About this cabin rental
My place is a quiet cabin in the woods hidden away just outside of the biggest city in Maine. Peaceful and private. My home is a country getaway with unique charm and has a feeling like no other. Close to downtown Portland, the Portland Jet Port, Freeport, beautiful Maine beaches, apple orchards, a Gorgeous wedding venue a mile away called Caswell Farm and close to trails for hiking or biking, my home has many options nearby. It s the perfect family vacation destination or business trip location. Wedding? It's a great spot for a big family to stay and the rental is the entire home and property. Looking for a romantic get away weekend? Look no further! Great spot for a honeymoon or anniversary celebration.
My place is set back off the road a bit. It has a good size front yard and a large back yard with ample areas for kids to run around, as well as a firepit. The perennial and annual gardens are kept natural and organic and we love our greenhouse which is also used for wood storage in the winter.
There is a yurt on the property that is rented out as well. It is a separate listing so if you’re into glamping, this is the spot! It could also be an add on to the house if you have a big group. The driveway will be the only shared area so we ask guests to please respect each groups privacy.
Upon entering from the new deck built last year, you will find yourself in the hallway of hooks. The laundry room and the downstairs full bathroom are off the hook hallway. The bathroom has a clawfoot bathtub and other unique fixtures. The kitchen is next and its fully stocked with whatever you may need to cook at home. We provide coffee and tea while pantry items, condiments, herbs and spices are readily available.
The next stop is the open concept dining room and living room. The dining room table can seat 2 and a highchair and the bar at the end of the kitchen can seat 4. The living room has a wrap around couch and a large screen tv. YouTube TV is provided. The woodstove is located here as well and the coziness is undeniable.
Next, there are two doors heading into the downstairs bedroom which has a queen size bed and a super awesome heated mattress pad for those cold winter nights.
Next head up the stairs and enter the master bedroom which has the king size bed as well as the full size bed. High ceilings and a very unique shower are present here and are calling for a visit. The shower has a steam feature which is great for relaxation. There is a smaller tv with a dvd player and plenty of movies to choose from.
My place is a very unique and magical space and I'm happy to help guests at anytime for any reason and to share this home that I am very proud of. Thanks for considering my place and feel free to ask any questions.
FYI I do have two security cameras located outside. One is on the front porch and the other is located on the side of the house pointed towards the driveway.

The house was beautiful and located close by both Portland and Freeport. Had a mix-up on checking in since I expected the owner, not Vrbo, to communicate house entry instructions. Overall liked the house very well but with a bigger group than our three it would have been somewhat short of the privacy required.

This property is convenient to the areas we were interested in travelling to. The property is unique and well kept and is well worth the stay. The yards was back to nature so it was nice to sit and relax on the porch and enjoy the surroundings

The house is located in a quaint, quiet setting which was ideal for our trip centered around the areas great disc golf scene. A truly unique property, the house has more than what we needed for amenities and the unique decor gave a calm and homely ambiance. If you're looking for a unique and comfortable stay north of Portland Amy's place is highly recommended!

The entire property was interesting, unique, and obviously a labor of love for the person or persons who built it. Comfortable and unimposing setting sets everyone at ease from the initial door opening to the final closing of the door and end of vacation. Certainly one of the more interesting, comfortable and casual vacation spots that we have had the pleasure to enjoy. Many thanks to the property owner who was readily available for any information, questions or concerns. Magnifico!

This is a cabin in the woods with civilization nearby. We spent four days and nights at the cabin, and I loved it. The furniture was comfortable for relaxing, and the kitchen was awesome. While my friend used the bedroom downstairs, I had the loft bedroom and bath to myself. The steam shower was an unexpected pleasure. The “throne” toilet took some getting used to, but it wasn’t a problem. The small towns nearby offered gas, groceries, restaurants, and beautiful trees. Portland was a short drive away. I will definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

This is a great cabin with a great host. The cabin has everything you'll need and then some. It was very clean, very cozy, and very quiet. It's also close enough to Portland to be convenient but still far enough away to be in the woods a bit. Wish we could have stayed a few more days!

