The house is a perfect blend of historical charm with modern amenities, offering a memorable stay for families and friends. The owner, Steve, provides excellent service and the property is well-maintained.
10.0 / 10.0
The house was very clean and well maintained, and Steve was very quick to answer any question we had. He prepared a very detailed booklet explaining everything in the house which also had helpful details about the surrounding area.
10.0 / 10.0
This property was restored beautifully by the owner, but with all the modern conveniences one could want (air conditioning, stainless steel appliances, waterfall shower to name a few). We stayed for the proximity to a wedding, and enjoyed a relaxing vacation for the weekend. The description of the property is completely accurate, and as an added bonus, bird feeders in front of the kitchen windows provide private views of many birds each morning while you enjoy freshly ground coffee! The owner is outstanding with communication, and leaves detailed information upon check in. As other reviewers have said, so long as you don't have mobility limitations (due to both bathrooms being on the 2nd floor), this property is just amazing.

We loved this house. Amazing antiques are everywhere. Kitchen and one of the bathroom is renovated, this is perfect detail for us, but still we feel like 1800s. There is a secret passage way in kitchen to upstairs.it was exciting and backyard is wonderful. Perfect house for family pictures.
Also it’s closed to Lapp valley farm and Dutch wonderland. I want to share that, first time my kids got very big toys with playing games. Picking duckies(even 3 years old can do that:), playing basketball. This machines are not cheating, it was surprising. My kids had so much fun at this trip.

I would recommend this house. It has so much character. Steve was very nice and accommodating. The house was very clean and the kitchen was updated. The only issue was the bathroom rooms set up. But it was still well worth the stay.

This was an amazing house. The house has a perfect mix of historical elements with modern conveniences. Check in and out was easy and the property manager was fantastic. The area is quiet with easy access to hiking/ biking and a quant downtown. Would definitely go back!

This house is just as listed! We had a lovely stay with 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 11,7,7). The house is an impressive mix of modern amenities and staying true to its time. I was initially worried about young kids staying with the older items but they loved it and felt like they were staying in a mansion. We visited many sights in Hershey and Lancaster. Short drive to both. Thanks for a memorable stay!

Loved the historic property, great location, used as a hub to Lancaster central market, Hershey park, and shopping. Steve was great to work with. Will definitely come back!

We had the best time! Steve is a great host. He greeted us and answered all of our questions. The house was amazing; I would like to go back in the Fall and just stay at the house and enjoy reading and relaxing. The grounds around the house were great for the kids to run around and we all enjoyed coffee on the porch every morning. The bike trail is right across the road too, and plenty to do in the area.

Stayed at the Iron Master mansion while attending a wedding in the area. I absolutely loved the home, as I am a fan of all things antique and historical. The house is absolutely stunning!! Perfect for adults without physical limitations and older teens. May not be a good fit for adults with physical limitations and young children. The home does require the frequent use of stairs as both bathrooms are on the 2nd floor and one bathroom may have to be accessed from the second set of stairs in the back of the home. Otherwise, the home was perfect for 2 families of 3 people with comfortable beds and and wonderfully large kitchen and dining areas and beautifully meticulous outdoor areas. Just loved it and hope to visit again!

Amazing location for us visiting family in the area--we were 1.5hr from a wedding in Phila, less than 30 minutes to our beloved former home, Hershey, and 25 minutes from our York County family. The home was spacious and beautifully modernized while still maintaining innumerable historic charms. I always hesitate to stay in older homes--I'm not generally a fan of victorian style and it's so hard to keep them clean. But this home is the PERFECT BALANCE of historical appeal and modern amenities and unbelievably clean for its style and age! The beds were comfortable and the very well stocked kitchen (with a real coffee grinder!) and cozy living room were wonderful spots to spend family time together. There was even a LIVE Christmas tree (not artificial!)--this tremendous effort alone demonstrated for us the genuine care put into hosting guests in this home. Minutes walk to Chickies Ridge to hike and run along the river was great. Communication from Steve was also perfect--completely accessible without being at all overbearing or intrusive. You can just tell by the care of the home that its restoration has been a labor of love for him and we are so grateful he shared this with our family! We hope to stay again! Thank you, Steve!

Steve was very responsive to our questions. His property was beautiful. For a house built in 1860 , he has taken great care to make it very accommodating.

