Ideal starting point to discover the many medieval villages (Aups, Sillans-la cascade Régusse, Moissac, Tourtour, Bauduen, near the cottage and a little further, Aiguines, Moustiers-ste-Marie, Ste Croix-du Verdon, laugh Roman, Quinson ... and many others! the region is a paradise for hikers of all levels; we can advise you (documentation available).
You can swim in the lakes (very clean water and a pleasant temperature in summer) and take advantage of the many shaded beaches.
And of course you have to go to the discovery of the spectacular Gorges du Verdon and take the two routes (left bank and right bank) dotted with numerous stopping points to admire the panoramas without forgetting the aerial route des crêtes, domain of vultures; Some villages not to be missed: La Palud, Trigance, Comps-sur Artuby and higher Castellane.
The less frequented, wilder Basses-Gorges are mainly discovered by marked hiking trails (sunscreen, hat recommended, provide enough water! and also by canoe-kayak (rental companies on site), pedal boats or electric boats.
The village of Quinson has an interesting prehistoric museum with a reconstructed prehistoric village on the banks of the Verdon; a pretty typical village, beautiful nature areas by the lake and rental of pedal boats and kayaks.
One of the great assets of the region is the presence of water almost everywhere! which allows you to end a day of hiking or exploring by car by swimming!
The lively Provencal markets take place in all the villages (in Aups on Wednesday and Saturday morning and in Régusse on Sunday morning for those closest to you!
In season, many festivities are offered to vacationers (almost every evening, something happens in a nearby village).
The region is also rich in a terroir heritage (olive oil, honey, wines, nougat, white truffles in summer and black in winter, local fruits and vegetables, goat and sheep cheeses ...)
Lavender is present everywhere (very spectacular flowering in June, it is harvested in mid-July and used for cosmetics and essential oil (beneficial for many small ailments to buy only organic!) .