A wonderful, whimsicle cottage with all the amenities. Creative decorating, comfortable beds and complete kitchen set up making it a joy to cook even! This was a great place to come back to to relax while putting the final touches on a family wedding event nearby in Gray, Maine. Amy was easy to contact and very responsive.

Sweet Cabin Getaway
We visited the property for a long weekend and loved every minute of our stay. The cabin had everything we needed, the property was peaceful and homey, and communication with Ann was wonderful. She is a kind welcoming person. We would love to come back again.

Unique and Cozy
The owner; Amy, answered all questions promptly within the hour or sooner. Amy was even very flexible when we requested to add an additional person last minute.
The home itself was fully equipped with everything you could need, even the kitchen, and is utterly unique! You have to see it to believe it! The king size bed was super comfy. We even enjoyed a bon fire the first night

Great cabin in the woods
We loved Amy’s cabin! It was fun exploring all of the special touches. We’d definitely stay here again if in the Portland area. It was close enough to everything but also far enough away for some quiet! Everything you could need was available and Amy was quick to respond to a couple of our questions. Highly recommend!

An Absolute Fairytale
Amy's place was enchanting. Everything you needed was provided and her communication was stellar. The place was a lot larger than I expected and I wish I spent more time in it. The steamed shower was beyond my expectations and the bed was so firm and comfortable my and I had zero back pain!
I would love, love, LOVE to return and bring more people to experience the magic of Amy's home. This was a perfect surprise for my husband's birthday and The place was 20mins from most of our destination.

Little Paradise
Stayed here for 4 days to experience the life of Maine. This house definitely does not disappoint! Every part of this house is beautiful and comfortable! Staring up at the stars on the deck at night was the best experience. I plan on coming again!

Beautiful, Weekend Getaway
My spouse and I stayed here for Memorial Day Weekend. It was such a beautiful cabin and the beds were comfortable! Our host was so kind and responsive. It was great to be out in nature but still close to Portland. We can’t wait to come back and stay again! (and hopefully for longer - there’s so much to explore and do in this part of Maine.)

Rustic Charm is amazing!
This was our third stay at Rustic Charm. The second being just last weekend. Two years ago, it was just my boyfriend and I. We knew then that we’d be returning. The pandemic made it so it just took a little longer to come back. This time we invited friends with us. Everybody also loved the place and maybe Amy will have some more future renters. Calling the place Rustic Charm, couldn’t describe it more perfectly! My favorites are the wood burning stove and the copious amount of books. We are already looking forward to next year and maybe we’ll check it out in the summer months. My boyfriend and I use the Vrbo app often, this is definitely one of our favorite spots. We highly recommend this property!

Picturesque Cottage
We can’t stop saying to each other how lucky we have found this cottage style home. Amy must be an artist because she has the most unique decorations. The house is old, but very well kept and clean. Both inside & outside (the yard) of the house is picture ready. The house located in a quiet neighborhood, and It is about 15 mins from Portland old town. If any of you are in search of a place to stay for your up coming trip look no further. This is the house!

Perfect Home in the Woods!
We loved our time at this house. The pictures don’t do the space justice, but there was more than enough room for our group of six, and we loved the MANY charming details throughout. The kitchen is well-equipped for those who like cooking, and the location is just close enough to Portland to make going into town for dinner easy, but just far enough away that you feel truly in the woods. In all correspondence, Amy was quick to respond and immensely helpful. We’d recommend this place to anyone and hope to be back someday!

Beautiful inside and out. Gorgeous fall colors all around the property. Inside filled with personality. Larger than you think. Takes a little time to understand the workings of the house. I recommend the place for anyone wanting the convenience of being near the bigger city but with a more rural flair.

An ideal stay
As we were leaving, we looked at each other and said, "we need to come back here someday." This charming, unique house offers a getaway close to the restaurants and shops of Portland, close to Sugarloaf, and yet feels a world away. In a three-day weekend, we were able to spend two nights in Portland and two days skiing, wrapping up each in front of the wood stove. There were just two of us, but this propoerty would be a perfect group rental for weddings in the Portland area!
Amy is an excellent, communicative, and helpful host. One of the best HomeAway experiences I've had. Highly recommended!
