About this house rental
The Little Stone is located in the small, gated community of Elk Point, in Zephyr Cove, NV, was built in 1927 with granite from the excavation of nearby Cave Rock Tunnel. Although it retains all the charm of a 1920s cabin, this mountain retreat was completely remodeled in 2008 with modern amenities and won Mountain Home Magazine’s “Best Historic Preservation” award.
Winter or summer, the Little Stone House is comfortable and inviting. The beautiful stone fireplace makes the cozy living room so relaxing after your day on the slopes. In the warmer months, this charming house provides several outdoor spaces to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms – one with a large marble shower, and the other with the original clawfoot bathtub which will take you back to a simpler time as you soak and look out the skylight above. The sofa sleeper in the loft is the perfect place for the kids to sleep since there is no privacy. A small deck off the king bedroom is a relaxing spot for your morning coffee. There is also a half bathroom downstairs. The beautifully remodeled and fully equipped kitchen features marble counters and a copper farm sink, and the dining room comfortably seats six. The back deck, shaded by tall pines, has a filtered view of the lake, and the outdoor pergola with a dining table that seats eight.
The Elk Point community has a large private beach, which you can reach by car or a five-minute walk. The beach features a roped swim area with an anchored swim and dive platform, a beach volleyball court and horseshoe pit. Double and single kayaks, stand up paddle board, bikes, water toys, sunshades and several sizes of life jackets are available for your use.

We loved our long weekend stay at the Little Stone House! Kitchen had everything we needed. The private beach was excellent. We hope to come again next year!

The perfect spot to get away for a few days, or weeks, or months...! The Little Stone House was cozy, quaint and in a perfect, quiet little community. The private beach was the definite gem, as we had it all to ourselves almost every day we were there. Nancy was a very gracious host and was always quick to respond to any questions we may have had. We will be doing our best to visit again as soon as we can! There are not enough wonderful things to say about this house. A true gem!

A small part of me wants to tell everyone how you shouldn't come here... just so i can enjoy booking this amazing gem whenever I wanted. But alas, i will tell the truth: it was perfect! Convenient in location, quiet neighborhood, remodeled to perfection, decorated thoughtfully. The owner is quick and generous to respond, as needed. Charming place, to the utmost.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in the summer. The house is beautiful and fully equipped with everything you need inside the house and for a trip to the private beach less than a 5 minutes away.
Our host Nancy went out of her way to be accommodating and was quick to text back if I had any questions. She clearly takes pride in this property and it shows. She's thought of everything to make your stay comfortable as well as informed on anything you might want to do.
The house is perfectly located away from the madness in town in a quiet neighborhood but is just a quick drive to get in the thick of everything.
We made great memories in our short time there and would definitely return.

The Little Stone House was perfect for our family getaway celebrating our daughter's high school graduation. It had plenty of room for all four of us. The view from the back deck was a favorite for morning coffee and sunsets. The private beach was walkable and super convenient to drive and park when bringing more beach equipment. A wonderful trip!

We had a wonderful time at the house. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, peaceful, beautiful, and had everything (and more) that we could have asked for. It was the perfect place to make memories together as a family. Thank you Nancy for sharing it with others!

We really enjoyed our stay in The Little Stone House. So much history in such a beautiful setting. The location was perfect! The house is well stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Nancy was a pleasure to work with. She provided an abundance of information not only about the home, but the surrounding area (best local restaurants and things to do). We'd love to return in the summer to take advantage of the lake.

EVERYTHING is exactly as advertised. Nancy is such a pleasure to work with and she has thought of everything. The private beach is a huge plus - no fighting the crowds! The location is close to all the activities and food and amenities. We will definitely be back. We already miss our morning coffee and afternoon naps on the deck.

The Little Stone House is perfect! Nestled in a woodsy, hillside community reached through a private gated entrance, the Little Stone House offers a wonderful blend of historical charm, every modern convenience, and a caring host, Nancy, who welcomes you warmly and has supplied every amenity you can imagine. A twist of wooden staircase, well lit by motion lights as well as the overhead lights, leads up to master bedroom, a dream, with comfy beds and bedding, a wall of windows looking out through towering trees to the blue of the lake, or nighttime stargazing, and a small balcony for looking down at the lovely garden area complete with barbecue and family table tucked in around huge boulders. the attached bathroom has a roomy shower with plenty of hot water. A second bedroom enchants with an old fashioned clawfoot tub beneath a sloping roof. Between the two is a tv/game room filled with games and art supplies, that is open to the living room below with its gas fireplace and lounge-able couch and chairs. Nancy has filled the kitchen with every necessity, including a carved wooden gargoyle looming over the 'old-fashioned' stove and an island for preparing and eating meals, unless you prefer the gorgeous dining room table. As if that wasn't enough, a garage holds sports equipment, and there is more down at the community's private section of beach, an easy tree-lined walk from the house. The Little Stone House felt like home and we can't wait to return.

We loved the Little Stone House, such a welcoming home & just right for our family. The private dock was a highlight, with kayaks and SUP and all the beach toys!

We loved the Little Stone House! Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay for a week. It was the perfect location to get away from the busy areas around South Lake Tahoe. The private beach was a welcome place to relax and not deal with the overcrowded public beaches near by. Nancy was the perfect host staying in constant communication about all details. We would highly recommend you staying here on your next trip.

