About this house rental
Our more than 200 year old stone house is in a dominant location in the heart of the beautiful listed village of Fontaine de Vaucluse, famous for its freshwater spring.
Come and enjoy this sunny haven of peace, its breathtaking views over the village, river, castle ruins and cliffs and its flowering Provence-style terraces lulled by the river below.
Bathed in sunlight, spacious and just a 2 minute walk from the many restaurants, little shops, sites, riverside park, museums, fishing, kayaking...
Outdoors we have two typical Provencal stone courtyards giving you a choice of sun or shade:
- one sunny open courtyard with table, chairs and flowering plants
- one semi-covered courtyard (25m²) with a large dining table and chairs in the shade, a small table in the sun (ideal for breakfast!), a BBQ, summer kitchen..
The house is approved by Gites de France and is east and west facing. The 80m² interior is bathed in natural light and entirely renovated:
Ground floor: Large fully equipped kitchen/dining room (28m²); double bedroom with en suite bathroom (shower and toilet).
First floor: Large living room with a double sofa bed and a second sofa (25m²); bathroom (shower and toilet); twin bedroom.
Possibility to create a family floor with independent access from the courtyard.
Travel cot available.
Sleeps 4 to 6 people.
Free parking in the village.
Access to the house is by about sixty shallow stone steps (hence the great views and peace and quiet!). No problem for healthy people of all ages and the local supermarket has a delivery service!
There is a public open air public swimming pool in the village in summer.

Perfect 10! Delightful rustic home in a picturesque village with a relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful host Joanne. Quiet, charming, and comfortable.

A lifelong freind and I chose to celebrate our 60th birthdays here. We spent 3 delightful weeks in this beautifully rustic home in the most picturesque village I could imagine. The host was perfect. The atmosphere relaxing. To many businesses disappointment, I rarely give perfect grades. But to this... I rate it a perfect 10! Ther is not one thing I would change. Thank you, Joanne!

In the heart of village
We had a wonderful stay. The house is located in the centre of the village. It is very peaceful and fun to watch the livley village centre from the property.

Everything we dreamed about
We had a list of criteria and this property met all our expectations. We wanted a small village to call home for a month, a place with a selection of good, reasonably-priced places to dine, some shopping, and sights. A house with two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, kitchen and laundry facilities, and if possible, some character. We didn't want a generic modern place.
This little stone house was perfect for our 4-week stay. The owner met us when we arrived and showed us the basics for the house; whenever we had any questions, she was just a text message away. Without question the terrace was the best part of the house - the view of the limestone cliffs was amazing and we had some lovely meals sitting out there.
We did a ton of sightseeing, using Fontaine de Vaucluse as our base and I must say after facing the traffic out of Marseilles and Aix, I was so happy that we chose a small town. FdV is small - just the one boulangerie - but because it's also a tourist destination, there are more restaurants and shops compared to other small villages. For groceries, it was a short drive to L'Isle sur la Sorgue. We hated to leave!

Peaceful Retreat in a Beautiful, Bustling Village
We really enjoyed staying at this quaint house in the heart of the village and Joanne was a wonderful and attentive owner. The house is beautifully decorated and full of quirky character, while providing comfort and convenience. Two clean and modern bathrooms are a definite advantage. We spent many evenings enjoying the secluded, furnished outdoor patios, soaking in the marvellous views and sunshine. Thank you for helping to make make our Provence experience wonderful Joanne!

A wonderful, fabulous stay
This house was exactly what we wanted from a place to stay in Provence. The house is historic, lovely and charming and yet has all of the updates needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to cook our own meals and we visited the farmer's market in the next town numerous times for the freshest, best ingredients imaginable. When we didn't want to cook, there were great restaurants right in the town.
Probably my favorite part of the house is the lovely outdoor terrace. We had our breakfast out there every morning and watched the light change on the limestone cliffs. The river is just below the house and we could hear the water rushing by.
We were there for a week during some of the highest temperatures ever recorded in the area but the thick stone walls and closing of the shutters kept the house comfortable.
The house is located right at the lovely town, but it felt private and removed from any bustle. Most mornings one of us would walk over to the bakery and grab a pain au chocolate and croissant to bring back for breakfast.
The river through the town, castle ruin (which is easily seen from the terrace) and short hike to the spring headwaters is every photographer's dream. It is an easy drive over to all of the other well known Provence towns too.
The house was spotless.
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children (ages 11 and 14) and the space in the house gave us plenty of room. There is definitely room for more. We could spread out for some private reading time or gather around the large farm table for a game of cards. The terrace had a large table where we could also eat and gather. The owner, Joanne, went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed and helped us navigate a few travel hiccups. She was always available for any questions and I am not sure I can adequately express how well she runs the rental of this house.
Honestly, the house looks and lives like something out of the perfect Provence movie. I would love to stay here again sometime.
It was a great vacation!

