About this apartment rental
Apartment is a 'granny flat' located above a garage, away from the street, and has a nice ocean view from the living room and porch. Street parking, wifi, A/C, remodeled 2023, King bed, walk-in closet, full kitchen. Very centrally located- 5.5 miles from Ocean Beach, 5.8 miles to San Diego Zoo/Balboa Park, 6.5 miles from Sea World, 7.4 miles to Little Italy, 8 miles to Petco Park/Downtown/Convention Center, 9.5 miles to La Jolla, 9 miles to SDSU, 2.8 miles to USD, 12 miles to UCSD.
Apartment is cozy, with compact living room and kitchen, but large bedroom with walk-in closet, and good sized bathroom with shower. House looks down on the rest of the neighborhood, and makes you feel like a bird in its nest! House overlooks the backyard garden. Living room looks west toward ocean. Granny flat is accessed by a series of steps that go up to the apartment from the top of the driveway; outside the front door is a covered 'lanai' or balcony that overlooks the yard and neighborhood to the northwest (mt soledad is clearly visible). Great spot for happy hour or a coffee in the morning.
The apartment is very private- you do not share a wall with the main house, and the bedroom faces east and south, so you do not hear or see main house occupants or hear street noise. Inside the door is a small but cozy living room with two chairs, two lamps, a small table between the chairs, a tv, and a small bookcase with books. Beyond the living room is a nice kitchen with full-sized fridge, gas oven and stove, a bistro-style kitchen table and two chairs, and all kitchen accessories- microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster, knife set, etc. The bathroom is compact, with a decent vanity, a shower with removeable shower head 'wand', and toilet. Light in bathroom has a bluetooth speaker so you can sing in the shower.
Between the bathroom and bedroom is a large linen closet with extra towels and sheets.
The bedroom is pretty big, with a king bed with premium mattress. At the foot of the bed is a chest of drawers (9 in all) with tv above. There is a nightstand on the north side of the bed with a small lamp. Between the bed and the walk-in closet is a small desk with a few drawers and a chair. Inside the walk-in closet are extra blankets and pillows.
The neighborhood is quiet. Neighborhood was developed during WWII, and racist housing laws were suspended for the area due to the urgency of the war effort; as a result, the neighborhood is very racially mixed. Unlike a lot of areas of SD (including but not limited to South Park, Little Italy, Logan Heights, Ocean Beach, Loma Portal, Point Loma, University City, Mira Mesa, Northern La Jolla, Bankers Hill, and National City) we have no jet 'fly over'. Street parking is usually available out front. Apartment is even quieter as it's away from the street and in the backyard. If you want to walk to bars and restaurants and nightlife, this is not the apartment for you; if you would prefer to stay in a quiet neighborhood with short drives to SD attractions, this could be a great option.

We stayed for a month here. It was not fancy but it had nice wood floors and beams. The kitchen had good appliances, including a blender, that I wanted. The neighborhood is ok.

Quiet and Comfortable
This was the perfect stay for us. We spent 4 nights and if felt like home to us. Everything was clean, orderly, and the kitchen had some basics. We were able to stock the fridge, come back in the evening and relax after a long day. Neighborhood is quiet, and groceries are a short drive. We would definitely stay again!

As advertised
Lived up to or exceeded expectations - stairs a little steep and up dark driveway at night, but location perfect for visiting city- small but comfortable - easy to cook in- Scott not there but friend Ivan was fantastic- girlfriend said place could use one or two mirrors and location of close grocer would help. Would come back

Apartment lived up to expectations
My boyfriend and I just stayed at this property. It was clean, quiet, centrally located, and had everything we needed. The shower was wonderful and the bed very comfortable. It was nice to be on the second floor to have a view. They had space heaters to keep it from getting too cold at night. While the wifi address wasn't automatically supplied, when prompted, the owners got it to us. I would definitely recommend staying at this place.

Great place to stay for the price.
The rental was very clean and quite comfortable. The neighborhood is an older neighborhood, but it seemed safe. The owners were very nice and always responded quickly to emails. The rental is upstairs so you must be able to climb them. The unit is not fancy, but it's very functional. Everything you need to cook is available. I was very satisfied with my stay. The price is great! I plan on staying there everytime I return to San Diego.

Clean quiet comfortable and convenient
This spacious apartment has all the comforts of home, located in a quiet family-oriented working class neighborhood well situated for exploring Greater San Diego in all directions. Just 15 minutes from Miramar MCAS or downtown. Our hosts made every effort to ensure our stay was enjoyable and relaxing. We loved the productive garden and cool breezes. Easy street parking.

Everything is great
The living room is spacious and the whole house is nice and clean. You got everything you need, plenty of towels, kitchen supplies..etc. the location is closed to the Seaworld, San Diego Zoo, and beaches. It is a nice place to stay when people take their vacations in San Diego.

very nice and clean apartment
I think the apartment is clean, very nice and rather spacious, the bed is very comfortable and there is plenty of room in the bedroom as well. They provide a lot of towels and also beach towels (even though I had my own).
The neighborhood seemed safe during day and night. The apartment is basically 15 minutes away from everything.
The owners are very nice, they have loaned us their bikes for a bike ride and I really appreciated that they took care of preparing the bikes for us (inflating tires and so on...), he was also so kind to help us putting on our car!
Overall a very positive experience, and will definitely start from here if I come back to San Diego.

Great Place to Stay!!!
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a couple months for a school internship and couldn't have picked a better place! Very quiet neighborhood and pretty cool view from the living room window. House is well equipped with everything you need and is located within short distances to the beaches, balboa park, Downtown, along with easy access to highways. Scott and Bisera are great people and were always willing to help us with any questions about the house and/or the area and were also very kind, willing to lend out their bikes and surfboards. Good restaurants and markets within walking distance as well. Would highly recommend this hidden gem to anybody who is staying in the San Diego area!
