About this house rental
Victorian in the front, modern in the back. This special place right in the heart of Jericho and only minutes away from Oxfords restaurants, shops, bars and pubs and more. The space is large enough for 10 guests and the beds will give you a great night’s sleep.
This lovely Victorian home is spread across 5 different levels, including the basement level. On the ground floor, where the entrance is located, guests will find a cozy sitting room with a large sofa, a mounted TV and everything they’d need for a relaxed evening watching TV with friends or family or reading a book. The contemporary furniture and the lovely Victorian window make this space the home’s best communal space, the hardwood floor and the fire place round up the ensemble. The home’s dining room is located right next to the kitchen on the basement level and offers not only enough space for all your guests but also a great design and lots of light coming through the wall of glass right next to it. The kitchen, adjacent to the dining room, benefits from so much natural light also and offers a fully functioning AGA kitchen, a gas set up, classic wood furniture and a big English sink. All the 5 bedrooms are of a good size and have comfortable mattresses, two with king size beds, two with double beds, and one with a bunk bed. All rooms are secluded, quiet and benefit from large modern windows. The 3 bathrooms are all clean and neat, featuring both bathtubs and shower. Two bathrooms also come en suite for guests added convenience. Three bedrooms and one bathroom are located on the first floor, and two bedrooms and two bathrooms can be found on the second floor. The third and last floor comes with a cosy attic room, with modern poufs and ceiling windows, ideal to look at the moon and stars during clear weather nights. The home also offers high-speed WiFi and space to work, should you need or want to get some work done while there. There is also a cosy private courtyard garden, ideal to enjoy meals together during warm weather days.
You’ll have access to the home at all times. Because the home comes with a key box, you’ll be able to check in any time after 3pm, but please be mindful of noise after 10pm.

As there are no bedrooms on the 1st and second floors, this could be a problem if anyone in the party had disability/ health issues. This was not an issue for our group. The price was very reasonable for the size of the house. Large kitchen and dinning room.

Unfortunately there was no operational oven in the kitchen. The TV wasn’t operational. And we had a leak in one bedroom ceiling from a bathroom above which appears to have occurred before. The owner was empathetic to our concerns but was unable to resolve fully.

Great location great space
The place worked very well for 5 of us staying for a wedding in Oxford. The beds are wonderfully comfortable. The bathrooms are plentiful but some could use updating. Overall a great experience.

As above plus an number of essential items had to be bought on arrival (eg loo paper) kitchen not really well enough equipped for large party to cook and prepare meals. Outside area very bleak. The fact that couples had to enter other bedrooms to get a shower was not good. Aga would have been lovely if properly equipped with oven gloves, large enough pans etc.
It appeared to us that the place had not been cared for by earlier guests and was no longer loved and welcoming.

Super house in a perfect location
The house is brilliant and couldn't be bettered situated for all the places we needed to walk to, which is just as well as there is no parking. The owners could do to buy some visitors' permits.
It's perfect for large groups and is wonderfully light and airy. The bedroom in the roof is tricky to access via a spiral. Not for the faint hearted!
The house is generally well enough equipped but as there is an Aga some some suitable Agaware is necessary, particularly if a group plans to cook on it.
The house has been done up to a high standard. It's a shame the garden is scruffy and unkempt. We would have liked to have sat out in the evenings but this wasn't particularly pleasant. This is why only 4 stars, not 5.
