This was the perfect house for us, and we had a wonderful time. The location is excellent—we couldn’t have been happier. Thank you for sharing your very lovely home!

Very nice area,enjoyed the fishing

Just stayed at the house, the house was a old country home located in a quiet neighborhood and close to the water. The only thing deceiving is the 6th bedroom was a outdoor shack detached from the house.

Overall great spot for a Cape style vacation without having to deal with the Cape traffic or tourists.
Huge yard to do any sort of activities. The beach parking pass that was provided was great!

A grand old home on a magical seven acres. We loved the quiet serenity and our little walks to the beach. The large house offered plenty of room for all. We found everything we needed for our family meals together. The building is in need of repair and updates, but is comfortable, original, very New England.

A lovely quiet and charming house tucked back from the road within large grounds and a gorgeous winding path through some woods to a sea grass beach and fantastic views. The dogs and the humans had a wonderful time.

House not as expected
Pictures made this house look very quant and comfortable. It is not. Very very old house with not many improvements. Kitchen dishes, pots, pans, utensils, refridge, stove all were dirty. we pretty much washed everything before using. When I took the linens off the bed there was dirt under the sheets. I ended up leaving 2 days early because of the discomfort all of this caused for me. Very Very dissappointing.

Fab location, BUT very old, dusty and cluttered
I wish I had noticed the old date on the only two reviews that show up on here before booking (reviews from 2016). Positives:
Location! 7 acres, private beach, lots of bedrooms.
Negatives:
Cobwebs, dirty, cluttered, torn wallpaper, cheap linens, lots of expired food/used bars of soap and even empty beer bottles (in bedroom!) left behind from previous renters, in addition to random items such as a birthday hat and a fast food lid on the floor. One of the kitchen sinks didn’t work, there was a hodge-podge of dishes (minimal glasses/mugs and most were discolored or chipped), several wooden utensils were spotted with mold. Did not feel comfortable cooking without washing everything first. The windmill house was hazardous with an old sink with rusted metal on the floor and ancient window fans with damaged electrical cords. The most concerning thing: ZERO fire/smoke detectors, especially given how old the lamps/wiring etc. are. I’ve literally never had a bad experience renting through HomeAway until now. Extremely disappointed.

Dirty run down home , not suitable for rental
My family has been renting beach houses for decades and this is by far the worst experience we have had . The home is run down and in desperate need of remodeling . What’s worse it was dirty. Rugs look likes they had not been vacuumed in years . Floors littered with paper and even band aides. Grimy kitchen . Wires from the electronics hanging out in an unsafe manor. Also filthy fans. It is too bad because the grounds are very nice and well kept and the location is nice . The owners need to make this place habitable and for goodness sake get it professionally cleaned.

Great, peaceful escape in a quiet area
My wife and I stayed here in the fall of 2016 . It was our first time in Mattapoisett. Thanks to this house and the wonderful time we had, it won't be our last. The tranquillity of the house and land that surrounded it was somewhat majestic. We enjoyed the comfort of the house when we weren't on the beach or at the lighthouse park. It was a pleasure to stay and we will be back again!

A delightful place to stay
We had the opportunity to stay in Mattapoisett August 28 - Sept 2, 2016. I found the house comfortable and inviting. We stayed in the bedroom off the kitchen which was convenient with the little half-bathroom adjoining. The kitchen and dining room were well equipped; amenities in place throughout the house. The home's location is perfect with just a quick walk to the lighthouse and to the beach for swimming or kayaking etc. Even though this was a short visit, we found time to set up umbrellas and enjoy the beach. Also, we enjoyed having lunch outdoors at the picnic table. Mattapoisett is a restorative place to go and this house a very pleasant place to stay. I would certainly recommend this property to family and friends.
