Peaceful, convenient and secure.

I stayed for a month here and I loved it so much I didn’t want to leave! Laura and Walter were so kind and so helpful, and made me feel very comfortable and welcome. The cottage has everything that is needed for both a short and a longer stay. The property has the most amazing view over the Melville Koppies reserve and it is so private, peaceful and quiet; and I never felt unsafe at all. Just around the corner you have Melville which has plenty of restaurants and cafes, and not too far down the road you have a supermarket, so it was very convenient. I couldn’t recommend it enough!

it’s an awesome facility that guarantees privacy

the location represents everything…bustling night life on the 7th street and beautiful nature view from the balcony. it’s also within less that 5km from several shops and supermarkets. I walked for 7km within the neighborhood. it’s peaceful. inside too has everything- from dstv to hot water, fully equipped kitchen and a large living room. it is highly recommended…

I need my 100 back asap.my stay was fine but Laura is treating clients as if she’s doing you a favour.it’s worse deducti

spacious and neat

the owner Laura didn’t treat us well firstly the 1000 was for breaded. We stayed for 3nights with my daughter,and we kept the clean as ours.On our last day Laura told us that we can leave our staff and go for graduation,then come back and take our staff to the airport because her next tenants are coming on the 9th of March.At 15.00 I called her explaining that we still having lunch at a near restaurant,our transport will take us at 1700 to the airport.we didn’t have money for Uber.She said we must and fetch our staff otherwise she needs 200 extra which I agree that she must deduct that one.To my Suprise today she has deducted extra 100for a small bathroom Bin that has 2 items. and 1 glass and a plate we couldn’t wash because there was No water.

Very good

Nice hosts, who respected our privacy. The location is great, especially the fact that the balcony is higher up than the next doors neighbors, which guarantees a great view at the hill and also gives a feeling of seclusion while being in the city. The kitchen is very well equipped and our host gave us quite specific instructions on where to find what, which was definitely a first time to that degree and rather helpful.

The restroom is next to the bedroom, which isn't ideal, but also nothing that we found overly disturbing. Nothing else.

Very good

Check in was quick and easy. I liked that we could come and go as we please as we were handed the keys. They use solar energy, so loadshedding was not an issue. The host was very nice.

There was a water issue in the mornings.

unfortunately I cannot say anything nice after the owner was quite rude about the toilet roll issue that messed up every

the location was great

no private entrance except through the garage. but that was not a major issue. had no hot water for the last two days that’s wud super disappointing Like very bad , evening and the morning thereafter. the bed was not comfortable , the sleeper couch also not lastly, we booked for 7days and got only 2 toilet rolls when we asked for 1 more we were asked if we eat the paper- that was a total total disrespectful remark. if we pay for a daily rate surely you need to cater for per day! definately will not get any recommendations from me Lady!

Spacious cottage with a View

We loved the big veranda, the view and watching the weaver bird building its nest. Amazing. And the ample space of the cottage itself made a wonderful stay.

We stayed 12 days, and we'd return without hesitation.

Its spacious, clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, a separate lounge / dining room, and a long balcony that offered a great view of the Melville kopje and the trees in bloom below. The bed was large, warm and very comfortable. Wi-fi was strong throughout the cottage. The location was great - quiet but within a few minutes' walk to the quirky cafes / restaurants on 7th Street. Laura and Walter, the hosts, were very friendly and helpful.

Hot water pressure was low sometimes, probably due to the power cuts affecting the pumping of water into the reservoirs.

Great stay!

Laura and her husband were very nice and welcoming. She explained the functioning and distribution of the place and answered all our doubts very kindly. The place is exactly as shown in the pictures. There are amazing views from the terrace and there is a chargable light that helps a lot when electricity drops. The place is very big and comfortable. We had a short but excellent stay!

No complaints! Even though the distribution of the rooms is a bit unusual, there is more than enough space. It was also a bit cold in the apartament, but there were lots of blankets around the house.

The perfect writing escape

Laura and Walter were just amazing. They accommodated our late check in and were hands on with any issues we had during our stay. They made sure we were happy and comfortable. We really enjoyed working on the balcony because of the view which we did not expect so that was a bonus.

Exceptional hosts, wonderful accommodation, absolutely recomended!

I am a long-time traveller and I have been in hundreds of accommodations all around the world. "La Couronne" in Melville is definitely one of the best places I have ever been. Laura and Walther are amongst the greatest, most trustful, and likeable hosts I have ever met! They offer help that goes farther than anything you would expect. For example, Laura drove me to a warehouse at the other end of Johannesburg to pick up my motorcycle. She also went to her bank to get US Dollars for me, which is not easy for a non-resident – without wanting me to pay in advance. They did everything possible to make my stay comfortable. And whenever I wanted my privacy, they did not disturb. But more than that, they made me feel like I was part of the family. They invited me for a traditional Braai in their yard, and Walther took me to his bowling club for a couple of games. Chatting with both of them was always a lot of fun. As if all this would not be enough, the cottage itself is clean and perfectly equipped, offering a huge balcony with a stunning view over the Melville Koppies. It is quiet for a good sleep, but at the same time located in one of the best areas of Johannesburg. You'll find plenty of wonderful cafes, restaurants and bars only 100 meters away. Supermarkets are within walking distance, approx. five blocks away. The area seemed quite safe to me. All descriptions of the cottage at booking.com were accurate. To be honest, I would rate "La Couronne" with a 15 if possible, because it outrates all other places I have rated 10 in the past. I highly, highly recommend this place for any type of stay in Johannesburg. It felt like a home away from home. Thank you Laura and Walther for your amazing and warm hospitality!

We were charged for a shower rack breakage of which we ddnt even see how it broke.

The location was great, there was no breakfast. Enjoyed mountain hiking which is like 10 minutes away from the cottage.

We didn't have any toilet paper in the bathroom. We found less than half in the bathroom.

The view from the terrace was gorgeous! Aunt Laura and Uncle Walter are incredible hosts who really went beyond to accommodate my stay. They were extremely hospitable which I appreciated and even went as far as to assist me with issues that I had at the time with my pc. The facilities were great and had everything I needed and more. I enjoyed my stay so much that I extended it twice!

Laura and Walter are the perfect hosts. This was my second stay and I had a wonderful time. The cottage has everything you need, the facilities are exceptional and I can never get over that beautiful view. It feels like a second home and without a doubt, whenever I'm in Joburg this will always be my first choice.

The Host was Friendly & Accomodating.She felt like a second Mother.The View from the cottage is Amazing & the cottage itself is nostalgic.Me & my Wife enjoyed our stay,the Area is Quiet & sublime

Didn't know about the deposit of R500 & The washing machine isn't part of the Apartment, You have to ask for permission to use it.

Laura is an exceptional host and went out of her way to make me comfortable. The property is safe and secure and the place is absolutely stunning. The view is so beautiful and there's everything you could possibly need in terms of facilities. The neighbourhood is calm and safe, shops are nearby. Definitely coming back.

Superb!

My partner and I were very happy with the warm welcome from the host. Laura went an extra mile of ensuring that we felt at home. I couldn’t be happier with the calming setting of the place and friendly service. It is so peaceful, clean and I felt safe. Despite the cold weather, I also loved the balcony view at night. Definitely coming back!