Our family really likes Lake Tahoe and we come for a couple of weeks every summer. We also really like older homes with character, but sometimes they can be a mixed bag. This stone cabin is the best of all worlds. It has modern appliances and systems, in the shell of a beautiful (almost) 100 year old home. It's in a quiet spot in the neighborhood, with an easy walk to the beach. The stone walls are solid and beautiful. There's absolutely no old cabin smell, which we've found in a few older Tahoe cabins. The living room has very comfortable seating, especially the loveseat under the window--it's a perfect spot for reading.
Nancy has paid a lot of attention to the details, which in our experience, can make or break a vacation rental. It's the kind of place that anticipates your needs. Want to get cozy in the living room? Grab a pillow and a blanket. Want to make an oreo malt, grab the blender. Want to get a way from the family, hang out on the back deck. Get a cut, grab a band-aid. Want to go for a bike ride, grab a bike. Want to explore the lake, grab a kayak.
All 4 of us are already looking forward to our next trip!

What a great home stocked with everything you need to be comfortable including books and games. My kids never reached for an electronic device while there. Nancy’s home is filled with history and located in a breathtaking area of the lake waiting for your next adventure.

I couldn't be more complimentary of this place or Nancy! It was a perfect fit for us. This was our first trip to Lake Tahoe (Heavenly) and we had a great time. The snow was epic and Nancy was extremely helpful in managing the challenging conditions (6+ feet of snow) and being very responsive. One of our favorite properties that we've rented in 20+ yrs. Definitely will be renting this place again!!

The little stone house is just as lovely in person as it is in the pictures, and so comfortable. Nancy was extremely helpful and responsive when we had questions.

Nothing could have been more perfect. The house was in full Christmas Decor, Tree, Lights the whole nine. It is not for a giant family gathering trip, but will sleep two or three couples pretty comfortable. The house is an absolute treasure and location, location, location.

The Little Stone House is an outstanding basecamp for exploring everything that Tahoe has to offer or simply staying in and enjoying the idyllic setting.

We had a great time staying at the Little Stone House! Not only was the architecture really interesting, but the owner, Nancy, has furnished the place with everything possible to make staying there convenient, pleasant, fun, and cozy. There are so many thoughtful small, friendly touches throughout the place (more than in most other properties we have visited), and its colorful history adds another dimension to the pleasure of staying there.
When it came time for our originally-scheduled booking, there was a forest fire that would have made staying there really unpleasant due to the amount of smoke. When we asked Nancy if we could reschedule to a time when the air was clear, she couldn't have been more agreeable and accommodating. In fact, she was the perfect host from the beginning to the end of our visit.
We look forward to returning to the property!

Very cute little place, beautiful inside, everything provided and thought of, and Nancy was great to work with. Loved the location, cute neighborhood, near the lake but no road noise, great private beach with no parking hassle. They even had kayaks, SUP, and lots of beach toys to use. One of the best, if not the best, places have stayed at in Tahoe

Our trip to The Little Stone House couldn’t have been better! We loved relaxing at the private beach after using the kayaks. The nearby trails provided opportunities for scenic hiking. Our other adventures parasailing and attending a concert were awesome.
The house was amazing, very clean, and had everything we needed for a fun stay!
Last but certainly not least. Nancy was an exceptional host, very responsive to any questions we had. It was our first time to Lake Tahoe and I probably didn’t do as much research as I should have but Nancy provided a great deal of information to make our last minute planning a breeze. Thank you Nancy! We hope to make it back there soon!

We booked this place last minute for a getaway with our family of five. It was it was kind of an impulse decision but wow what a fantastic vacation we had! The neighborhood is great the house is like nothing you’ve ever seen before! Lots to do nearby,… kayaks waiting down at the beach for you… I can’t imagine how this could’ve went any better.

This is the coziest house nestled into a beautiful, gated community with its own private beach. Everyone was extremely friendly. I stayed here with my husband and two daughters (ages 23 and 20) and we all LOVED IT. It’s in the perfect location with a grocery store extremely close. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need to cook. We cooked full breakfasts and took full advantage of the grill for corn on the cob and steaks, and ate outside under the pergola. We used the huge island to pack sandwiches/lunches for hiking.
When I tell you that Nancy has thought of EVERYTHING, it is not an exaggeration. I opened the drawers to find one filled with any battery you could possibly need; one with Duct tape, and various little tools; and a closet with an extra backpack, sunscreen, bug spray etc. The bathrooms had HUGE bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
When it was time to watch the sunset the private beach, we grabbed the Tommy Bahamas backpack chairs and took the quick walk to the beach…with my hot chocolate (also already in the kitchen) in hand.
One tired night we decided to have a game night. She had a TON of great games to choose from.
I had a few questions during my stay and when I texted Nancy she responded INSTANTLY! What an amazing host.
My husband wants to come back and celebrate Christmas here. We will be back for sure.
Also, the history of the house is amazing! The original front door is now the door to the wine cellar. Super cool!

This house was gorgeous. Interior design was adorable and comfortable. THERE is no air conditioner, bedrooms are 75+ degrees during the summer months. There are also steep stairs going to the upper floors so if you are with seniors this may not be the house. The neighbors are at war with each other with rental properties. The neighbor across the street wore a shirt saying “Renters Not Welcome” and all dogs must on leash at all times. The beach doesn’t allow dogs April to September.
We would not stay in this neighborhood again because of the neighbors that do not like renters being here.
The house is pretty and close to the beach.
