About this house rental
Our house under the oaks is a family home entirely restored with care, classified 4 stars, on April 06, 2019, by the CMDT, control organization approved by the Ministry of Tourism .
"La maison sous les chênes" is the place to be for a "vacances j'oublie tout" type vacation.
Situated in the heart of the countryside, but not isolated, this single-storey house, with its superb private swimming pool, spacious decking, pool-house/bar and large, wooded, fenced garden, is within walking distance of the village, where you'll find all the shops you need. What's more, a small shopping area (with supermarket, pharmacy, bakery...), inaugurated in 2017, is just 1 km from the property.
La maison sous les chênes opens its doors to a rather modern decor and offers holidaymakers a lovely, bright living room with a fully-equipped kitchen, open onto a dining area and lounge, industrial-style beamed ceiling, bay window opening onto terrace (unobstructed view), 4 bedrooms + 2 shower rooms, 2 wc, and a lovely lounge area with table soccer, eating area and sitting area where you can spend particularly convivial moments.
Let's talk about the pool! Why settle for one pool when you can have two? Exceptional for a holiday rental: here you have two pools (connected by a staircase). A small round pool with a very low water level so that small children can have fun, but also so that older children can go into "absolute relaxation" mode without leaving the pool, and a deeper pool for swimming and fun... Two pools, two atmospheres, two different water levels and shades, all anchored by a spacious terrace with designer surrounds, pool-house bar.
Now it's time to discover Provence, visit and go out:
Mazan is located to the east of Carpentras, approx. 1/2 h from Avignon (expressway), Isle sur la Sorgue and many other tourist villages, a stone's throw from Mont Ventoux and 1 h from the sea. Here, nature lovers can enjoy the beauty of our rolling countryside (vineyards, olive groves), sports enthusiasts can indulge in a variety of activities (cycling, hiking, jogging) and those who prefer to relax can stroll through the narrow streets of authentic villages, some of which are ranked among the most beautiful in France. Lovers of fine wines will be delighted: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Chateauneuf du Pape are just some of the places to visit for a wine tasting experience lulled by the song of the cicadas.
Nearby you'll find
- wine routes: Côtes du Rhône, Ventoux, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A trip that can be made by car: Caromb, Beaumes-de-Venise, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Sablet, Séguret, Châteauneuf... whose renown has been exported all over the world. Stops will be organized according to the rhythm of the tastings. On your way: fabulous countryside, numerous wineries, crib villages with charming little restaurants.
- Lavender routes in the Ventoux, Lubéron and Montagne de Lure regions: a magnificent route that criss-crosses Provence from Carpentras to Forcalquier, passing through Gordes, Apt, Simiane-la-Rotonde and Banon. Blooms from late June around Apt and until early August in the Pays de Forcalquier.
Equally fabulous are the landscapes around Sault and Ferrassières, the stronghold of blue lavender, which celebrates lavender every year on the 1st Sunday in July. A festival not to be missed!
- 10 min away, the Lac du Paty (Caromb), a haven of coolness much appreciated in summer for picnics, fishing and hiking. A "guinguette" (dance hall) brings this peaceful spot to life, ideal for spending quality time with family and friends.
- 15 min away are the Dentelles-de-Montmirail, with their eye-catching limestone cliffs. This magnificent mountain range is a realm of outdoor leisure activities.
- 25 min away, the famous Mont Ventoux, the 'Giant of Provence', culminating at 1912 meters. A breath of almost fresh air awaits you in the middle of summer. On the south side: Chalet Reynard, a former refuge just before the summit, has been converted into a restaurant that all the locals know. With 2 rooms, 2 atmospheres, Chalet Reynard offers a break to be savored without moderation by walkers, hikers, skiers, bikers, cyclists...: beautiful panoramic terraces, superb views, hearty dishes! All the ingredients for a great vacation.
North side: Mont Serein. A resort offering a restaurant, crêperie and various activities: horseback riding, mountain biking, tyrolean traverse, family hiking, accrobranche, dévalkart, children's games...
- +/- 15 minutes away, authentic villages, some ranked among the most beautiful in France: Bédoin, le Barroux, Crillon-Le-Brave, Pernes-Les-Fontaines, Venasque, Le Beaucet, Saumane...
- 1/2 h: Avignon and its festival, which kicks off at the beginning of July and has become an essential summer stop-off point in France's cultural life, Orange with its ancient theater and choreographies, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, internationally renowned for its large number of antique shops and art galleries, and the unmissable Fontaine-du-Vaucluse.
- 35 min away, Vaison-La-Romaine: a 15-hectare archaeological site (the largest in France).
- 40 min away, the Lubéron region, with its forests and picturesque villages: Gordes, Lourmarin, Lacoste, Roussillon (ochres)...
- approx. 1 hour away: Aix-en-Provence/Marseille, the famous calanques of Marseille (sea) where snorkeling is a must, the Parc Naturel de Camargue with its incomparable biological wealth (many organized horseback rides), St Rémy-de-Provence, a charming village at the gateway to the Alpilles massif, where Van Gogh lived for a time.
- just a few minutes away, many other sites await you, doors wide open.
As you can see, Provence, and more specifically the foothills of the Ventoux, is an ideal destination if you're looking for a holiday rich in sightseeing and discovery, punctuated by great moments of rest and relaxation.

USEFUL INFORMATION :
You'll be the only one to enjoy this property: house + land + pool. The house is completely independent: there are no adjoining buildings.
Location of the house: the house is located in a rural area just a stone's throw from all amenities. However, you should be aware that it is not suitable for people sensitive to noise, as the road linking Mazan to Carpentras is just below the house, and we can hear it from the swimming pool. Personally, we don't mind this, even though we're very fond of the countryside, but we'd prefer to clarify this detail.
NB:
Length of stay for 2024: in July and August, the length of stay must be at least 2 weeks.
Heated pool water: we would like to make it clear that, in low and mid-season, we cannot commit to heated water. The shape of the pool means that it cannot be effectively covered at night. If night-time temperatures fall below 18°, we do not activate the heat pump, which, despite its power, would not be able to provide you with a pleasant water temperature.

Perfekt hus med en meget venlig vært
Alt fungerede perfekt.

We had a wonderful weeks stay, the house is beautifully presented with everything we needed for our stay. The gated swimming pool is amazing, our two toddlers loved the smaller pool, while the larger pool was great for the adults. We can not thank the owner enough for making our stay so lovely and for thoughtfully providing enough cots and high chairs for both our toddlers, and for the lovely bottle of wine given to us on our arrival. We will definitely be booking in another stay, a week was not long enough.