If you want a memorable, awe-inspiring place to stay while on vacation-this is your place!
We just left and I already want to go back. This historic, restored mansion is like no place we have ever stayed. It is obvious that much time and energy have been spent to create the ambiance that permeates throughout this home.
The furniture, paintings, decor, flooring and windows were chosen/restored with love. My curiosity was peaked at every corner. Antiques were mixed with modern comforts to make this stay my favorite so far. Have I mentioned that there were lots of history/trinkets of Lancaster County placed throughout the home to read and discover?
Stephen, our host, greeted us upon arrival and was extremely responsive to any questions we had throughout our stay. The chocolate chip muffins and coffee beans were a lovely arrival gift. I could go on…I’m so pleased!
The only thing to know ahead of time is that there are no bathrooms on the first floor-just for planning purposes depending on who you’re traveling with. I would highly recommended this property and will hopefully be able to stay again on my next trip back to Lancaster County.

Steve is an amazing host. He greeted us when we arrived (saving us from getting lost!) and was available for any tips and reco’s. The house is huge and beautiful. So much history. The house is immaculately clean and well stocked. It was the perfect weekend getaway. Cannot wait to return.

Took the family to stay here for a long weekend and it was a great time. The pictures online don’t do justice to the beautiful house which is full of history any character. Life slowed down and the kids were off electronics. It was a good place to relax and enjoy the peacefulness.

Gettysburg/Lancaster trip
This home was immaculate and located where we could go visit the different areas in Pennsylvania that we wanted to see. Steve met us upon arrival and let us know that we could contact him at any time with questions or concerns. Check-in and check-out was simple. The home is beautiful inside and out. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

.History Lovers Dream House
We arrived from Texas, we landed in Pittsburgh and drove to the property, it was late but Steve was so extremely kind and was there when we got there, walked us thur everything important, then told us to go get some rest as he knew we were exhausted. He did tell me don't hesitate to contact him with any questions, concerns or if we need info on a place to eat or explore.
The house is truly so breath taken and extremely well taken care of. You can tell that Steve has taken the responsibility of bringing this house back to the time period seriously and it shows. So very clean, so decorated beautifully with alot of history. The kitchen is a chefs/bakers wonderland. So much space that if your cooking with kids or others you don't have to worry about be cramped as it's very spacious and layer out to make your meal prep, to cooking run so smoothly. The bedrooms are very clean, lots of room and the beds are very comfy. My favorite space at night when everyone went to bed was the sitting room that was connected to the master bedroom, after everyone went to sleep, I am a night owl so I would pick one of the amazing books that are in the house get into the comfy chair and relax and get lost in a book, I feel asleep a couple times in the chair with a book on my chest as it was so relaxing & peaceful.
My sister and I loved walking around the yard as it's so extremely magnificent, so truly beautiful. We got to use some fresh herbs from Mr. Steve's herb garden. It was so yummy to have some fresh mint for my night tea and then it was nice to have the leaves for the Brule we made and then the guys had fresh chives for their baked taters.
Every room in the house was such a nice place to sit, relax and enjoy each other's company.
The area/town around the house has so much history and such very beautiful scenery. This property will for sure be where we stay any time we are in the area as it's truly one of the best, clean and easiest transaction with the host.
We truly felt so welcome and really got to relax and slow down between had to come back to some extremely nightmare work ordeal, so Mr. Steve really made our trip was very relaxing and pure enjoyable...
There is a big beautiful long dining room table that would be amazing to decorate for a family Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. I could go on and on about this house as it truly was so more than we expected and fell in love with it. Mr. Steve has done a magnificent job and is an extraordinary host.

The Mansion is the most well-appointed home-stay you will ever encounter. Like staying in a museum with updated technology. Special mention for the kitchen (all those gadgets, cookware, and spices) and herb garden. Thanks, Steve

Luxurious historic property
This property is amazing. Steve has lovingly restored this amazing mid-19th century mansion. It retains its historic charm while being beautifully updated with modern luxuries. The house is roomy, comfortable, and quiet. It has a modern entertainment system and good WiFi access. We entertained some local friends who enjoyed seeing the inside of this beautiful home which they had admired from the outside. We had an unforgettable stay.

