My three sisters and their spouses and I spent a week at Sticks and Stones with a wedding on the Saturday in the middle of that time. The house met our needs well, and we enjoyed our time together. We had four vehicles and were able to park 3 of them up by the house and one in a pullout halfway up. The driveway was indeed very steep and necessitated the use of the lowest gear to get up without slipping on wet leaves (none of the vehicles were 4-wheel drive, and it had been raining). The kitchen was well-stocked. The house was secluded, which we liked, but was only 12-15 minutes drive into Boone or Blowing Rock. Beautiful area. Wi-fi was spotty for some of our phones. Overall we had a wonderful time together.

Really enjoyed the house and the furnishings. Had everything we needed and then some. Stayed with our children ages 14 - 22. Everyone had a great time and loved the house. Will rent again when in the area.

The home was beautuful and we had everything we needed right there. It was very spacious and clean.
Beautiful scenery and saw a lot if wildlife. She was sad she didnt get to see any bears but she really enjoyed herself.

Our stay was fine, but we didn’t know the house was on a very windy road! That made it very uncomfortable to get to and from!

House was beautiful with plenty of room for our family. Well equipped kitchen, beautiful decks to enjoy the perfect weather. Great location not far from The Game Keeper where we had an amazing dinner. Short drive into blowing rock and great hiking. Loved our stay! Thank you!

Home was clean and very well appointed. Spacious bedrooms and plenty of dining space. Driveway was not ideal and is a bit steep.

Our group was a total of 8 people and this cabin fit us very well! Overall, we enjoyed our stay but we did have a couple of issues. The sink backed up our first morning there, which kept us from being able to wash dishes for 8 people. The dishwasher also leaked water because the sink was backed up. After calling the property manager, maintenance did come out to fix it but not until late that evening. Another issue was that the propane tank for the grill was completely empty when we went to grill our dinner. Even though we had some issues, we overall really enjoyed the house. The 8 of us do a yearly trip to Boone so we will keep this cabin in mind when we book for 2024.

A wonderful stay surrounded by nature. We had a large Buck roaming the grounds followed by a few white tails- the weather was frosty and cold with beautiful fireplaces! The kitchen was very well stocked. We didn't get to use the firepit outside due to the rain but we had a blast catching up with our friends. We can't wait to come back!

We had 2 families stay at Stick & Stones and we loved the property! Plenty of room for everyone. It was close to the ski mountain and Blowing Rock. The house had everything we needed for cooking. The only 2 minor things in the kitchen was that the fridge water dispenser was broken, and there were no oven mitts. Not a big deal. I will say there were LOTS of stink bugs upstairs. I know others have noted that, as well. It must be difficult to remove them. But other that that, we LOVED the property and would definitely stay there again!

My family and I had a wonderful time at sticks and stones. We were privileged to stay during the snowstorm of 2023 We were snowed in but had lots of fun riding the sled down the steep very steep driveway.

The home is beautiful and well stocked and every detail thought out (baby gates on site that we didn’t even think about with the stairs). Easy to get to and close to local town and attractions. We really enjoyed our time here as a family. Location would work great for multiple generations or families sharing the properties as the lower level has it’s own living room. Management company easy to work with and responsive. The grill was out of propane when we arrived and someone brought us a new one that day.
Only thing worth noting is only one burner on stove works very well. Only mentioning so you can ask about it after this post or plan accordingly if it has not been replaced.

Great house. Everything was as advertised. Very clean and well stocked with essentials. Driveway is crazy steep but without snow it was not an issue. I would prefer to check-in remotely without having to pick up and return keys but the rental office was only a few miles away from the house so not a big deal. We would stay at this property again in the future.

We absolutely loved this home. We travel to the NC mountains often and this is definitely the best home we’ve ever rented. Great bedrooms, plenty of space for everyone. We will definitely be back.

Great get away in the mountains . Steep driveway and lots of mountain curves but it was so peaceful ! We enjoyed it.

This is a great home for family and friends to gather for a trip to the mountains. Easy access to Boone and Banner Elk and lots of great hiking in the area. The only inconvenience was having to pick up and drop off the keys. Those mountain roads don’t make driving easy and a programmable lock would have been much more convenient. Otherwise, it’s a great place with plenty of room for privacy and gathering.

Really could have used a good cleaning. Grill was a mess and no gas, rental staff was good about coming out and cleaning and replacing the gas tank. Old towel or tablecloth in yard and garbage too. Plenty of places to stay up there, for the money it wasn't good enough. I hope this will get posted and not tossed.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house and location was great. Plenty of room for everyone. We got to see all types of animals from the balconies, from deers, raccoons, turkeys, to even chipmunks playing along the driveway. Very peaceful.

Luxurious accommodations, well equipped kitchen, loved the porch, the gas fireplaces, etcThere were 6 adults. I would not recommend it for family with small children as stairs had no doors. But ok for teens. Not near any restaurants so bring all your food. We had a wonderful Easter weekend.

Great mountain getaway. Only thing we had to do was make trips to the store for food. Kitchen is fully furnished with more than other places we’ve rented in the past. Not a bad bedroom in the place. Would rent again. Great value for the price.

We stayed at Sticks and Stones for a week over Thanksgiving and it was PERFECT. The house is gorgeous and the pictures do not do it justice. Beautiful furnishings and the kitchen is so week stocked! We cooked a full Thanksgiving meal and had all the equipment needed to make a huge dinner. The house is very spacious and perfect for two families to spread out and still be comfortable. The outdoor fire pit was a hit for s’mores every night. The kids loved exploring the mountains/rocks right behind the property. Driveway is very steep, but we were able to park 2 mini vans no problem. Definitely would need 4 wheel drive if there was snow though. We will be back! Loved this property! Also, close drive to Blowing Rock and Boone. We loved Blowing Rock!

We recently stayed at Sticks and Stones for a few days and immediately regretted that we didn't stay longer. Initially the trip was for a guys getaway for my husband and son but on the first night my son called and said, "Mom you would love this house." A couple days later he called back and said, "It's really nice here. Can you drive and meet us here if we can stay longer?" So I made a seven hour drive all because my 18-year old son knew I'd love it. He was right. It is a gorgeous house that's spacious and decorated in with an upscale rustic vibe. It has plenty of room to spread out and a very well stocked kitchen. It's secluded and private, tucked away at the top of an incredibly steep driveway. The only thing that might be an issue is that the bottom level smelled musty. It wasn't a problem for us because we didn't use it and it didn't affect other parts of the home. They did have a dehumidifier in the closet so I'm sure that and a little fresh air would help. I do also have to mention the driveway once again because it is extremely steep and runs into a road at the bottom. So I definitely would urge supervision of very young children. Overall we had an amazing time and would love to go back!
