Come By Chance' is a large luxury four bedroom chalet located in the Dinner Plain Village, 10kms from Mount Hotham, in the Victorian Alps.
'Come By Chance' is ideally located on Big Muster Drive. With only a short walk to the restaurants and cafes, supermarket, and Onsen day spa. A regular shuttle bus service connects Dinner Plain to Mount Hotham. Dinner Plain also has it's own beginner run, toboggan area, and cross county trails (Free toboggan use available for Come By Chance guests).
'Come By Chance' can accommodate 12 guests in five bedrooms (or 13 on request- with the additional of a roll-away sofa). It has three living areas, a cosy fire, televisions in all bedrooms and living areas, panel heating in all rooms and is extremely comfortable with modern furnishings. All bedrooms have ceiling fans for cooling in the summer months.
Three of the bedrooms are located on the second level with a central newly fitted bathroom that has a spa bath. The main bedroom has it's own modern ensuite. Each of these bedrooms can offer either a king bed or single bed configurations. Each of these rooms also have their own televisions. The fourth bedroom is on the third level with a second lounge area that has leather couches and a large TV- a perfect kids retreat!

All beds have linen provided and beds will be made up for your arrival. Towels are also provided.
The main living area is located on the ground level. With ample seating for all guests, including large leather couches to sit back and enjoy the fire or watch TV.
The large living kitchen and dining area is open plan and has has a fire place. The dining seating area looks out the glass north facing windows and has fantastic views.
The brand new kitchen with stone benchtops is fully equipped and includes all new appliances including oven, cook-top, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, and ample supplies of quality cookware, glasses, crockery and cutlery.
A fabulous rumpus room/3rd living area on the ground level has a comfortable TV/lounge area to escape and relax, or play Nintendo, games, what ever you choose to enjoy!
The rumpas room can also be used as a bedroom as it has a bunk bed.
A powder room is also located on the lower level.
The laundry is located on the ground floor and has a washing machine, 2 x dryers and ironing facilities. The laundry also has drying facilities for all your ski gear after a day in the snow.
The entrance area has ample ski and board storage and seating area for boot fitting.
There is a gas BBQ and outdoor furniture that can be enjoyed on the large decking area (fabulous for summer!!!).

I loved staying at Come By Chance the location was perfect for the whole family, a short walk to the beginner's ski slope and toboggan run, as well as pubs and supermarket. I was a bit disappointed at the cleanliness (toilets hadn't been cleaned properly in my opinion) and size of the living room, I thought it was going to be larger than it was. Everything else was great, with the setup sleeping 8 adults and 4 kids comfortably.
Overall, the whole family thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our family had a wonderful experience at this property, which provided a warm and inviting atmosphere that truly felt like home. The space gave us a comforting family vibe, making our stay enjoyable and memorable.
However, there is room for improvement in the cleanliness of the washing machine and some of the mugs, which still had coffee stains. Despite these minor issues, our overall experience was very positive, and we strongly recommend visiting this property again

This was the perfect property for our group (9 adults 2 bubs) with a mix of skiiers and those who just wanted to play in the snow with the small babes. Great location, great house with everything we could have needed. The spa was amaaaazing.

We spent the long weekend at Come by Chance. We had a fantastic time. The chalet is fully equipped with everything we needed and more! The fireplace and outside spa were absolute bonuses that we thoroughly enjoyed. Super clean. Plenty of space. Will definitely be coming again!

A great place to just relax. Well appointed but not too elaborate so that you felt comfortable and relaxed from the moment you walked in. We stayed there with 3 adult couples and it was perfect. If you had more couples then there are comfortable bunk beds. Host communication was great.

Great property will all you could need!
We had 3 families stay at Come By Chance, 6 adults and 6.5 kids. There was plenty of room, the top area for the kids and the bottom area for adults. Kitchen was incredibly well stocked with cutlery plates, glasses, cooking utensils- even plenty of herbs and spices 😀 We are all super keen to return next year!

A Fantastic, well presented house for an extended family celebration!
We hired this house to do something different, to celebrate two family milestone birthdays. We had 11 people across 3 generations of the family together.
It was a fantastic time made even better by this property and how beautifully it was cleaned, presented and furnished.
The owner of the property took the time to call me in advance to make sure that everything was appropriate and conducive for our stay.
On arrival the property was nice and warm as the heating had been switched on in advance.
The presentation and space provided by the house is fantastic. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the plates, utensils, odds and ends needed to feed an army of people in one sitting.
The wood fire was a fantastic focal point and added to the relaxed ambience of the living area.
We also enjoyed the walk to the nearby Carmichael Falls and had a fantastic meal at the Hotel High Plains that is just 270 meters up the road.
A BBQ is also provided and is very useful when catering for 11.
It was a fantastic and memorable stay and I hope to one day hire this house again, it can be completely recommended. Thanks for a great trip!

Fantastic getaway
We had a wonderful long weekend at Come By Chance. There was plenty of space for two families with older kids to live without getting on top of each other. The house was beautifully renovated and clean, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly want. The outdoor heated spa was a treat, especially with an unexpected snow dump! The location was fantastic and we enjoyed being able to walk around Dinner Plain and access all that was on offer. We can't rate this property highly enough.

Fantastic Place, Lovely Accomodating Owners
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
We had a fantastic time staying here! The house is set out wonderfully, with a great TV/play/games room separate from the main living area plus three good sized bedrooms and an attic room that sleeps four. It's a two minutes walk to the toboggan hill. The owners are great communicators and very accommodating - we initially booked for four adults and two children, then increased this to six adults and three children after we arrived (with unexpected extra family!) and within 10 minutes they had organised someone to deliver additional linen and towels to cover our extra guests. Amazing. We loved our weekend and this house had a lot to do with that.

You single handedly eased our minds and made the process so much easier and stress free. You could not put a price on the wealth of information you provided to sand we are so grateful. All the little things, from what to bring, where to get things, and even how to get there!! We will be highly recommending Come by Chance. We had a delightful 5 night stay for a family ski holiday with our friends. Four adults and 5 kids fitted comfortably, heaps of space. An enjoyable stay in excellent accommodation.
Eight adults from Sydney and New Zealand thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Come By Chance. The bedrooms were warm and comfortable, the living ares were spacious and convivial, and the kitchen was modern and very well equipped. The spa on the outside balcony was an extra delight. We spent our days walking the wonderful tracks around Dinner Plain and Mt Hottham, and it was real pleasure to return each day to Come By Chance.

We recently stayed at Come By Chance and still wished we were there. We arrived to a carpet of snow outside and a clean, warm, very inviting inside. The kids chose their rooms, and went out to work on their snowman, while we opened the local Chardonnay that Narelle had kindly left. The whole town is gorgeous, and Come by chance is in an excellent position to watch all the passing traffic on their way to the ski slope or parents dragging kids around on toboggans with their dogs all rugged up. There are 4 big flat screen tv's and at certain times all were being used. Bread maker was great as was having a full kitchen at our disposal, lots of mugs and plates etc. Open fire place was used daily, with stacks of dry wood for use.Handy having off street parking on concrete as we found out, and its an easy walk to pub and shops. There is a bus stop within 50 metres of Come by Chance providing easy access to ski fields, and lots of space to store skis and warm the gloves and boots etc.Thank you so much Narelle, we loved every moment of our time in Come by Chance, its an excellent choice for a family holiday.