Great property!
We (2 adults and 3 children - 13, 13, 11) recently stayed at Mount Pleasant for 3 nights. Communication with Steve was excellent (he was so responsive to emails and texts) - even assisting us with troubleshooting a TV issue for ~ 25 minutes over the phone. The house and grounds are beautiful. There was more than enough room for the kids to run around and play outside. The home has been restored wonderfully while still capturing original details. (And the pictures are a true representation). The kitchen contains everything you would need (even coffee and tea). I honestly can't say enough about our stay - it was a perfect place to spend quality time as a family.

Thanksgiving Bubble
With our adult children living in Philadelphia and Washington, DC this property was ideally located equidistant from both. We planned this trip when the virus situation was improving so we were a little nervous when cases started rising again. But we all got tested and moved our bubble to this beautiful home for Thanksgiving. We had a large group, but there was more than enough room for all of us to have our own space. The huge kitchen with high-end appliances was a frequent gathering place. All the essentials were there, from coffee to spices. The long table in the dining room was perfect for Thanksgiving dinner on a beautiful November day when we had all the doors and windows open. The trail along the river across the road from the house was an added bonus. There is plenty of parking. Steve has worked hard to maintain the historical integrity of the house while still offering modern amenities, so that makes for an interesting setup of the two bathrooms, but it worked fine. Our only extra advice for future renters is that Google and Apple Maps have a little trouble with the directions, so be sure to ask Steve about this ahead of time. Large groups will love this property.

A great blend of home and history
This was my family's first time traveling anywhere since the pandemic began, and we were quite apprehensive. We didn't need to be, as this property was spotless and communication with the owner was great. You could spend days just admiring all the artwork and antique pieces that are so carefully displayed. You can tell a tremendous amount of thought went into each piece. If I had to give any caveat, I would say that those who are vertically challenged (like me) may have a tough time reaching some things in the kitchen cabinets. We also recommend McCleary's (nearby) for good seasonal drinks.

Antiquated stay
Nice stay on cotured landscape, with the taste of the past. This house is a mansion of the yesteryear. Owner is doing a great job in keeping its taste.
I'd recommend it to others.

Beautiful!! Historic yet Modern. Secluded yet Conveniently Located
We were a group of 4 college friends celebrating our 50th birthdays. This place is beautiful!!! Steve, the host, has amazingly preserved the history of the property while adding modern conveniences. The beds were very comfortable! There is plenty of flat outside place to spread out and also a front porch, side porch, and an upstairs deck. Parking is on the property with plenty of room. You could spend hours looking at the historical decor, photos, and books. There is an herb garden if you need to spice up your meal or cocktails. Everything we needed was provided and we were very sad to leave.

Trip with Kids
House is just as the photos present it to be. It's a historical home and in very good condition. The dining room is fantastic, with a large table that could easily handle 10 adults for dinner.
The owner of the property is very nice and quickly responds to any questions or concerns you have with the property. One morning, the oven wasn't working for us, and he immediately came over to try and correct the issue. You can tell that he really cares about your stay and that everything is in order with the house.
The property is not far from Hershey Park (30 minutes or so) or Gettysburg (about an hour), which we visited during our stay). I was very impressed with the home and the owner.

The Ironmaster Mansion is a solid old mansion that has been thoughtfully renovated to make it comfortable while preserving the character of the home. It is spectacularly clean—pristine—and well maintained. Our stay included a lot of nice touches, such as an interesting set of cookbooks, and a delicious tray of local pastries. The musicianship in our family came out, via the grand piano and classical guitar made available to guests. It is a gorgeous house in which to play music. Communication with Steve was easy and amicable. We appreciated his meeting us at the house and giving us a thorough tour.

FAVORITE House!!!
This was by far the best place I have ever stayed!! The house was beautiful and so comfortable. My family and I actually did not want to explore the area as much we just wanted to stay at the house. The kitchen has everything you need to enjoy a nice meal. Steve is the best to work with and even had some yummy snacks for us when we arrived that my niece was excited about. Lovely patios and outside areas to enjoy a nice glass of wine.
The beds were amazing!!
Steve has truly created a masterpiece of a house with attention to every detail. If you enjoy history you must stay here! We will be coming back soon.

Amazing Home!
This house is easily one of the best VRBO's I've ever booked. The house is in excellent condition, well furnished, and Steve is an excellent host. The pictures do not do this home justice, and the kitchen is exceptionally well stocked. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend you visit this classic home.