Heart of the Village & Unbelievable Views
Our family of four had a wonderful week at this property. The views were exceptional and the summer kitchen was a real treat. The house is rustic in the very best way. It was as clean as a whistle and had everything we needed. Joanne was absolutely lovely to deal with. Highly recommended.

Our stay was outstanding!
The property is a bit quaint, but that added to its appeal and our experience. The location was very central to all the villages we had planned to visit. In the evenings it was very quiet. We particularly enjoyed the ability to forage at the area markets then return "home" to prepare and enjoy a variety of meals. The villages offered many wonderful photo opportunities. The owner was very gracious and helpful. This is an experience we will recommend to our friends.

Enchanting
The home itself is beautifully situated in the town with proximity to everything offered. We found ourselves with everything we needed for a perfect visit to Provence. The home is enchanting with ideal spaces inside and outside. Joanne is a knowledgeable and friendly hostess with a good understanding of the area. Our two weeks in Fontaine de Vaucluse passed too quickly but we enjoyed every moment.

Excellent location, beautiful place, wonderful owner
If you love the Provence, then this is the right place for you. The house has a magic provencale atmosphere, in the middle of Fontaine de Vaucluse. And the owner is very nice and approachable. All in all, a great experience.

A restful place to stay in a stunning situation.
A quirky unusual stone house in a stunning village location. The number of steps you have to climb up to the front door and the steep internal staircase may pose some difficulty for elderly and infirm or very small children. It was helpful that the upstairs has a separate entrance so that internal staircase didn't have to be used when steps were dry. Loved the outdoor kitchen with barbecue and the light airy upstairs lounge with views over the village.

Poets in Provence.
Ideally situated for touring Provence, we found the gite clean and comfortable, with a definite character of its own. A rare combination of a quiet but central position, we were able to 'look down' on the tourists! An added bonus for two poets was we were immediately above the Petrach Museum. This was challenging as we have never been inspired by Petrach's work, but it was good to stumble across his museum. Look out for 'Martin Carthy', le patron of 'Restaurant Lou Fanau'.......

Our third stay...and we'll be back!
Our third stay in this beautiful home. We love the stunning location, the exceptional views and the Mediterranean flowers in the peaceful courtyards with a choice of sun or shade. The house is really light and comfy and has everything you could need. A perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

This house is a gem!
This house is a gem, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Joanne and Valerie were both very welcoming and helpful when we arrived. The house itself is charming. The kitchen, dining and living rooms are very clean, spacious and inviting, but the true beauty of the house is its outdoor space. It was great to come home each day and sit on the patio and look at the mountain views. We never tired of it. The location of his house is fantastic as well, as it's tucked away and very quiet, yet you are only minutes away from the village center. Fontaine de Vaucluse is a sweet town, and the river is beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking to L'Isle Sur Sourge, and Fontaine de Vaucluse is a great base to easily explore other towns and areas of Provence. We were sad to leave and hope to be back again soon. We will definitely stay here again.

A lovely old village house
We had a week in Fontaine in this lovely old village house, which has been very well renovated to meet the needs of guests. It is very close (by stone steps) to the centre of the village and the glorious green of the River Sorgue is visible from the windows, but it was very quiet. We travelled with another couple and found the house very spacious and comfortable. The weather was warm and sunny and we made good use of the two courtyards, one of which has a superb view of the surrounding hills and the castle ruins (as does the upstairs bedroom). Joanne was away when we arrived but arranged for us to be met by Valerie and escorted to the house. For a very reasonable sum, Valerie did a mid-week clean as well as a final one. Fontaine has a rather small supermarket and a bakery, but we shopped at the very large market in nearby L'Isle sur La Sorgue, travelling by bus as we did not have a car. We also took the bus to Cavaillon. Barbara and John, Wollongong, Australia

Fantastic property with stunning views
We had a brilliant week in this property. It has all the Provencal style and charm we could have wished but with all the mod cons to make it an easy, comfy and enjoyable stay. The outdoor cooking and eating areas were perfect for BBQs and evenings. We could not believe our luck with its central location and uniquely stunning views. We came as a family but would recommend for everyone - young and old, groups of friends, and couples looking for a romantic getaway. The village offered more than enough attractions on its own but other beautiful villages and towns were just a short drive away. We hope to come back soon!
