About this house rental

Former hunting lodge (XVIII) of the Castle, the Italianate house was restored preserving its charm and adding an artistic and contemporary touch. The place is unique, perched above a lively village of Provence, with a large flower garden, built on a cliff, two minutes of a clear waterfall. The house is ideal for a healing room, writing or just relaxing. All amenities are included, internet, TV, books, DVDs and kitchen. Because of the terrain, the place is accessible by a staircase carved into the rock, which gives a breathtaking view of the village and an incredible feeling of originality and rarity. The village of Barjols is in the heart of Provence, just one hour from Marseille, Toulon and just over Nice and the Italian border. The house and high-pitched, with its nineteenth and contemporary atmosphere provides an offbeat sense, timeless. The heart of the village, five minutes walk away, offers all the shops, markets, cafes, open all year. The village is near the sea, the mountains, among the vineyards and olive trees. The house, which is called "Le Trianon" from the eighteenth century, is a truly unique, original and resourceful, for an unforgettable stay.

This very old house is being painstakingly restored and retains its unique character as an architecture but also for its superb location overlooking the village.

The entire house is available to travelers. The house is however not accessible by car. You have to climb a stone staircase, pass the garden gate and climb to the plateau where the house is located. This unique access may seem restrictive, but it only takes 3 minutes, and offer a reward, stunning views over the village and valley.

M. Bouchard is justifiably proud of the restoration work he has done on this hunting lodge. It's three stories high, so there is a lot of house to spread out in. Lovely view over Barjols from the garden. Beds were comfortable and clean. We took advantage of the outside seating to enjoy our meals al fresco. Because of my language problem, we had some difficulty finding the rental. Unfortunately, we caused our host some inconvenience since it took us so long to actually get to the house. It's up 85 (we counted) steps, which is certainly doable with groceries, etc., but a little challenging as far as luggage is concerned. Realistically, renters won't find a parking place closer than central Barjols, and parking there is at a premium. Kitchen could have been cleaner, and the house is more rustic than photos make it appear, but overall we enjoyed the chance to experience of living in a former hunting lodge.
