Host, Kelli, happens to be a co-owner of a large tour company with over 25 tours throughout Alaska, and offers 10% discount on all tours offered by the company to her vacation rental guests. Popular tours offered in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka include whale watching, salmon bakes, river rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, private cars, Mendenhall Glacier tours, jeep tours, Alaska RV and Cruise tour packages, and more. If you are interested in this discount, ask Kelli for the details.
This one bedroom apartment is ideal for one or two people, so the advertised price is for one person, so that it remains affordable for a single guest. Pets are welcome, upon approval. Please inquire about monthly pet fees for long-term stays. If you feel that the extra animal/person fee is too expensive, and the value isn't there for you, please don't book this place. We want to offer pet friendly places and we want your business, but we want you to be happy. We strive to keep the properties clean and maintained for all guests, which this fee helps pay for. You'll be asked to rate the value of your experience, and If this fee creates a diminished value perception, then we hope you find another fabulous place for your group.
I hope you like this accessory apartment that was built in the early 90s for great grandma McBride. It has a private exterior entrance, porch, and parking spot. You can also access the main house through an interior door. Both exterior and interior entry doors feature deadbolt locks. I hope you enjoy the community environment in the house. You can use the common areas of the house, but no sleeping is allowed in the house, nor are your animals/pets allowed in the house. The apartment is your private space, and where your sleeping accommodations are located.
We will strive to provide the best customer service and improve as we go with feedback from our guests. We hope to earn your five-star review! Your expectations should be limited to what is promised here, and reviews should reflect how we did with these promises. Before submitting your review, please remember to base it on the following criteria and what was promised to be provided for the price paid as follows:
Easy check-in process – You'll be able to self-check in. Kelli will give you check-in details prior to arrival, including a lock box code. You'll be able to access the rental at your leisure after check-in time, at 4pm. We offer early check-in options, if it's available a couple days prior to your arrival for $25-$50, depending on your arrival time.
Great Communication – Kelli is known to be responsive to guests before, during, and after their stay. You can expect prompt responses to your questions. She'll respond to web site messages as soon as she can.
Clean Accommodations – Your private apartment should be sparkling clean.
Great Mendenhall Valley Location – It's steps from the city bus stop and two miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier which you can get to by car, or walking on a paved bike path or gravel trail. You can take the bus for one mile and walk the second mile. This is not a downtown Juneau property. Downtown Juneau is substantially more expensive than the Mendenhall Valley, so this location for the price should not be compared to that of downtown. If you want to be downtown, and don't want to take a 45 minute bus ride to go 16 miles, then this space is not for you.
Accurate Description of the space - I try to make continuous improvements when guests make suggestions and do my best to keep the changes updated and published. If I missed something please let me know, so I can update the information. If you are missing something you were counting on, please let me know immediately, so I can try to provide it for your stay.
Great Value – Juneau is expensive, especially during peak season, and while this is a more affordable option, we understand that it can seem expensive. Part of the value is the ability to rent for only one night and have an additional person. The price fluctuates depending on the season. We have to charge more when the business is there, so that we can afford to have it vacant for long, slow periods.

Super cute property!

Yes, it had a bed, a kitchenette, and the amenities it said it did, but for the price point I expected a lot higher quality of a vacation rental.
I will give the property credit for being quiet, easy to access, and being in a convenient valley location, however, the hair throughout the bed sheets, mold in the shower, dirty dishes in the kitchen cupboards, tattered pillows, dusty window coverings, and duct tape over the front door handle, determine my rating of only 2 stars.
Truth be told, I was appalled when I compared this rental with the beautifully renovated and clean rental a family member of mine stayed at on this same trip. It that was at a much better price point than Grandma’s Suite.
This rental does what you need it to by being a place to sleep, but it should not cost what it does. I did not want to spend anymore time here than I had to, and frankly, I didn’t even want to get under the covers. So much so that my partner and I did not even stay the last night in the place.
I would not recommend my grandmother stay here in this 'suite'.

Woderful location for exploring Juneau, nice walk straight to Mendenhall glacier. Make sure to dine at McGivney's which is very close. Everything was clean and comfortable. Super close to the airport or the Alaska marine hwy..

We had a very nice stay at Grandma's Suite. We found it just as described. It was convenient and easy to find. It had plenty of space for two guests. We will certainly stay here for future visits!

A pretty little place. Enjoyed my stay. On the downside, a little too far from downtown. I had no car, which made it harder.

Lovely little cottage in a quaint wilderness town that is spread out, so you'll need transportation. 4 miles from an amazing glacier and about 20 min into Juneau. Beautiful country.

Mendenhall valley home base
Grandma suite was cozy and clean. Probably could use some updating. Location was great to get to Mendenhall Glacier and things around there. It was nice being away from the chaos of downtown.

We were very comfortable....sometimes wished for TV but we were very busy every day and Grandma's Suite was close to many places we visited! The gorgeous weather was a bonus!!

Very comfortable and close to places we visited! Clean, well supplied (maybe add a couple of wine glasses)...we had a great stay.

We had our seperate spaces and were able to cook to save money. The location was great for people who have rented a car. I walked to Mendenhall (45 min) and did a lovely forest hike there, as well. Bus service is infrequent & taxis expensive. We got a vehicle for $224 through turo the final day. Overall we felt it was a little overpriced. The fees on top of base cost make it less affordable. The hostess was very willing to hear & address our feedback, however.

An Excellent Stay
I recently spent a week in Grandma's Suite and I was glad I did. Everything about the location was excellent and the site itself more than fulfilled my expectations. There was nothing that I needed to make my stay any more comfortable. I was especially glad to have such a wide variety of kitchen supplies and capabilities. To be sure, as it is clearly stated, Grandma's is no 5-star luxury locale—no chocolate mints on one's pillow at night and no valet parking—but no one ought to expect it either. If a casual, comfortable place to stay is what one is looking for at a reasonable (for Juneau anyway) charge, one should look no further than here.

Great little house
We stayed 3 nights at Grandma's. It was perfect for the 2 of us. The location was good. Everything was clean and as described in the listing. It was nice to have access to the laundry in the main house.

Great - Expectations Met
The grandma's suite was great. Perfect for a couples getaway. The Airbnb is a bit far from town but very close to the bus stop!

Super clean, agent responds quickly
Nice neighborhood, bus stop really close. The unit is old fashioned and cute, abd exceptionally clean. We had all the dishes, utensils, condiments, soap and other supplies we could wish for. Great value, I recommend this place and would stay here again.

Not a good place for cleanliness .
Had a horrible nasty smell . About the only thing clean was the sheets thank God . Some towels smelt clean but still had a nasty smell . I almost threw up after smelling a wash rag I was going to use for drying my face . The bottom of the shower was nasty and looked like it had dirty mop water dumped in it . Then when I took a shower after cleaning it the water started pooling up in the bottom and took all night to drain “GROSS” and then the toilette wouldn’t flush for a few hours either . This was the second time renting from this host and both times at different places both places were not clean . I will never rent from this host again . Wished I would have stayed in a hotel instead in which case it would have been the exact same price .

This is the perfect location for us to stay when we are visiting our daughter's family in Juneau. It is only 2 blocks from their house! We love that there is a kitchen so that we can have a leisurely breakfast before heading over to see them. This is the second time we have stayed at this location and worked with Kelli. She is always very responsive and helpful.

Juneau air b and b
This was a very nice and clean unit. It was perfect for us and we were able to relax when we wanted. We ate in every day with the exception of the first evening. Then we ate at a nice restaurant in the neighborhood close by. The house is located minutes from the Mendenhall glacier and about 15 minutes from the downtown area. This was a very good value .
