About this cottage rental
Summary:
St Anns is a beautiful detached house within a 5 minutes walk of the best sandy beaches in the area. The house is well equipped and includes a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
The Space:
St Anns is a detached cottage-style, three-bedroom holiday home of charming character in the beautiful area of St Marychurch in Babbacombe/Torquay. The holiday cottage is within easy walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants and beaches. An ideal choice for family holidays, as there are plenty of facilities and activities in the area for children, including Babbacombe Model Village, which is just around the corner. Our spacious holiday cottage sleeps 6 in three bedrooms, (one double, one twin and one room with bunk beds). The bunk beds are more suitable for children, rather than adults. The house also boasts a private drive (parking available for 2 cars) and sun trap landscaped gardens. To the rear, the cottage has views over the Petit Tor Downs, Torquay Golf Course and Watcombe. The closest beach is Oddicombe, a 14-year consecutive winner of the Blue Flag Award and designated Euro Beach. If you choose to take the Cliff Railway, Oddicombe is a 15-minute walk or if you prefer the path Oddicombe and adjoining Babbacombe are a 20-minute walk. Other beaches at circa 15 minutes are Watcombe and Whitsand. Torquay is a 4-hour drive from London (or less if you speed!)
St Anns is a dog-friendly home. The area is great for dog walking including some dog-friendly beaches. There are some beautiful coastal walks: in our opinion some of the best views of the English Riviera coastline.
Lead guest should be 25 years or older. No groups of all males or all females. Families only.
The exterior of the house was re-painted in July 2020.
This holiday let is available for vacation rental with a minimum stay of just 2 nights. Don't hesitate to call us for availability and to enjoy a well-deserved last-minute break.
The maximum occupancy is 5 adults and 1 child, as the upper bunk isn't really suitable for an adult.
The guest will be charged a prepayment of or the total price of the reservation anytime. Please double check with us on the payment schedule.

The house was lovely and clean but in need of a freshen up. With 6 adults there was not enough comfy chairs available - one armchair and a 3 seater sofa. Also if you have more than one car and they are both SUVs they will not fit on the drive due to a narrow entrance. However, saying that the location was ideal for walks around Babbacombe and St Mary Church.

Great location.
Great communication throughout easy check in and check, with no problems!

A well appointed cottage, although much larger than a cottage, fantastic location - short walk to a village precinct and Babbacombe Downs. Would not hesitate to recommend for up to 6 people and would definitely stay again. Excellent communication with both the host and caretaker.

An excellent self contained home away from home.
We enjoyed our stay and being so close to the centre of St Marychurch was a bonus.

Disappointing at best. The owner never stays here and it shows.
Firstly I was offered compensation only if I didn't write this review, no offer 2 cover £150 expenses we incurred because of the conditions & lack of supplies. That's just not on. I have a very hard time believing any positive reviews for this place.
We arrived @8pm after 18 hours travel to a house that was SIX degrees Celsius. The boiler has a slow leak they know about yet they haven't fixed it properly so no heat or hot water; There was no light in the dining room - bulbs burnt out in one fixture & missing in the other; a moldy stinking piece of clothing in the washer. We called after hours MGMT who said we'll call you right back. After 30 mins of no callback we booked a B&B elsewhere for the night. They never did call back btw. A gas installer showed up 15 mins later, 'fixed' the boiler & showed us how to maintain it ourselves for our stay. Said 90 mins until the house would be warm. He left & we did too. Mgmt Co text me to say the gas installer fixed it, not to confirm with US it was fixed - bad customer service there! They offered to bring light bulbs by in 3 DAYS for the only eating area in the cottage.
We returned the next day to make lunch. We find dirty pans, pots & cutlery which have to be thoroughly scrubbed before we can do so but at least we it was warm now & there is hot water though it only lasted 3 more days until I had to do maintenance myself & then every 3days. The kitchen knives we're as dull as a dinner knife and the sharpening steel was worn smooth. In a self catering place, the kitchen has to good but it isn't.
When I pay to stay somewhere I expect it to work. I do not expect to have to do maintenance or pay for light bulbs. When issues were addressed with the owner, they said this is ”self catering” &
"guests are allowed to pay for things like light bulbs". WHAT!? I didn't expect to have to buy them nor the dish brush, dish soap, washing tabs, dish towels, hand soap, etc. as there were NONE of those items in house & only 1 partial toilet roll. The shower curtain is hung improperly so the curtain sticks to you while you shower.
The parking is super tight. The owner said there's nothing that can be done but AFAIK stone can be cut to widen the driveway.
Their guest info book is good 4 nearby eats, services, etc but there's no explanation 4 garbage & recycling practices nor pick up times. The bedrooms, living room, internet are also good but it's not enough to want to go back.
A disappointing place to spend the holiday

St Ann's Cottage
Excellent position, short drive to Torquay and five minutes walk from lots of lovely little shops and cafes, where we regularly had our breakfast. This cottage would not be for you if you only like modern decor, but was spotlessly clean throughout and very good value.
Speaking as someone who rarely sleeps well away from home, the beds were excellent and I had a great week's sleep.
Very central area to stay, with good access to many of Devon's best locations.

A lovely weeks stay. X
Myself and my family plus one dog had a brill holiday at st Ann's. A spacious cottage with all needs catered for. Very clean and cosy and warm. The surrounding areas are beautiful with many great walks for the dog. The nearest beach is just a 10 minute walk. Xxx

Lovely Place
Have just enjoyed a lovely week at St Anns! The cottage was really cosy and warm and plenty of space for 6 of us!! So much to do within easy reach - shops, pubs, restaurants and places of interest all in walking distance and a great bus service from St Marychurch to go further afield! We were able to have a break from driving on a few days!
The cottage was great value for money (especially at peak times) and would highly recommend for any group size, age etc. Have kept the details in the hope to return again!!

Good Value
When we went for a week in February the fee for the cottage was exceptional value. The property is well situated close to St Marychurch which has a good range of shops. Torquay and Torbay are easily accessible as is Exeter, Newton Abbot and the moors. The property was comfortable and had everything that one would require and there was off street parking for two cars. We would stay again.

St Ann's
My family of 4 have stayed at St Ann's for a number of years now whenever we visit Torbay. My husband's family live there and it means we can visit with them without having to bunk in with them. We love St Ann's for its location and size. There is strip shopping within a 2 minute walk, beaches 5 minutes drive away and a 10 minute drive to the town centre. With 3 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and separate dining room our family can easily enjoy a homestyle holiday experience. It has off road parking which gives you peace of mind when you are using a rental car. The caretakers have always made us feel welcome and arriving late has never been a problem. The property is very comfortable too. Great shower, hot water, central heating etc. We have tried out other properties but St Ann's wins out in our opinion.

St anns torquay
Cannot recommend this cottage, I have contacted the owner informing her that the cottage is very very dirty, greasy, and smelly throughout. There are health and safety issues inside and out.
It is in an excellent position, bus top, shops and cafes nearby,
The Owner informs me that she is going to investigate my concerns
So check with owner before booking
