We had another great time at Herb’s place nestled in the beech forest, such a classic kiwi bach in a great location.

We loved our little get away. Batch is cosy with everything you need. Fireplace heats up nicely the entire house and the extra wool blankets kept us toasty in the middle of the winter. Although was intended to be a skiing holiday, with Rainbow skifield not having enough snow and closed, we still had plenty to do around. Would love to come back an other day.

Wonderful collection of classic kiwi furniture, games, kitchenware and decoration. Fire was good at warming the house.
Such a beautiful part of the country

We had a very relaxed weekend getaway for the “ladies”. Wanting a warm Comfy place amongst the bush. Herbs place had everything we needed. It was spacious, clean, warm. And we loved seeing the family history and connections everywhere too. Great price for a piece of kiwi holiday experience. Highly recommended!

Awesome retreat in the native bush, birds singing in the morning, cosy fire for warmth. Plenty of room and very comfortable. Plenty of room for vehicles.

We rented this for a family gathering - lovely family bach to stay at and totally hassle-free.

Cabin in the woods as described, kiwi bach vibe with a good wood burner which was definitely needed even in April as the bush shades the property. Basic cost fine but with the mandatory cleaning fee for just a one-night stay was pricey when you also add booking fee.

Are is absolutely amazing, great natural NZ Bush around the area.
Be aware the house relies on rainwater that is taken off the roof. It is safe to drink but I recommend bringing your own drinking water with you.

I was expecting a sign saying herbs place. also the instructions for getting there aren't that flash. Maybe tell your guests that you turn off the main highway into Bridge street, then at te Lake rd sign, continue into the no exit Hamond st and then into Roberts St. Twas very confusing for both our couples in different cars. The place felt musty and damp when we arrived, but we found the wood shed and cranked up the fire so it was much better after that. Would have prefferd to take out the ashes but no where to put them. The book says to leave them but the firebox was quite full. Comfy beds tho so that was a bonus.

This is a lovely wee bach in the woods, a very short walk to the lake. It is actually nicer than the photos show, a little dark but the sky light really helps, and it is lovely to see green out of all the windows. The kitchen is well-stocked and though everything is a bit dated it all works perfectly well.
The place is super clean too, not dusty and cobwebby like other older places.
We visited mid-summer but got a cold, rainy couple of days and nights and needed to light the fire. There is a heater but it isn't super effective, but there were hot water bottles and lots of blankets around.
We will definitely come back.

We loved staying at Herb's Place. It's a classic kiwi bach in a beautiful location, surrounded in bush, and only a short walk down a beautiful path to the lake.

We stayed for 5 nights with 3 primary school aged children. It was very spacious and the living room is roomy. Even though we stayed in December we still had a few cold days so appreciated the electric blankets, and wall heater. The games and puzzles were a nice touch in the bach and we made use of them on rainy days. I felt like I was deep in the bush which was lovely, yet it is only a short walk to the shop or lake. We also found a track at the end of Roberts Rd which took us straight to the start of the Bellbird walk. The school was just a few hundred metres down the road so we spent a lot of time there playing tennis. The only drawback was the lack of sun due to being in amongst the bush, but the deck outside was nice and warm in the morning and early afternoon. Overall the bach was nice and tidy, everything worked fine. Nicky was very friendly with online communication and we were very happy with our stay.

Our family of five had a lovely short holiday in this roomy and cosy bach.
Our 2 1/2 year old loved the dolls house and other toys. Lots of books for him also. Adults enjoyed having plenty of space, the cosy woodburner and extremely well equipped kitchen.
Thank you Nicky and Ed.

Was a nice spot in the tree's and was well equipped for our needs, a good fireplace was a highlight. A washing machine would've been nice to catch up with kid's clothes.
