The rental was incredibly dirty. There was dog hair found in all the bed linens. In the smaller room there was a bug found in the bed. There were cobwebs all over the house the biggest in the front living room was about 35cm long. Cutlery from the previous tenant was still in the knife and fork dryer. Overall, the pictures are misleading on that the place is very worn, in some places being held together by tape. The carpet needs to be cleaned and there was still dog hair all over the floor. I have stayed in a number of holiday cottages but this was by far my worst experience. I had a choice between 2 locations and wish I had picked the other option. It is sad because it was a present for my mother for Mother’s Day.

Four of us and a dog stayed for a week in September in this lovely spacious house. We loved the big kitchen/diner/conservatory (although some roofblinds might be needed in the hottest months.) The kitchen is better equipped than our own, the bedrooms are comfortable, plenty of hot water, books, games. It’s a short walk down to the town and harbour and yes, it’s a bit of a climb back, but Salcombe is hilly and that’s part of its charm! I would definitely go again.
