family. If hiking & nature are your favorite things, or if you are more interested in golf at one of the area courses, the cool temperatures and friendly natives will make your stay pleasurable. Several riding stables, including Queens Farm and Cataloochee offer trail rides daily. Skiing is minutes away in the early spring and fall at Cataloochee Ski Resort. Numerous rafting companies operate on the Nantahala River and several levels of excitement await the rafting enthusiasts. A word to the wise--the water here is from the mountains and it is notoriously chilly! The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad has scenic tours through the mountain passes boarding at the station in Dillsboro--check departure times and inquire about the sunset tours as well.
Asheville is a Must See!: A quick 30 minutes east on I-40 lies the town of Asheville, with it's charming old downtown section, dotted with quaint shops and delicious gourmet restaurants. If you are lucky, you'll be in town for the Southern Highland Craft Fair at the Asheville Civic Center and see the finest the area's crafters have to offer. In southern Asheville (Exit 50 on I-40) is Biltmore Village, home of the famous Biltmore Estate and Winery. If you have never been to Biltmore, it is a must see and a delightful way to spend the day on another continent. Like any large city, Asheville has a very nice mall and very nice traditional dining, but also beautiful gardens everywhere, and enchanting southern architecture at every turn. Probably what attracts us to Asheville the most are the great antiquing opportunities. Antique malls, barns and warehouses dot the city and we have great fun both window shopping and collecting. If you can, go see the beautiful old Grove Park Inn on Charlotte Street.
Heading to the West: The Cherokee Indian Reservation and Harrah's Casino are a 30 minute drive to the west on Route 19. On the other side of beautiful Smokey Mountain National Park, about a 1 1/2 hour drive, is Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and of course, Dollywood. Gatlinburg is known for it's unusual assortment of interesting shops, Ripley's Museum, and restaurants. Pigeon Forge has an amazing artisan community with many galleries and working studios. Pigeon Forge is also a haven for outlet shoppers, as well as home to the popular theme park Dollywood.

We loved everything about this property. The wooded setting, the porches, the creek to play in, the firepit, the 3 levels for all family members to have their own space to relax in, the new AC units were wonderful to have though we used it for a short time since the cabin is in a shaded forest setting and keeps cool. The fresh mountain air every morning can’t be beat. The kitchen had everything we needed. The washer and dryer worked great. The location is up the mountain yet just minutes away from all the Soco road restaurants and activities. We will return to this cabin for sure.

I wish there were not as many stairs/steps. I feel down the stairs and broke my ankle and had to leave early. We were not there the last Tuesday- Saturday.

Like staying at your grandparents mountain home - in all the best ways possible :)
This home is very clean and stocked with everything you need. My wife and I had a wonderful 4 night stay with our 3 young kids. Also, I was impressed with how nice and clean the hot tub was. Highly recommended!

Not for Motorcycles!!!
The pics of the driveway does not give an accurate pic of how steep the drive is. With loose gravel a motorcycle would not make it down or back up. I also missed the part that there was NO AC.
The cabin could use some updating when it comes to the Wi-Fi and TV. DVDs and VHS was in the bedrooms.
The kitchen was well equipped. The hot-tub was nice after long ride.

Amazing time
Brought my son and 5 of his buddies who like outdoor adventures whitewater rafting and hiking and the casino. The had a blast as they loved the seclusion of the home and enjoyed the hot tub. They all raved about the stay. So thank you for allowing us to enjoy the beauty of your home.

Review of our stay
Home was beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. The home was well maintained and had information post throughout the home to help direct. (Thank you for that). We only had 3 concerns:
1. No A/C. Showing you offer heater apparently lists the Algorithm under A/C.
2. Driveway was challenging to get out when it was raining. We were slipping trying to get out.
3. The new washer wasn’t connected when it was delivered. This wasn’t on the host but should be brought to the vendor they ordered equipment from.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would love if given the opportunity to use this home again.

Great for a getaway!
There is so much room at this house that our family of 6 had plenty space to separate when we needed privacy yet be all together when we wanted to (which was most of the time). The beds were too hard for our group’s liking, but that is a personal choice (a la Goldie Locks). However, the couch was soooo comfortable. In fact 2 of our group actually wound up sleeping on it. The hot tub was fantastic and super simple to operate. We loved taking advantage of the fire pit, although I caution others to go slow down the steps and slight hill from the porch to the house. It wasn’t hard at all but our 60+ yo member needed some extra hands to assist her. Btw, she appreciated that all 3 levels of the house had a full bathroom which meant she didn’t have to do stairs that much. Plus “her” shower on the main level was perfect for her - walk in shower with a built in bench! The kitchen was fully stocked with appliances for cooking. I chose not to use the dishwasher; just hand washed the few things we used. Plenty of towels for daily showers and hot tub use. And there was detergent there to use when doing laundry. I will let future renters know there is no toiletries provided though. So bring your own bath soap and shampoo, etc.
The drive is definitely steep but it’s a mountain so we expected it. Great location for our day ventures to Cherokee and the Maggie Valley area.
And the owner, Janie, was wonderful from the get-go! If we ever have the need for another Maggie Valley stay, we will definitely look up Dogwood again.
Thanks!

Immaculate home and thoughtful hosts
For my husband and I with our adult daughters, son-in-law and dog, this home was perfect. Each of us had our own floor and bathroom the hosts considered any needs we might have - from bandaids and bacitracin and soaps and paper goods to blankets and wood for the fire. The fire pit and beautiful backyard was our highlight. The hosts were extremely responsive answering every question quickly and fixing the grill within 24 hrs of being notified. Months before we came I canceled our reservation and Janie contacted me to tell me to make sure to cancel through VRBO so I could get full refund. We needed up rebooking and we are so glad we could.
Thank you Jamie and Mike for a seamless family reunion after a long lonely year.

Relaxing get away!
My husband and I just needed a place to wind down, relax, and enjoy the scenery. This was the perfect house. We enjoyed the sound of creek nearby, and the beautiful landscape that surrounded the cabin. Relaxing on the porches in the swing and the hot tub was really nice!
The cabin had everything we needed and was so organized and tidy!
We would definitely go back.

The Bear Head is the Best!
We felt comfortable the moment we arrived. We arrived late and it was raining and dark, so the driveway was a little challenging.
The home is amazing, and the upstairs bed is so comfortable! With the windows cracked slightly, the cool fall breeze along with the creek made for perfect sleeping.
The home has many great features. Few of our favorites:
-Location! Super private even though you could see the neighbor’s house.
-Main floor shower has the best water pressure.
-The fireplace!! We had a fire every night and with the cooler temperatures of fall made the house super cozy. We did not need the heaters.
-Fully stocked kitchen.
-The hot tub was wonderful. We used it often.
-The owners! We had an issue with the internet (which remedied itself) but when we told them about it, they called us immediately with assistance.
-And, of course, we loved the bear head!
Lovely home and lovely people. We would highly recommend this rental.

It is a beautiful property, lovely, comfortable and well stocked. The sound of the creek rushing outside lulled us to sleep every night. Truly a wonderful spot.

Great location!
Very nice, comfortable house surrounded by trees and a lovely creek with a small waterfall. It is lovely to sit on the deck and listen to the waterfall. Convenient to Waynesville, Dillsboro, Sylva which made it easy to take day trips.

Wonderful creek sounds
The cabin was nice, nestled in the mountain close to town and it had plenty of room for two couples. The sounds of the creek made for an amazing relaxing time on the porch, hot tub, or bedroom. The hot tub was wonderful and so relaxing but it was a little challenging to get the top back on as I have short arms. Also, it wasn’t too private with three cabins right there all around it.
The beds were comfortable but all of us had difficulty sleeping as it was stuffy at night. The ceiling fans helped but even with the windows open it got warm and there was only air flow in the upstairs bedroom. I do have to admit that the perfectly seasoned Grizwald #9 skillet on the counter was a welcome sight and was great for making breakfast.

COOL, COOL in every way!
We absolutely loved this roomy house. It was so cool even in July and August with the trees all around and being up 3100 feet. The porch with swing and rocking chairs was our favorite spot. We could even sit there and watch the rain fall through the many trees. The place was SO clean and homey at the same time. My second favorite spot was the upstairs sitting room with all of the windows. It felt like a sunroom with the breeze flowing through. The kitchen had even more than my own........ everything you could possibly need. They had lots of spices, sugar and flour for baking, and different coffees. The beds were very comfortable. I especially loved the master bedroom with the windows and lulling sound of the flowing creek. Oh! To bring that home with me! Plenty of hot water for all showers and many fluffy towels. We had the hot tub, cable, great wi-fi, Netflix, games, etc. The kids went kayaking and paddle boarding on Lake Junaluska, hiking at WaterRock Knob and Mt Pisgah on the parkway, whitewater rafting at Nantahala, horseback riding at Cataloochee Ranch, and putt-putt. We especially enjoyed our 2.2 mile hilly loop walk each morning right outside our front door on Dogwood Drive. We will be back next summer.... we were so sad to leave.

Loved the location. We got to see snow during our stay! The view from the deck was awesome. Kinda wish we had cable upstairs but I brought my laptop just in case and was just fine Netflixing at night.

Geat Place!
We do a lot of Home Away stays. This property is one of the best. Very well kept, nicely decorated, and extremely clean. Owners are very quick with responses and answers to any questions. The price is affordable and reasonable for this size of property. You can not go wrong picking this wonderful home!

Great Location
We really enjoyed our recent stay at this property. Janie is a great hostess and has provided everything in the home to make it feel like a “home away from home”. We really enjoyed all the “extras” provided. Take the owner seriously when they say this property has a lot of stairs. It does. However, the location which was less than 5 mins down into the heart of Maggie, the home like feel, and the best hot tub we’ve ever had at a rental, make up for the stairs if you don’t have mobility issues. We definitely recommend the property and the host. Thanks for a great stay, Janie and Mike!

Beautiful woodsy paradise
The house is beautiful and stocked with everything you may need. It’s a hidden gem in the forest, tall trees keep the heat out and the sound of the creek is wonderful. The fact that it has a hot tub and is pet friendly will keep me coming back.

Grandkids long weekend
My husband & I took out 5 grandchildren on a long weekend trip. This was the perfect place, we all enjoyed the location and privacy. The only thing missing was air...i think if it hadn't been the hottest weekend in NC it would have been fine.

Relaxing Getaway...
The property is easy to access and is located in a wonderful location. It was an unusually hot weekend but we stayed nice and cool underneath the beautiful tree canopy. The owner was very pleasant to deal with and communicated very well. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing, no stress visit to the beautiful western NC mountains!

Hostess with the mostest!
We were welcomed with all the homey touches in this cabin that just wrapped around us and made us feel all warm and cozy. Everywhere we looked there was evidence of the love in this house. We didn't lack for anything, all needs were provided for. The cabin was spotless and fresh smelling which just added to our experience of being pampered! The porch and the babbling brook were the icing on the cake! Thank you so much for your hospitality!
